About a year ago I poked my left palm with a screwdriver. Didn't think too much about it, cleaned it out with peroxide, dabbed some antibiotic ointment on it and finished my work day. The next morning it woke me up hurting and my middle finger and hand was swelled. I went to the dr and he had to open it up and clean it out more. He said I also hit a tendon which was why it hurt so bad.

I have only ridden the lower end of the BRP from Asheville, but take a little extra time and see the sights around that area. There's a LOT to see, and a LOT of good riding.

See!! That's what I get for skipping a couple of replies. That's a nice looking Ultra, and an exceptional price.

I saw that earlier on Yahoo, and it disgusts me too. I know several LEO's and I know they do not have an easy job, but in this case,,,, c'mon. It seemed like the big breakdown came when they ran the wrong registration and incomplete vin. Here is the link to the Yahoo story w/text,,, Highway Patrol Error Results In Hellish Roadside Experience For Classic Car Owner - Yahoo News

"Well today, an ad was put in the forums and I deleted it. In spite of the fact that it was a long time member who surely should have know better, I took the time to send him a message letting him know that it needed to be put in the classifieds and NOT in the form. He responded "Did you delete it" and I responded "yes". His next response was "couldn't have just moved it huh?" He couldn't have put it in the right place himself?? You are WAY more diplomatic than I, and it seems some others here. Keep on keepin' on boss!!

best mom& pop cafe/restaurant youve ever been to?
Wrench replied to jet3279's topic in Watering Hole
Wall Drive-In at the foot of the Ohio River bridge on Hwy 66 in Cannellton Indiana is a favorite stop of mine. Great burgers and ice cream, and a nice leisurely ride on to Corydon from there. You could always wait on the ice cream and stop at Culvers in Corydon for some frozen custard. For a sit-down meal then you gotta go to Moonlite BBQ in Owensboro Ky. -
That's a good lookin' ride, congrats!! I had an '03 prior to finding my '99 Venture and I absolutely loved that bike. You can have a Yamaha dealer run the vin to see if any/all recalls have been done. There was a transmission recall on some of the Roadies, but I'm not sure how far up in the years it went. Good luck!!

How did you get Hooked - Picture of your first motorcycle?
Wrench replied to VanRiver's topic in Watering Hole
My first was a 1969 Honda CL100. Man, that's been a loooong time, and many miles ago. Not an actual pic of mine, but it was that color. My dad was as much to blame as I was for getting that first bike. -
"Heck, it gave me something to do other than sitting in that recliner all day again.." Says ye of several good mid-winter rides!!

Poll time: Do you like or dislike loud pipes? COME ONE - COME ALL!!
Wrench replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Well, in all my "Venturing" over the last 8-9 years I haven't been able to make either of mine "loud" per se. I had a set of unpacked Bubs, followed by a set of hole-sawed HD Road Kings on the first one, and I've got a set of packed Roadhouse slipons with this one. Neither come any ways close to the sound of my old '03 Roadstar with Cobra's on it. My son had a 750 Shadow with Long Shots on it and I couldn't stand to ride behind him. I do long for the sound of a 750-4 with a Kerker on it!! Thanks for the poll puc. -
Thanks puc, I'll pass along the info.

quote "She is HOOKED on Menards and their "freebie" coupon stuff.." All I can say is it's a good thing the closest Menard's is in Owensboro, that place is GREAT!!

Congrats!!! We have one granddaughter, she's 11 now, and her dad remarried a year and a half ago, so now we have 2 more, 10 & 12. Love 'em all!!!(At least the 2 new ones don't require diaper changes!!)

I got burned once for a few $$'s on another forum. Since then I always get the potential buyer the shipping costs, and I always ask the potential seller to get me the shipping cost before any money changes hands. There's always that one person that screws up a good thing. I do like the idea of non-members being able to look at the classifieds, just my opinion.

Does anybody know of any old Honda boneyards? My son was gifted an '82 V45 last week and he needs a few parts. It was tagged in '13 but it's lived a pretty hard life since then. He got it to run on 2 cylinders over the weekend, so hopefully it's not a lost cause.

I was watching the 11pm news last Wed night and I heard a bike pass. There's a Grim Reaper that lives in a mobile home park next to me and it was him going home, it was probably in the hi teens at the time. He's got and old HD, looks to be a Low Rider, and he's always on it except when there's snow on the ground. I kinda believe that's all the transportation he has. I built a fire in the garage last week and replaced the freeze plugs in mine, then raised the door and let it run a little while, that's as close as it got to getting outside. We got 11" of snow yesterday, finally got the drive cleared out about an hour ago. This cold is wreaking havoc on my old bones, I'm gonna shoot every dang groundhog I see!!!

I've got two more days of p/t next week and I'll probably be done with mine,,, again. Had an episode last weekend of what the physical therapist said was scar tissue breaking up in my back,,,, IT HURT. I've got more flex/less pain now but it's still got a ways to go. I told my therapist yesterday that I thought it must be a requirement for them to spend a week with the Devil so they can get their torture training. Just remember, it'll feel better when it quits hurting!!

The robin's have returned here, that's a good sign.

We had a New River Gorge/Blue Ridge Pkwy ride planned out last year, looks like a lot of good riding there too. We changed plans last minute and did the Moonshiner 28 to Walhalla SC., then back up thru eastern TN and eastern Ky.

Dude, you must have a LOT of time on your hands! Seriously though, thanks for the tips. I've always peeled mine from the "root" end, but they are easier to peel from the other end.

Sorry, it's "great roads", my fingers didn't get the message from my brain.
-
Haven't ridden any of it yet, but the "Back of the Dragon" is on the list. I wasn't aware of the other rides, thanks for the post.

I know I'm catching the tail-end of this thread, but Rider magazine has some good rides in Fla on their website. Go to the "good roads" tab, then just drill down to Florida. Sorry for the lateness, but you could catch some of them on your way back up. Good luck and good riding!!

See!!! I knew I'd catch a fish with that bait. It's actually bologna, in a casing like sausage, packed in a vinegar pickling solution in a gallon jug. It's almost instant heartburn for me, but it's sooooo good. It also comes in hot dog sized pieces in a smaller jar. It's made by the Fischer Packing Co.

Thanks for the link Eck. That was a cool video, kinda reminds me of my younger days. My grandfather ran a little country store from the early 60's to the mid 70's and that was THE place to be. Winter always brought long nights of Rook games on Friday and Saturday nights, and Christmastime was almost a magical thing. He didn't have all them fancy vittles either, it was a bologna sandwich or "pickle dog" and crackers. Wonder how many here know what "pickle dog" is?? I had a really lively conversation one time on the Volusia Owners forum concerning "cathead biscuits", it's something you just have to have grown up around I guess. It was a time when you could still trust folks too, I don't ever remember him locking the store door. That place is definitely on the list for '15, thanks for sharing it.
