Thanks for the replies. Sounds like an easy enough thing to do on the weekend. I don't have a fairing on mine and I want to have it blend in with the bike's look. Let's just say she stands out a bit. Here's a pic. EDIT: Is this the Stebel? I have been contemplating installing an Air Horn on my 98 RS. I was curious to see if anyone has installed one and what type would work best. I was looking at the Wolo's but they seem too bulky and I'm looking at trumpets but I wouldn't know where the mounting points would be. Thanks in advance

Batwing Fairings
vee4dfw replied to vee4dfw's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I saw the Reckless site but they have Royal Star 2005+. Are the fork mountings from a 98 and 2005+ that different? Have a neighbor here with a 99 RoadStar and the windshield and mounts look identical to the eye. In my experience most Yamaha cruiser models have at least 20-30% of the same chassis parts. Example all fender bolts for the Royal Star Vstar Road Star all measure 9.25" and their stays are interchangeable. Front fender mounts are about the same. The 96-98 Royal Star and at least the 99-2003 Road Star front ends are bolt on swaps. Rakes might be a tad different. Before I spend some bucks I just want to make sure that I have at least a fairing where by I only have to tweak the brackets. -
FAIRING for Tour Classic

bumping it to the front -
I see folks on Ebay selling 2005+ Royal Star fairings and 99+ Roadstar fairings. I have my 98 wind shield mounts. I don't need a stereo. I was just thinking of mounting a GPS unit in it. Does anyone know where I can get a batwing that will fit a 98 RS? PS I also like that Klockwerks SP fairing

I am ordering matching12 oz tan leather saddlebags but it's in crusing mode now. This is my 98 with 2001 4x2 exhaust w/ tailgunner pipes, corbin gunfighter, and 12 oz tan leather tank bra.

I review resumes all the time and a cover letter is not needed. I just need where you worked at the last 10 years or so. Keep it to two pages. In your summaries include a brief narrative on how you made improvements in quality or dollars saved. Also do yourself a favor and get an account on Linked In.

4X4 Bub Exhaust
vee4dfw replied to vee4dfw's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
They are in very good condition as far I can tell. There is a little ding on top of one of them but it's the lower right pipe. You have to look hard to see it. Thanks for your input. -
Howdy all, I have a BUB 4x4 exhaust on my 98 RS and I am going to be converting it to a 4x2. I heard that these pipes are rare. Does anyone have any idea how much they are worth if I Ebay or sell them? I'm trying to finance all my mods. Thanks in advance

From a guy that has tried every combination of carb setup on his V-Max. Please visit the http://www.vmaxforum.net/ for carb info. Once you start messing with your jets and your mixture, there is no going back unless you have a oxygen sniffer. I recommend for now just checking float heights and looking at the diaphrams for any small cracks. Also check your boots and airbox for tightness. Minor housekeeping like that provides recovered power. Also do the 'shotgun' or "pea shooter" procedure. As far as your clutch, if you don't have a ton of miles on it, just bleed your clutch line. Just trying to save you some buck$. The V4's are bullet proof and need minimal off season servicing.

Ethanol Fuel issues!!
vee4dfw replied to af226's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The ethanol eats away at the carb diaphrams and will cause small tears in them. It's always good to take them out after the riding season is over and hold them up to the light for inspection. The poor man's solution for micros tears is a small dab of crazy glue. You don't want to store the bike for the winter with tears because the cold will stiffen the diaphrams and when you fire the bike up after storage they won't be very pliable and the tears will get worse. -
Yeah, I have "fairing" envy. My wife is watching the checkbook closely because of all the mod$$ I threw on the VMAX. I'm going to have to ninja any changes to mine I already snuck in a couple .

1998 BUB exhaust system
vee4dfw replied to vee4dfw's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The update from Bub is they might have made a custom version for this bike. In which case it's an ultra rare set. I might just purchase a stock set and have them modified for the tailgunners. I'm not going to cut up a unique system. -
Your ride looks wonderful. I just came into a 98 with 32K on it. My only recommendation is to be mindful of your current electrical load. I have heard that 96-98 had weak electrical load characteristics. You might look into a heavier rectifier/regulator and heavier magneto. Those things are electrically similar on any bike. The only difference are mounting points. Maybe one off a Goldwing would be better? I am going the opposite direction. I removed the backrest, saddle bags/brackets, windshield and mounts. I'm just going to add hard patrol bags.

Go see 'defending the caveman' the tickets are reasonable and it's funny. Try not to gamble too much at the machines. The payout is horrible now becasue they are taking a bath out there. I spend alot of time in LV becasue of my work. Also if you want to sleep at night [why sleep?] Stay at the Polo Towers across the street from the Monte Carlo. These are time share condos that all the amenities and the cost is far less than staying at a casino.
