I have 3 of these lights, given to me by my daughter last birthday. I contemplated putting 1 on the underside of my top-box lid but decided not to, as there is always a strong possibility of something inside the box turning it on by bumping it, or indeed having the box loaded to the top and closing the lid down also activating it. A chance of flattening the batteries or maybe the heat (if there's any from the LEDs) doing some damage to something within. You also have to remember that once you attach these lights with the double-sided tape you cannot replace the batteries without pulling the unit away and ruining the tape. I suppose you could apply more tape - but as you've probably guessed by my input IT'S JUST SEEMS LIKE TOO MUCH TROUBLE!

Man - that looks mighty (un)comfortable! (Go figure!)

Don. There is one way for the Americans to avoid all the pre-election hoopla. Your country has to run its elections the way we do here down-under. As a for instance- late last year our elected leader (the Prime Minister and George W's Deputy) called an election, as it was time. Four years were up. Six weeks later the poll was held and he got done well and good. That was it - 6 weeks. Gotta love that. None of this primaries, secondaries etc etc that you have to put up with over there. I'm pretty sure it runs the same in Canada. Short and sweet.

Can somebody make a phone call for me please?

Well, I bit the bullet tonight and ordered my new rear shock from Chris at FlatOut - before your US$ loses any more value. My Au$$ie dollar only buys me 89cents US. While I was at it I ordered some other things I needed. So - to everybody in the posts above who have done so much for me, I thank you from the bottom of my little Aussie heart. You have made it so easy to get things moving. I now sit and wait. Going on a BIG 4 days ride on 13-16 March, so hope to have it installed before then. (C'mon Chris - let's get it happening old mate. You have my money, now I need the goods!) Cheers guys, Spear (rhymes with beer!) -
4' 11" ! Straight into the top box! Joke, Bob - it's a joke! Put that knife down and get back to that side of beef!

Hot off the press guys. Here's a shot of the 2009 Royal Star Venture. Who said they were going to re-vamp it? Just a (very) different colour scheme. They're calling it Brokeback Mountain Pink as a tribute to Heath. :rotf: | | | | | | | | | | | | \/

Permit me if I may to share some family photos with you - a little bit of history included. What do YOU have to share, if possible? Enjoy these. The first shot is of my Dad in 1946 on his old Harley. Next is me in 1971 on my brother's AJS (with a Matchless 650 twin motor). Then me again in 2004 prior to a weekend away on my 1972 K2 Honda 750/4 with my brothers. Finally - hey! What more can I say?

Don, The English used to say, "From pennies, pounds grow." In this case it would be, "From cents, dollars grow." On behalf of all those who viewed, bid, missed out or acquired a Guardian Bell - CONGRATULATIONS AND WELL DONE.

Still 'cool' here down under. Got up to 28degC (that's 82degF) with little wind. YOU TALK ABOUT A PERFECT DAY FOR RIDING! WOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Ah - America. Land of the brave, home of the free! If you wanna ride for days and days and days across one of the greatest countries on this earth, WITHOUT packing any sort of firearm, and ride safe and free without ANY fear of some crazy taking a shot at you . . . COME TO AUSTRALIA. No ordinary citizen has the right to carry a handgun here. You can walk down the street and not worry about who's packin' and who ain't. There's no such thing as a concealed weapon permit because we don't allow concealed weapons. Full stop. Makes for an easy and non-paranoid lifestyle. I'm a retired LEO, and there's no way in the wide world that I am able to carry a firearm "just because I want to." Wouldn't want to anyway. Why? To protect me from somebody else who also isn't carrying a firearm? Get where I'm coming from? I plan to do a lot of international travel over the next few years, and the good ol' USofA is the last place I'd wanna be - because every man and his dog is packing a piece - BECAUSE HE CAN! No thank you! _______________________________________________ The above is not meant to be a slight on anybody on this forum, or anybody who has posted in this thread. I just can't get my head around the fact that y'all take up the right to be armed - because your constitution says you're allowed to be.

Had a cooler sort of a day here today. Only got up to 28degC. That's 82degF. Might ride to work tomorrow - in shirt sleeves!

That sir is a the start of a BLEVE. aka Boiling Liquid Evaporative Vapour Explosion. The flame thrower will only last for so long, and then . . . K A B O O M ! All over red rover!

Sorry Jerry. I just came onto this post too late to i.d. your springs. I knew straight away what they were. It's obvious I'm the only bloke on this forum who has radial arm saw cabinet base wheel level adjusters on his Second Gen. What's wrong with the rest of you guys? No sense of accessorising your bikes? Sheeeesh! :rotf: :rotf:

Wow Don! You're on fire here old son. :cool10: Gives my Guardian Bell you sent me even more significance and meaning. I'll treasure it forever. Cheers, Steve

It's PLUS 30degC (84degF) here and we just had half an inch of rain. I'm in shorts and tee-shirt about to sit in the back yard and have a beer with my 2 dogs. CAN'T BEAT THAT!

From my observations, purely of the photos, the area of origin of the fire is the main part of the house closest to the pick up. Those tyres didn't melt - the whole vehicle burned, tyres and all. What's the big cylinder on the opposite side of the building? Not LPG for heating etc? Man, I'd hate to have seen that fail. Ever heard of a BLEVE?
-
"Courtney Cottage". Now doesn't that have a nice ring to it? Congratulations mate. It's a great feeling walking into a house and knowing it is really your home, isn't it? Beautiful looking place - and nice photos. You take them?

Have a go at the 'revised' description. Mind you - I prompted him just a tad!

Hey Don, I bit the bullet with my Aussie Bike Club www.ulyssesclub.org and posted a link to this post anyway (refer my earlier PM). You never know, you just NEVER know! http://forums.ulyssesclub.org/showthread.php?t=10924 Whoops - looks like if you're not a member, then you can't access. So, here's the post. Great ebay offer - help a biker family Sorry troops. Just wanted to alert you to an offer on ebay, through another bike club I belong to. I sent a message to Ulysses Admin this morning asking if it could be posted on our 'front page', but I fear by the time a decision is made it will all be over. So - I've bitten the bullet and taken the liberty of posting here, in what I believe is the most appropriate forum. I know it doesn't relate to one of our own Ulyssians per se, but it is still a biker family. If anything, have a quick read of the circumstances and even if you feel you can't bid on any of the 5 Guardian Bells it will be interesting to see how high the bidding goes. Thank you for your time, and apologies if anybody deems this 'out-of-place'. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/sh...threadid=18479
