The wife is back on the bike with me this year after almost 7 years. Issues with her neck/back had kept her from riding, and it sure feels good to have her back where she belongs. We rode to the Smokies over Memorial Day, and have been logging some long rides with a couple of friends on weekends. I guess you could say that all is right in the riding world again. Heck, I ain't even complaining about using the headsets again!

That's a good lookin' ride puc! I always have liked the older HD sound, just something about it,,,,,.

It only weighs a little over 400 lbs, and I remember back in the day how fast those late 70's 750's were. She's gonna do a LOT of parking lot work, AND the MSF before she gets turned loose on it. Who knows, I might even find something that suits her a little better and have a little trading edge.

You know what they say, a friend has your back, a good friend helps you bury the bodies.

I just saw a new Deka store this week south of Louisville, they must be opening some retail stores. Haven't had a Deka in years, but I remember them as being good batteries.

Yeah, a buddy of mine, Stratcat, is into "vintage" Hondas now. This ones a little "newer" than what he's buying but he said I couldn't really go wrong at that price. It's all stock, just needs a good detailing. It's got a couple of dings in the tank, but I figured it'd be a good learner bike. I'd been looking around at 250's/500's and you can just about buy new for what a nice used one is priced. The pic is in my album now.

Didn't realize it'd been 3 months since I'd been on here, man time sure flies. Been kinda busy with work, just hadn't taken the time to log on. The wife has started dropping not-so-subtle hints that she wants to learn to ride. Yesterday I was on my way home and just happened to see a pretty nice '93 Nighthawk 750 at a local pawn shop. Long story short, it's found a new home. It only has 8900 miles on it, good tires, purrs like a kitten. It's got a little bit of "character", but it all looks like it was from a fall over, no evidence of slides anywhere. Picked it up for $1100. Putting a pic on my profile in a few minutes. Hopefully when this last bit of winter gets out of here the weather will start to cooperate.

Good luck with the job!

Anytime they add metal to you it takes a while for the soreness/tenderness to settle down. Kick back and enjoy it as best you can, it'll be over soon enough. Good luck!

,,,, if only I lived in Florida. I meet a guy on a 'wing almost every morning on my way to work. He works at Fort Knox and rides every day there's not ice on the road. Noticed this morning he had a riding suit on, but up til now all I'd seen him in was a leather jacket and chaps. Guess I'm a wuss cause my hands just can't take the cold anymore.

That's great news, home is always better even though it's a little rough at first. I had a fusion with 2 rods/6 screws of L-4-L5-S1 in Feb '11. Definitely takes the flex out of the low back, but hopefully it'll also take away the pain. I still have a tiny bit of tingling/numbness in my feet but it's a small trade for being able to function again. I had a similar issue with my heart, doc said it was because they had me out for nearly 6 hours. Give him our best for a full & speedy recovery.

I bought a 6" dark tinted Slipstream for my '99, it fit like a glove.

Had my first one, an '04 Midnight, for 5 years. Back issues forced the sale of it and the purchase of an '03 Roadstar. Rode it for a year, things got better, so I bought a low mileage '99 red/silver in Aug '12. I don't foresee this one going anywhere anytime soon. I LOVE these bikes, very easy to own.

Had my left hip replaced in Dec. '06. At that time it was considered "minimally invasive" surgery, still wound up with a 6" slit across my back pocket and a 2" on the side. Absolutely the best, (and at the time the only), thing I'd ever had done. My doc said mine should be good for 20+ yrs, plus it can be replaced in "parts" if need be, ceramic socket, titanium ball. I was 48 at the time, and the doc said I waited about 3 years too long. A friend of mine had one of hers done last year and they do an anterior approach now, VERY small incisions with a lot less muscle intrusion. She wasn't even on a walker, just a cane for 3 weeks. The only thing that bothers mine now is really cold weather. After the ice storm here in '09 I cleaned up limbs/trees for close to 2 months. At times I'd hear a faint "noise" while walking on uneven ground, it was my hip joint "squeaking". He said it was getting dry from all the use it was getting. That was the only time it did it. Good luck to her, keep us posted.

It'd definitely be an ADVENTURE if you TOURED on a Ural. Those pics bring back the good 'ol days of dirt bikes and little sense. Oh, and you can keep that stuff that's stuck to the mirror too, had enuf of THAT stuff in '09! Just started sleeting here, justt supposed to get a "dusting". I may get to find out how well that Nissan NV2500 sitting outside does donuts.

Mine FINALLY got here tonite, going to put them on tomorrow when I get home. I got my "hidden" antenna last week, gonna start slimming/trimming it down a little.

MAN!! Boss, if you were going to go over to the "dark side", why couldn't you have done it a year ago when I was looking for another Venture?!? Seriously, someone is going to get a very nice ride at a very nice price. Good luck!

Ditto on the concrete work, definitely NOT for an amateur. That's a nice looking building, what are the dimensions? I had a 24 x 24 x 10 built back in '10, wish now I'd done at least 32 x 24. I had mine insulated too, that was $$'s very well spent.

I like a guy that's got his priorities straight! Any time we ride Ind. 66 along the Ohio River we always make a stop at Wall Drive-in at Cannelton Ind.

In this day and age when many marriages fail, I believe milestones are worth celebrating. Everybody enjoy life...and ride safely. Well said!!!!

The ONE accessory I have wanted since I bought my first Venture in '06,,,,,, lower air vents. Finally just bit the bullet and ordered them from Yamaha Sports Plaza. A friend put a set on his this spring and said that's his favorite accessory so far. Got an email today saying they have shipped, should be here by the end of the week.

Yea that stop light was there when we were there for Vogel. It's on the far end from the Gap store. Just a ways past the big turnout where you can pull off the road on both side. Where the road straightens out and runs along the river. Their doing rock slide repairs so shutting down to one lane. Larry So it's over near the Foothills Pkwy, I wasn't sure where it was at, haven't been able to make it down there this year,,,, yet. Got my plans/reservations made for Memorial Day 2014 though!!

4 wheels are ALMOST as much fun as 2 on the Dragon, went thru a couple of times in the Sebring, you just gotta be sure to have the top down. I checked out the Tail of the Dragon website a few days ago and it says they have a stoplight on it now because of construction? That'd be a bummer,,,,,.

Congrats, 36 yrs here and sometimes it still seems like yesterday. My Dad always told me the older you get, the faster time goes by. I completely understand what he meant now.

I'm looking at doing the same to clean mine up too. I stopped at a local car audio shop a couple weeks ago and the guy said this is about the best hidden antenna he's used in a fairing. He said it will pick up "strong" FM stations for about 50 miles. I usually just use the radio around town anyway, mp-3 the rest of the time.
