Yeah, I thought that might be you. I was sitting in my garage the other night listening to a song that Popcycle wrote. You DO know that you're immortalized in the VOL hall of fame, don't you?? Man, it seems like it's been a lifetime since my first VOL rally back in '03. I still miss my 'ol bruise sometimes, met a LOT of good folks with that bike.

I used it in a Suzuki Volusia I had, no problem. Hey 2wheelsforme, you an old leftover from the V.O.L. too???
-
It's definitely a different look for a "'wing". The guy I got my mufflers from last week has a '97 Valkyrie, and I didn't realize that it's the F6, so maybe this is gonna be the reincarnation of the Valk??

Happy Birthday Larry, wishing you many more too!!

Yeah, well, that's ONLY about 70 deg warmer that it'll be here in the morning, BRRRRRRR. Have a good trip, and be safe.

Yeah, it said it was just past Newfound Gap, on the N.C. side. Man, that's gonna suck big time. Hopefully it won't be as long as the repair on the Maryville end of the Foothills Pkwy a few years ago. That little cat-path over to Deal's Gap wasn't much, I think it was called Happy Valley Road. I still swear I heard banjos playin'!!

I've got 2 halfies, a Z1R Nomad and a new HJC Blade that I wore for the first time yesterday, also have an open-face Fulmer that has an intercom setup in it. Thanks to Playboy I'm golden with a helmetless i/c setup for my halfies too.

Yeah, my Steelers kinda sucked this year, so I'm not really behind anybody now. Never been a Ravens fan, but I would like to see Ray Lewis go out on a high note. I worked with a guy whose son, Brandon Deadrick, plays for the Pats, and I like to see a local boy do well, but I just can't root for 'em.

Today was a decent day for a change. I bought a set of used Roadhouse slip-ons yesterday, and sold and delivered the set of H/D mufflers I had bought for the "project". I got up this morning and went down to the garage and took apart and cleaned the Roadhouses and put them on. Even with all the packing still on them they sound sweet. Then I did a quick cleanup/dustoff and got out for about a 60 mile ride. Not a bad day at all for 50deg!!

Wow, that does look good. I'm going to do something with mine when it comes time for a tire change.

I was in Nashville, (actually Franklin and Goodlettsville), last Tuesday and Wednesday. There were bikes EVERYWHERE Tuesday, it was in the mid-60's, sunny and nice, it rained Wednesday morning but a few were still out by the afternoon in G'ville. You're right, part of the problem is that nobody expects bikes to be out in January, and there's a LOT of people that just flat do not pay attention now. I was amazed by the number of folks I saw texting as I was driving up/down I-65 since I was sitting up high enough to see them. I was driving a big RED 26' Penske box truck and still got cut off/pulled out in front of several times. I've made it a habit to always use the spots on the bike, and the headlights and driving lights on whatever I'm driving. I also look both ways before pulling out from a stop sign or traffic light, and don't run them yellow lights in Nashville either!!

I did'nt remember them being an S&S-built motor back then, but I can't remember what it was. My brother-in-law worked at a small dealership back then and I remember him saying that they had some oiling issues then too. I really like the looks of the "bottlecap" engine. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out, I think Polaris will leave Indian more as a nostalgia, (high $$) line too. I just can't imagine that they'll want them to be a "competitor" for their Victory business.

I was talking to my Yamaha dealer in Louisville a few weeks ago, he's a Polaris/Victory dealer too. He said that Polaris has some pretty exciting plans for Indian, but he said in his opinion it depends on what they do in the engine department. He also thinks it needs to be a departure from what they have now. I think it definitely need to be a pushrod motor, if they stick a Vic motor in it they're dead, again. A friend of mine bought a new Chief back in '04 I think, and she had some problems with the trans, and the motor was kinda noisy. Didn't they use the Power-Plus back then?

Congrats on the retirement!! It's been almost 4 years for me and I've never looked back. ENJOY IT!!!

