  1. I know it's a long way from you guys up north, but have a look at this Aussie site. http://www.amhp.com.au Bought one yesterday for my 2004.

    Speed

Gee, I'd love to see somebody trying to 'bend' the needle on a 2nd gen! :rotf:
  3. Juggler. Stop juggling your fingers. You hit the '1' key instead of the '2' key. Surely you meant a 2nd gen? :rotf::rotf::rotf:

    Speed

    - - - and that my friend is why the Australian powers-to-be will no longer allow the Venture into Australia, because the speedometer reads too far out of the allowable limits for Australian Design Rules. We allow 8% variation - the Venture can be up to 10% out of whack. That makes my 2004 Venture (the 58th one brought in to the country) now worth a lot more money. The 2008 model currently being sold here is the last for us Aussies.
  5. Greetings all once again. Had the new rear shock fitted today, and had the service manager at the stealers give it a once over ready for a trip "as if it was his own bike." Can't believe the difference in the ride now that the cloud has been re-installed under the rear end. No more harsh bottoming out. Runs just like a Venture should. Fifteen days to go and I'm off on 4 days riding with the brothers. Will post some pics when I get back. Thank you all - again.
  6. 110km/hr (indicated) - about 70mph. That's where my Samson pipes start to talk to each other and you get the 'beats' coming in. You know - like when you have 2 identical engine sitting side by side idling at the same speed? LOVE IT!
  7. Greetings all, I'm pretty sure I saw some photos of a decaled 2nd Gen RSV somewhere on this site last year. The bike was a white one (2004?) and the owner had applied beautiful blue coloured "flame" licks that ran along the sides of the tank, onto the side covers and continued on to the panniers. I'm seriously thinking of dressing up my 2004 RSV a bit, and would like to get something similar done. Who remembers the photos, or better still - who owns that bike and posted those shots? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all. Stay safe.
  8. Have booked the RSV in to my local Yamaha stealer tomorrow week to have the shock installed. Also having a general pre-ride check done (tyre and shock pressures etc, check fluid levels and conditions etc) before doing my 4 days sojourn with my brothers mid-March. That'll be a BIG couple of days. Me, 3 Hardlies and a Honda 1100 Super bol d'or. Have decided to leave the Samson pipes on. Can't have the Hardlies out-roaring me now, can I?

  10. What I like about my bike is . . . there is only one other RSV within 200kms of my home town. A mate bought a 2007 about 8 months ago and I haven't seen him or it since. I believe he and his wife are too busy riding aroung Oz. What I also like about my bike is the VIN. It ends with 00058. What does that tell you?
  11. We're back. Had a dream run. We tend to stop every 100kms or so to stretch our bums or have a coffee. Carry a couple of mini vacuum flasks for the purpose. Wall to wall blue skies both ways and temps nudging 80degF. Now I'm looking forward to my annual run with my brothers in 4 weeks time. Gotta get that new rear shock fitted first.
  12. I know a lot of you guys and gals State-side are suffering through some potent cold snaps. Without rubbing it in at all, I thought I'd just let you know that tomorrow my pillion-in-a-million and I are doing a 600kms round trip (overnighter) to visit my parents. They're both in their 80s and have no idea we are coming. Going to spring a surprise on them. And the weather forecast for the next few days? Overnight minima of 14degC and daytime maxima of 28degC (82degF). Couldn't ask for more than that. See you when we get back. :)
  13. Hang on a minute there Robert, me old mate. I said NOTHING about wishing any sort of disease on ANYBODY! Now people are going to get the wrong idea about me (or is it about you?):rotf:
  14. One of the good things about living close to the international date line is most days here in Australia, it's tomorrow for those of you in the States. We get Santa before you at Christmas time, the easter bunny becomes road-kill here first etc etc. So - let me be the first to wish those of you who still believe in love and all the magic it brings - - (especially YamaMama and Mini-Muffin) HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY My pillion-in-a-million's half day at work today whilst I have the day off. Nothing mentioned about Valentine's Day at all this morning. I'm just waiting until she gets home this afternoon. I dropped in to a florist shop yesterday and arranged for a dozen tulips to be delivered to her at work this morning. (I'm smooth!)
  15. Good morning all. Walked across the road to the post office 10 minutes ago, and there was a parcel waiting for me - all the way from Flat Out. Despatched at 6:51pm February 8th from Greenwood Indiana and arrived in my home town in Oz at 6am February 14th. Six days from go to whoa! Can't beat that. I've already pre-warned my local Yamaha stealer that I want to have him fit it and give the bike a service for me before my week away mid-March. So again - many thanks to all and sundry who got this kicked off for me. Chris at Flat Out was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Kept the communication lines open and dealt with my order with the utmost efficiency. Now, all I gotta do is more riding (with a bit more rebound in the rear end!)
  16. Nitrogen makes the tyres run cooler. I've also been told that bike tyres need to run as warm as possible to make the compounds sticky for better road handling. Any thoughts???

  18. Nursing student shoots dead classmates February 9, 2008 - 7:00AM Source: ABC Police say a nursing student has shot two women to death and killed herself in front of horrified classmates at a college in the southern US state of Louisiana. Police spokesman L'Jean McKneely says investigators still did not have a motive for the killings at the Louisiana Technical College in the state capital, Baton Rouge. Details such as the names of the victims and the type of weapon used have not yet been released. - Reuters
  19. A gunman killed five people after opening fire at City Hall in the St. Louis suburb of Kirkwood on Thursday night, according to media reports. The St Louis Post-Dispatch reported the shooter killed a police officer outside City Hall and then entered the building and shot and killed another officer. "He shot three other people who were attending the council meeting. They also are deceased," the newspaper quoted officer Tracy Panus as saying. The paper also quoted police as saying they later killed the gunman. - Reuters It's still happening, I see!

    Storms!

Hey y'all up there in the good old U S of A. Been watching the news tonight about the tornados in TN etc. Man - what an unholy mess. I hope y'all and yours are okay. I know it's all over for now - just hope you don't get a re-run. I wish I was closer (with no water in between) so I could ride in and give y'all a hand if you needed it. Prayers, love and light to those who need it.
  21. Mark, That was an awesome little clip. The sound I mean - what pipes you running?
  22. Sorry Bob - was ALL of your post to do with fitting a 2nd Gen, or is there some personal stuff in there you didn't mean to share?:rotf:
  23. Picked this up on another forum so I thought I'd inject a little light humour into the thread. Believed to be fact - as reported on Fox News... Any knowledge of this one? Some "dirtbag" in Polk County Florida who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop ended up "executing" the deputy who stopped him. The deputy was shot 8 times, including once behind his right ear at close range. Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed. A statewide manhunt ensued. The offender was found hiding in a wooded area with his gun. SWAT team officers fired 110 rounds and hit the guy 68 times. Now here's the question: Naturally, the media asked why they shot him 68 times. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, told the Orlando Sentinel: "That's all the bullets we had!" :no-no-no: :rotf:
  24. I'm 192cm (6'4") and 90kg (200lbs) and the RSV (2nd Gen) fits me like a glove. Never ridden anything that fits so well.
