  1. Hey Steve W, What a great project to be working on. I have a bit of an affection for 'older' Hondas. One of my brothers still rides the 1100 Super bol d'or he bought new over 20 years ago. It has only 25,000kms on it. I used to own a CB750 K2 that I restored. Couple of pics attached to 'assist' you with a target. Steve P
  2. Now - that has you intrigued, or you wouldn't be having a look. DIL = Daughter-In-Law. Married 4 weeks and told us 2 days ago we can expect to be grand-parents (first time for us) in a little under 9 months time. Can't beat that. Enjoy the photos. (Yes, they're mine. Nothing like being a pro photographer. Saves paying someone else to do the job!)
  3. It all depends how many Aussies and Kiwis are also drinking at the watering hole. Being our daylight hours would tend to overinflate the impression that there is lots of night owls on line. No?
  4. Well done, Gary. The more I see the 2006 colour - the more I like it. One beautiful machine.
  5. Three weeks ago my pillion and I attended our younger son's wedding - about 4 hours away. He and his new bride are visiting us for Easter, and they just announced that we're gonna be grandparents - for the first time. Whew. I'm all of 56 and never thought I'd make it. How's that for great news?:cool10: P.S. - Don't let on to anyone else, as they are still to let my other son and my daughter know.
  6. Hipshot. The only funny accent down this end of the world is in New Zealand. Nothin' funny about us Aussie blokes. Then again, we don't sound anything like Forrest Gump!
  7. I've just finished the postcard for last weekend's ride. Attached.
  8. Thanks for the comments on the photos. Appreciated. I am a pro photographer, but when I'm riding I only use a small digital camera. My pro stuff is too big and too expensive to carry on the bike. I've attached 4 more shots. These are 5x7 'postcards' that I make from the shots I take on each ride, and give them to the brothers and our parents after each ride. We slowly add them to composite frames that we feature in our living rooms around the country. You'll notice that I started with my 750 Honda 4 on the first ride. Second ride was after I had restored and painted it - blue. Following year I was on my BMW R1150RT, then last year was the first with the RSV. Obviously this year was the RSV again. Enjoy.
  9. Dosie doe, Heel and toe, Way to go, Way to go.
  10. I do not try to explain why I ride motorcycles. For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For those who don't - no explantion is possible!
  11. You bet Mark. This was the fifth year in a row we did it. We were all at the youngest brother's wedding six years ago, and lamented the fact that the only time we got together was for a wedding or a funeral. We decided there and then to change that, and organise a ride every year - sometime close to Easter. So we did. First year was around 1,200 kms. Second year 1,500kms. Third year 900kms. Last year 1,000 kms and this year 2,000 kms. Soon adds up.
  12. . . . and to show you how much of a crop that was, here's the original foter.
  13. Me too, John. Couldn't be simpler, could it? Have attached a foter (very small crop of a much larger photo) to show it in situ.
  14. Greetings all, Just back from a weekend away with my 4 brothers. Thought I'd share a couple of photos with you. Shot 1 is the 5 of us - the 2004 RSV, 3 Hardlies and a Honda 1100 Super bol d'or. All up nearly 7 litres of engine capacity in 14 cylinders. Nobody has stock pipes, and boy did we turn heads as we slowly rumbled through the countryside. Shot 2 is yours truly. Shot 3 is typical of the countryside around where I live. I'm about 3 hours from home here. And no - we do not ride on the right side of the road. I just wanted to pull up in the shade for a drink and leak. Enjoy.
  15. Gee Dan. I nearly forgot about the shock. Like riding on a cloud. Nice not bottoming out in the causeways and floodways. Mind you with the weight of the bike, me and my gear we made up nearly half a ton. Something must be working right. Cheers mate.
  16. Thanks C1. Anthony IS a biker - trouble is he's a Triumph man. Even owns a classic Triumph car. Spear
  17. I want to share a couple of good things from today. Just back home after an 822kms (500+miles) ride today out of a 2,000kms (1250 miles) 4 days away with my 4 brothers on bikes. Beautiful weather and a numb bum. That's the first highlight. The second highlight - my (only) daughter's boyfriend of 9 years rang me and asked for her hand in marriage. Couldn't say no, but I did thank him for asking. Ain't that sweet?
  18. Constant thoughts and prayers from The Great Southern Land. Hang in there mate!
  19. Sidney , Australia $3.42 Somebody's dreaming here. In Sydney (not Sidney) Australia we pay $AU1.40 per litre. That's $US1.30 per litre One US gallon = 3.79 litres. (An Aussie gallon is 4.5 litres). That makes our fuel worth $AU5.30 per gallon or $US4.91. That's nearly a 50% difference to what you're saying! I wish I was paying only $3.42 a gallon.
  20. - - - and that's the EXACT reason I no longer take my helmet into a diner when I have a feed. It tends to eat more than I do. :rotf:
  21. Forget about getting a round tuit FrogMan. Slip down to the general store and see if they have any square tuits. The trouble with a round tuits is you're never able to fit it neatly into a corner until such time as you need it. Now, a square tuit on the other hand - that's a different matter. So, if you never get around tuit you can use your square tuit. :rotf:
  22. I'm curious. How is a Wal-Mart car park private property, when it is open to and used by the public? If that happened down-under it would be as good as if it was on the highway. A shopping centre car park (open to and used by the public) is a public place and governed by the same rules as out on the road. Just my 2c worth. More importantly, glad the holy trinity is still in place - you, the bike and the beer (in that order.)
  23. Now - how illegal is that? No brake light on the trailer! :rotf:
  24. Looks like fun on the downhill run. Getting back home must be a real challenge.
  25. I once worked with a bloke who was christened "box head" by one of our sergeants. When we were measured up for our uniforms everything was pretty well off-the-shelf - until it came to the hat. The uniform supply branch had troubles finding a hat big enough to fit him, so the sergeant told him to throw away the hat and wear the box that it came in. Hence "box head". (Could be worth considering - as long as helmets still come in boxes!):rotf:
