Greetings from Down Under, where it's Easter already. It's 11:15am Good Friday, and I've just had a sleep in. Got up and had a rumble with my new baby grand-son who is visiting for a few days, had a BBQ breakfast and am now going to veg out for the rest of the day. Just wanted to get in early (well, early for you guys on the other side of the international date line) to wish you all the best. If you're riding over the Easter break, do it safely. Catcha all later.

Hermann, Thank you my man. The DVD arrived today, just in time for Easter viewing. Who gets it next? I'm surprised at you guys. I'm going to start a little autograph book to be clipped in the front of the DVD case. I'll sign it first (and date it) and I'd like to think that the rest of us who get it will add their little bit. Woo hooooooooooooooo!:happy65:

No idea. Like I said, Email Ria direct at harleyria@bigpond.com and ask her. I've already told her that some of you guys are chasing this patch, so she can expect inquiries. Spear

Hey guys. I told you I'd show you what my new Aussie Venture patch looks like. Got it in the mail last week. This is a direct scan. It's 10" x 6". Anybody else in Oz (or anywhere else for that matter) want one, just email harleyria@bigpond.com

Looked like Italy to me. You're all correct though - probably one of his last rides. Well, it should have been anyway. That guy has a death wish. Go back and watch it again and count the number of red lights he ran. And as for the bike cop ignoring him - best thing he could have done. You engage an idiot like that in a pursuit and nobody wins - somebody dies.

Told ya! :no-no-no: And BTW - An ATM is an ATM, not an ATM Machine. That would make it an Automatic Teller Machine Machine. Just like a PIN is a PIN - not a PIN number. That would make it a Personal Identification Number Number. (Do I sound like I'm repeating myself? Repeating myself??) :rotf:
-
Okay. And what if your PIN, like mine is the same both ways? Huh? Sounds like somebody is having a go at somebody!!!

Gee thanks boss. My patch designer lady is gonna do another design for me, incorporating a map of Australia. I'll give you a look at it when it's designed. Check her out here. Pity she rides a Harley! http://www.oztion.com.au/vshops/vshops.aspx?shopid=1080

Cougar, That's a picture in my post of what it will look like.

Don (and fellow members) Would anybody mind if I had my own VentureRider patch made Down Under? Would save a lot of hassles and postage etc (not to mention the exchange rate factor!) [Just wondering if there is a copyright on this???]

I haven't owned a hell of a lot of bikes in my days, but I've had enough between school, marriage, family, working 3 jobs, a mortgage and finally retiring. Started with an old Honda Dream on which I courted my wife at school - nearly 40 years ago. In later years after getting married and #1 son came along I ended up with a CB250 Honda twin. #1 loved riding on the tank - as you can see. Got rid of that around 1980 and bought a second-hand Yamaha 400 twin, that I can't seem to find any photos of. Don't think I had it long enough to photograph. Then there was a massive break until 1999 when I bought my dream bike - a 1972 Honda CB750/4. The motor had been worked to 836cc and it had a 4>1 exhaust system. Sounded awesome, but the paint job was crap. Acquired a near new 4>4 exhaust system, had the bike re-painted by a fellow CB750/4 owner and master spray painter and rode that for a few years. Decided to upgrade to an RSV, but the one the dealer said was due in for trade didn't arrive so I had to settle for a BMW R1150RT. Sold the 750/4 to a collector. Then a couple of years ago (about the time I joined this forum) I saw an ad on another forum I belong to where a guy wanted to swap his 2004 RSV for a BMW R1150RT. Could not believe my luck. We talked, we bartered and I bargained with him, and eventually gave him some cash and we swapped. We both won, but I got the better end of the deal. The shots attached show you a little of my bike ownership history. 1. My wife (then 18) on my Honda Dream. 2. Me and #1 son (now 30) on the CB250. 3. The 750/4 as I bought it but with a modified seat. 4. The 750/4 after I restored it. 5. The 750/4 with the new 4>4 pipes (before full restoration) 6. The BMW I bought because I couldn't get the Venture 7. Same girl as in photo 1 but with the latest bike. Love 'em both to bits! Been married 35 years this year.

It's ironic isn't it? Here in Australia the Federal Government is handing out money left right and centre to some of the less fortunate as part of a global incentive to get people spending money to get the country back on its feet - as is happening in most of the world. Despite the fact that the south-east corner of Australia is being ravaged by bushfires - in the far north of the east side of the country (Queensland) the countryside is under water, and has been for weeks. And it's still raining. What a country of extremes. But - get this. Some people in the flood-bound north who have received their $1,000 bonus from the government are sending their money down south to the bush fire victims. No that brings a lump to my threat and a tear to my eye.

Hi don. Death toll hasn't hit 200 - yet - but is expected to do so. My daughter's friend with whom she once worked in Marysville was seen by another friend who lives in the far west of New South Wales (Broken Hill) being interviewed on TV. Quick phone call to my daughter in Adelaide to let her know. Much relief all round. I've been watching it all again on TV tonight, and the fires are still raging and there are more towns under threat. The worst problem is the winds that are carrying the fire through the countryside.

Thanks guys. I believe there is one or two members in Victoria. I'll have to check the membership list, contact them and see how they're faring. Just received a cheery E-mail from my daughter who has been reminiscing on her days in Marysville, and she sent me this link. Have a look at how beautiful Marysville used to be. http://www.travelvictoria.com.au/marysville/photos/ The buildings you see in these shots are now nothing but piles of ash. The fires are still burning. Temperatures are in the mid- to high-40s (over 100degF), with high winds and everything is so dry due to the drought we have been experiencing. All the elements you need for such a disaster.

Just reading all the posts in this thread, having been a LEO for 28 years and now working with Probation and Parole - I see so much of this stuff. Don't want to rub it in anywhere at all, but I'm blessed with a marriage that so far has been one hell of a ride for the past 35 years with 3 beautiful kids - all married - and our first grandchild. Sure, we've had a few ups and down, but they're all part of that one hell of a ride. I counsel people in your position and I'm able to call on my life experiences and my own life to help me. Be assured my thoughts are with you and all you are going through. Don't be nasty - be nice. That'll beat 'em every time.
