  1. I too had a lot of metal on and around the magnet when I changed the final drive lube on my 06 RSV. I premixed some moly paste in the new oil and filled the final drive with that. There wasn't much metal the next change. I've changed each 1,000 miles and added the moly paste and all seems well so far. That Moly is some tough stuff...
  2. Avons aren't always the answer either. I replaced the Dunlops with Avons on two occations and both times have aquired the wobble. The stealer always replaced the tires and rectified the problem but I've marked Avon's outa my book as a replacement. I'll just stick with Dunlops but that's what life is all about, choices.
  3. I have had my 06 RSV since March and have locked the rear brake 3 times thus far, recovering each time with no damage except to my nerves. Each time the RSV slid sideways. Probably my fault because my two previous bikes were a 05 Goldwing and a 03 VTX 1800. I've put several thousand miles on the Hondas and never locked a rear brake, I believe, because of the linked systems. I have ordered the valve from Zach , which I hope cushions the RSV system. Why the RSV has such a powerful rear brake is beyond me. It will be interesting to hear other incidents.
  4. I need a headlight assy that will fit my 06 RSV. I want to try the mod and don't want to ruin my good one. If anyone has one, broken or not, give me a shout at trandeod@frontiernet.net.
  5. Yessir, I'm working on the front brake useage and also looking at the proportioning valve mod. I also want to do the headlight mod that ech? came up with. If anyone has a headlight assy laying around with a broken lens I'm interested in getting one. Just email me. trandeod@frontiernet.net. Thanks, Tom
  6. Yep, I removed the 'eyebrows' and it gave the front a much cleaner look....How did you shorten the windshield? That's something I've been thinking about too.....Now if I could just get the rear brake to quit locking up so easy!!!!!
  7. Wow, I can't believe all these problems! I've got over 10,000 miles on my 06 and had zero problems.........Think I'll go buy some lotto tickets!!!
  8. Spent 26 yrs active duty AF and hung it up; went to Mc Donnell Douglas for another 6 years got vested and hung that up all in my first 49 years, 4 months. That was over 15 years ago and I haven't looked back. I've been retired retired and I'm having a ball. I got my medicare card so guess I'm getting old. So many bikes so little time!!
  9. I was there as well on my 06 Black Cherry....opted to tour the town via the horse and carriage........the traffic was terrible but we still had a good time. Had a few hot wings and cruised on up to Blairsville via Hiwassie and spent the night. Didn't see a lot of Ventures.
  10. I switched to Avons on my VTX and got one out-of-round. The dealer says he's getting a lot of them. He ordered a new one and it was okay. When it came time to "shoe" my RSV, I went back to Dunlops. Hard to beat a winner.
  11. Hundreds are doing it on the Goldwings and VTX's. Check'em out on www.gl1800riders.com. They call it the darkside. They sure put up a good argument.
  12. Just changed my rear tire from the OEM Bridgestone to the Dunlop 404's and it feels great...again...any new tire will make a worn tire out to be bad. I've always run Dunnies on my Goldwings, Road Star, VTX's and always got good handling and mileage so I'm sticking with'em. I put Avon's on my VTX and got the front wheel wobble right off. The tire dealer changed out the tire to another Avon and it was ok. just my 2 cents worth.
  13. Does anyone have any idea what the cost of the 8000 mile checkup might be?
  14. How do we go about lowering the front an inch. I'm new to my 06 RSV and could stand some better handling. Thanks.
  15. Daytripper: Does your stock seat have the chrome trim on it?If you're going to sell it I may be interested in buying it. Thanks.