Yeah Randy, that's what I'm thinking. The PO said he had all the hoses checked/replaced as well as all the o-rings when he had it gone thru. I hate cold weather!!!

Wow, there must be something contagious here. I went to the garage last night and had about 3 or 4 drips worth under mine too. They were under the left rear cylinder, in line with the kickstand, and dripped down behind the exhaust. Started it and let it warm up, no leak this afternoon, it was about 35deg in the garage at the time. The PO had the system flushed about 2 years ago, and I remember him saying that it would drip a drop once in a while, especially when it was cold. My '04 dripped one time during a really cold spell when I had it sitting out under the carport, I never did find it. Guess it's time for the 'ol jack and go exploring. My son's 750 Shadow developed a leak between the heads in the crossover tube last year. It was a BEAR to get the o-rings on the tube without pulling a cylinder. We also tried "other" o-rings, but finally had to go to the dealer to get the right ones.

Wow Barry, it just registered with me, you're only about an hour from my son in Clermont. The wife and I are planning on coming down there in late February, maybe a meet up?? I can see where you'd have a hard time leaving the mountains, but you've got all those nice, STRAIGHT roads down there.(and warm weather)

Sounds good, just let me know a couple days ahead. Exit 94 is the nice side of town, the south side near the W.K. Pkwy is pretty "ratty", not much on that side either. Looking forward to finally meeting another one of my idols. You and Popcycle are two of the best!!
-
Wow, you couldn't get much farther away than that for me, probably close to 3 hrs west of me. But,,, which way are you coming down? I'm REALLY close to I-65 and the Western Ky. Pkwy. We'll work something out, just let me know the dates. I-65 exit 94 in Elizabethtown has several nice restaurants and hotels if you're coming this way.

May tomorrow find everyone happy, healthy, and with lots of chrome to install!! Hey Larry, we've gotta meet up somewhere this coming year, we've talked about it for a long time now.
-
Congrats Karl!! Nothing like that first one to make ya feel old! Our first and only is 9 now, and she says she wants to ride with me this summer, I can't wait.

Here's a link you might try, www.gunclips.net. I did a quick search for Springfield and Glock, and they show they have hi-cap mags in stock. I'm going to try to order a couple of mags from them for my .22 Hi-Standard Dura-Matic. I bought 2 for my XD .40 at kygunco last week, and their wall was bare of ANYTHING over 10 rds. I tend to lean towards Playboy's thinking too, the XD .40 is the first "big" semi-auto I've owned and I love it. I've always been a revolver kind of guy, but the Colt .357 I've got sure does have a lot of recoil. I've also got a CVA .44 Navy Colt cap-n-ball that is an absolute blast to shoot, lots of smoke and noise. -
Wow, that IS a low mileage ride, it's not even near broken in. From talking to the PO of mine it's really hard on them to sit for an extended period, even if it's planned for. He said this one had sat in a garage for 3+ yrs, but it was unintentional due to an illness by the then-owner.

On the subject of extra mags, has anyone checked with their local gun store lately? I stopped by where I bought my Springfield just to look around Friday afternoon. My XD holds 12, which makes it a hi-cap. I got 2 mags with it, but had been thinking about getting a couple more. When I got back to where they are on the wall there was a SEA of people buying them like CRAZY, so I picked up the last 2 he had for mine. He said he'd sold all the SKS, AK, and Glock mags he had in stock and that they would'nt be getting any more hi-caps in for a long time. He also said that the big ammo players, Rem., Win., Federal were calling back their inventories and buying up warehoused ammo to reclaim to produce .223 ammo. They also were told that all brass ammo will be in extremely short supply, but most of the popular stuff will be available in aluminum cases. I picked up a couple boxes of .40 brass Blazers and a box of .38's in aluminum since that was all he had. I overheard him telling a guy that the aluminum doesn't work real well in semi-autos, especially the "lower-ends". Guess I'll have to do a better job of policing my brass and start having them re-loaded.
