  1. I'm wondering if there's a PC forum somewhere that deals with bike problems?
  2. Nah - that's just how marryjuewarnie smokers say 'doing'.:rotf:
  3. Seagate. SEAGATE? Forget them. I've had two of them - 1Tb and 2Tb. Both crapped themselves in no time. I'm currently running WD and Maxtor. WD would have to be the ducks' guts! I also find that portable HDs are far more indestructible than straight out externals. A little more expensive perhaps, but when you consider the value of your files and the fact they are getting cheaper every day - it's a no-brainer really.
  4. Okay then. As long as we're talking about Coffs and the origins of bikes, it so happens that MY 2004 Venture originated from there as well. Swapped my BMW R1150RT (and some cash) for it a few years back. Can't remember the previous owner's name but he was in his early 60s, a retired firie and a fellow Ulyssian. I rode from my home town to Merriwa and he popped over from a ride he was doing to Tamworth (world's getting smaller) and we swapped over a cup of coffee and a phone call to QBE to swap our insurance policies. He headed back to Coffs via a visit to his son in Newcastle and I headed back home with the biggest grin on my face! I get to Tamworth a couple of times a year as my sister lives (and rides) there.
  5. Will this be your first trip to Tamworth for the yee-haa festival? Hope you've booked your accommodation because that place is crazy and HOT that time of year. Check out the Tudor Hotel in the main drag for a beer and a feed.
  6. Hey Big Lenny. Thanks for the information. Never knew these things existed, although they have been available in Australia for a while. What a brilliant piece of engineering. Very simple yet specific in its application. Can't believe how many sizes are available, although I suppose if you want to cater to the larger industrial world you have to be able to supply everything. I'm after some very small washers - about 6mm with a 3mm centre hole (roughly). Won't know until I pull apart what I need to be secured vibration-free on my Voyager outfit. Sorry, but Loc-Tite just doesn't do a thing. I'm looking for a home industry supply business next year when I retire to another city, and from what I see there are no Nord-Lock distributors there. Might be a good in for a smart young buck!
  7. You're not really going to Tamworth for the music. You just want to do the twisties over the mountain. Admit it!
  8. Welcome aboard mate. I sometimes get over Coffs way, so ya never know. Cheers, Spear
  9. These are nice. Check out this eBay reference. Although I say in the ad that I will not post overseas, I will make an exception for my fellow VentureRider.org members - and I'll negotiate a better price. 301001440690
  10. Woo hoo. Congrats to all Grandma. I know the buzz - I've just 'acquired' grandson #5. (Great photos BTW. Thanks for sharing.)
  11. Damn. Just posted this (so I thought) but nothing happened. Here we go again. I'm selling a set of Samson pipes off my 2004 Second Gen RSV on eBay, I have an inquiry from a guy who owns a 1997 Royal Star who wants to know if they'll fit. Will they? Can anybody enlighten me please?
  12. I proudly ride my 2004 RSV with a Voyager attached. (Thanks Aussie Annie.) No issues with the DOT here. It's no more than a bolt-on accessory. No engineer's certificate required in my state, although Annie needed one in her state. My insurance company - the biggest bike insurer in the country - knows exactly what a Voyager is and includes it in my bike insurance. I'm a retired LEO, and most of my former work mates don't even realise that I'm NOT riding a trike. They have to look twice to realise the drive wheel is still attached. Time for everybody to just move on. Become engineers, build a bridge and get over it!
  13. Mtcvoyager. Just sent you a PM outlining a problem I'm having with my kit. (Too long to go into here). Cheers.
  14. Temperature in this area are heading towards 100 degrees today, and the fires aren't yet under control. Mass evacuations in the mountains. Not good at all.
  15. Many, many, MANY years ago I worked at a regional LEO centre that was a brand new building. This of course meant a new phone system and phone numbers. In one of the rooms in the forensics area where I worked was a phone that would occasionally ring and when answered there would be people inquiring about welfare payments. Turns out that extension was the former number of a federal government department that had been unlisted for about three years. Needless to say - depending on one's mood on the day - we had fun giving welfare advice. Ooh, we WERE bad!
  16. Snow? What's that? Would love some Down Under. Check out our latest 'weather'. http://www.skynews.com.au/topstories/article.aspx?id=916663&vId=4196303&cId=Top%20Stories&play=true

    Time to trade up?
  18. My tin top - VW Tiguan has a USB connector in the console to which I can attach a 16GB stick. I'm running around 100GB of music. Love it. The GPS on my bike takes a 32GB mini-SD card. I can plug that into the AUX jack of the bike and ride all day and not hear the same track twice. Love that too. Generally love my music.
  19. /\ yeah that /\
  20. .... and from me as we'll Peg. Tried to Skype you t'other night but I think our time zones were out of synch. I'm only a few days ( and a couple of years) behind you. Xx
  21. I lead a pretty sheltered life down here Margaret. What year was the final model?
  22. I don't know why you just didn't buy another Second Gen? Surely they're still making them! No?
  23. :rotf: from me too!
  24. I'm looking on Aussie eBay at a rider's backrest for my 2004 RSV. This is the number - 140622667716 Would somebody please mind cutting and pasting the number into their eBay search engine and telling me if it will fit. I'm a bit dubious about the configuration of the three holes. I'm trying to cut and paste the details and photo on my iPad - with no success. The company Bestem says it has a depot in Atlanta GA as per the information I've managed to cut and paste below. Anybody know them? Bestem Powersports motorcycle chrome driver and passenger backrest product line covers almost all popular cruiser models. We have plenty of stock on more than 100 different kinds of chrome backrests at any given time and receive monthly supply to our spacious warehouses in Atlanta, GA and Sydney, Australia. Cheers folks. Hot one here today. Pushing 35degC and windy. We're under a total fire ban. (Love my air conditioned house!!!)
  25. Wasn't going to go that far back Ben, but seeing as how you've raised the subject - ya showin' ya age now brother! :rotf:
