Secret diplomatic payments are not made unless the funds are related to terrorist activities why must your payment be made in secret transfer, if your transaction is legitimate, if you are not a terrorist, then why did you not receive the money directly into your account; this is a pure coded, means of payment? 3. You should keep your mouth open, otherwise they'll crap in ya eye.:rotf:
  4. Wasn't interested in going to that extreme. I did however figure out how old it was. I just looked up its date! :rotfl:
  5. Hey Eck. Nearly all of these landmarks have roads going right around them as well as walking tracks. You can spend hours taking it all in from up close. As for rough riding going over the top - you're right!
  6. You've got me. What's the idea of packing the parachute on the rear end? PS - love the shots and the ride. http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk364/rsvangel/July%204th%20Ride%202008/HPIM0804.jpg
  7. Just sharing a few more Central Australia shots with you. Don't you just love the colours of the outback. Might entice a few more of you to "come on down." I'd love to do the trip again - this time on the RSV. Need riding companions though. #1 - me and my bride at The Olgas. #2 - me at Uluru at sunset. #3 - Uluru next morning from the opposite side. #4 - my bride sitting on the rim of Kings Canyon.
  8. Hey guys. Just wanted to share a couple of shots from my recent 5 weeks away in Central Australia and the Top End with my bride. #1 is me riding pillion. #2 is shooting sunset at Uluru. #3 is an average sized termite mound in Kakadu. #4 crossed our paths when we were in the Kakadu Wetlands (Foggs Dam). Enjoy. There's 4,296 more where they came from.
  9. Actually, the trailer is not that big. In the second shot the size is exaggerated by the fact that it's shot with a wide-angle (18mm) lens. The first shot is a truer perspective. All up I think Larry said it weighed 125kg (1/3 the dry weight of the bike).
  10. Yep. Shocking, isn't it? (ETP!) My rear shock on my 2004 crapped itself at 29,000kms. Replaced it with a genuine unit from Yamahaha. Imported it from the USA and paid just over of half what the local Yamahaha stealer wanted for it. Like someone said above, it's a fault built into the bike by Yamahaha. Wouldn't you think they'd out-source the thing to Works to supply the shock so the bike was a 100% item?
  11. Don't know if you're talking about 1st or 2nd Gens here. I have 1 key to open everything - panniers and fuel cap - and to operate the ignition. (2nd gen). I also have 2 spare keys that came with the bike. One is hidden on the bike, and requires a hex key to remove something to get at it. Say no more! As for numbers on locks - can I suggest that you get an engraver and 'destroy' those visible numbers? I could check the numbers on the locks on YOUR bike in a parking lock, walk into a locksmith and have a key cut, go to your bike and ride it away. If you and I can do it, why can't a thief?
  12. Hey Don, They're all dead on the side of the road. Never seen so much road-kill. Nobody drives or rides out here after sundown, unless you're pushing a 150ft road train. Those things cruise through the day and night at 130km/hr and stop for nothing. As I pulled in to Longreach in Queensland on my trip, I decided to count the roadkill in the last 15kms before town. Counted 58 carcasses - mostly roos.
  13. Hey guys. A couple of pix of a 2nd Gen in Central Australia - trailer and all. The owner/rider is Larry who has just joined us under the name Wedge. This is how you travel in Oz - in style!
  14. Loud (after-market) pipes are the #1 problem Down Under, and the Police and Transport authorities now and then have blitzes on them. They mainly target the OMCG in the larger centres and leave the solo guys alone - especially if they're riding 'quietly'. I have Samson after-markets on my 2004 RSV and manage to ride 'quietly' in built-up areas. I'm a former LEO and know the rules and the ropes!
  15. Goes on all the time. Commonly known as the Nigerian Scam. Forward the email to the FBI or whoever cares.
  16. Man, that's scarey stuff! And from what I see on the TV and in the movies, some of those deer ain't all that petite. On our recent 11,000kms trip through the Aussie outback (tin top) we had 2 wild brumbies dart across the highway in front of us about 20 metres away, and some days later a couple of pademelon (like a kangaroo) jumped onto the road and back into the scrub again. My speed at both times was 120km/hr - but - driving a Subaru made all the difference. With the brumbies, heavy but controlled braking and with the pademelon - tactical swerve around them both. Fortunately I was the only vehicle within 50kms so no worries with taking out another motorist. (Gets like that in the Aussie outback!) The only real danger on the roads with animal strikes is the wedge-tailed eagles that sit in the middle of the road eating roadkill - usually kangaroos. They're massive birds - wing spans up to 2 metres - and they are slow to lift off when you approach. And when they do lift off it's not usually AWAY from the roadway, but OVER the roadway, so they also become roadkill if the motorists aren't au-fait with their habits. Closest I got was the wing tips of one clipping the side mirror. Actually got that on video. So - to sum up. GLAD YOU'RE BOTH OKAY AND THE BIKE IS STILL RIDEABLE!
  17. Gee Seaking. You had me worried for a while. I thought you wanted to weld up your ABS brakes! Glad I read through the thread.
  18. Thanks for the welcome back guys. Would love to still be there, but have to work to pay for next year's trip. Looks like it may be Canada. As for photos - give me time. I have to process over 4,000 RAW files.
  19. Thanks Goose. Persevered with it. A little gentle persuasion (after the sun had warmed the bike up and I started her again to warm the motor) by slight pressure pushing and pulling the choke off and on and she came good. Musta been having a tizzy fit. Women do that! And then - I went for a quick 10 minutes ride, just to say that I had! Cheers.
  20. Started my 2004 RSV this morning after about 6 weeks of inactivity. It's the middle of winter here and I've been away for 5 weeks, touring the warmer climes of this great country in my tin top. Pulled the choke fully out, gave the throttle a twist, let it rest, hit the starter and the engine popped in to life after about 8 cranks. Let her idle a little to warm up, then when I tried to ease the choke off it wouldn't go. Moves about 1/4" at the most, but does not throw back to fully off. I've poked, pulled and pushed from both sides without over-doing it for fear of bending or breaking something. I GOTTA RIDE! Anybody have any clues? :puzzled: Thanks guys.
  21. Hey guys, Made it back today - 5 days ahead of schedule. Some statistics for you: Away from home for 30 days. Took 4,300 photos. Best sessions was 570 shots in a 2 hours session in the wetlands in Kakadu. Drove 10,688kms and did the entire length of the longest highway in Australia. Crossed the continent (north to south) twice to do it all. Swam with crocodiles, ate barramundi and generally had a bloody good time! Used 1,100 litres of fuel that cost me $1,900. Spent $900 on various accommodation, from unpowered campsites to motel rooms. Temperatures ranged from 33degC (in the north) to 0degC the day we got back home. Did not encounter 1 drop of rain in those 30 days. Saw only 1 RSV in my travels, and that was at a road house in the middle of the Outback.
  22. Any time Eck. I'll let you know when I'm back, don't y'all worry. _____________________________ Hey Don. Just tried an earlier reply to this message and it came back with an error of the website not being found. My reply had disappeared - so I had to re-do it. Spear
  23. Greetings all, Just a quick post to let you know I won't be annoying anybody for a while after tomorrow. Bright and early Thursday morning Wendy and I are heading off on a 5 weeks camping holiday through Central Australia. No bike - taking the Subaru Outback. In that time we will cover the entire continent from south to north (Adelaide to Darwin) then back again through inland Queensland. Check your atlas! Not taking any wireless broadband, so won't be on-line for those 5 weeks. Will however (when time and opportunity permit) check in to internet cafes and let you know how we're travelling. Plan on taking 4 cameras with me so I'll have thousands of images to play with whilst away, and hopefully sell a few when I get back to help finance the holiday. Y'all be careful out there you hear. I'll miss the 5,000th member joining, but whoever it may be - Welcome. Cheers from the Great Southern Land. Spear
  24. NOW - THERE'S A POSITIVE ATTITUDE!
