Continued good luck with the mending Carlos. I know how hard that recovery thing can be, but it's all good when you're healed up.
-
Yes, thanks for the call and info, I'll get back with you.
-
This is some VERY good advice, especially since it appears you will be around your Uncle a lot more now. There's nothing harder to endure than hurt feelings with a family member.

Well, I've been thinking about this since I saw Larry's earlier today. I know it stands out and looks good on the Midnite heads, so I'm thinking about maybe painting the fins before I have mine done. What kind of prep would I need to do so the paint would stay? I know it'd have to be a hi-heat paint.
-
Yeah, yeah, yeah I know,,,, thought about that AFTER they left. Hey ragtop, Larry gave me your message too, THANKS!! I told him that I'm gonna try to head up there maybe sometime this summer and meet some of you "Yankees"!!
-
Yeah, but not everybody is as quick to catch on as we are!!
-
I finally got to see the diamond cut up close a few minutes ago on Carbon One's bike. Looks very nice, you do a good job with that.

Just got back from meeting and having lunch with Larry and Joyce. They are now headed towards Murray Ky., about a 3 hour drive. It was really great to finally get to meet after talking with him on 2 different forums over the last 10 years or so. He's got a whole new look going with the bike too,,,,, I'd never seen a "bobber" Venture til today. It gives it a completely different look without a front fender or saddlebags.

Just got my March Cycle World out of the mailbox, and guess what?? The poor 'ol "outdated" Venture made the Best Used Bikes column. Here's the short version,,, Why it's desirable. With very few exceptions, the Venture hasn't changed since intro'd in '99, so if you can find an early model in good condition, you can basically buy the same bike for about 1/4th the price of a new one. These are comfortable, capable, entertaining motorcycles for long-distance travel, EVEN IF THEY DON'T BOAST THE LATEST IN TWO-WHEEL TECH. The ride is pleasant, the erg's are accomodating, and the V-4 provides smooth, steady power and one of the more soulful exhaust notes in ALL of motorcycling, (WELL, DUH!!) Here's the best part,,, Useful Resources. An excellent variety of info can be found at "that other site":). Aside from the usual forum chatter, the site contains volumes of tech and maint info. Likewise with VENTURERIDERS, a forum that deals with all Venture models as well as other Royal Stars. Finally, a little love for the Venture, AND a shout-out for the site. Thanks Don, for puttin' this thing together and lettin' us all ride along with you. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!

OOOH, a highboy, the only thing left is to paint it yellow. My two all-time favorite cars were in American Graffitti, the yellow highboy and the white '58 Impala. I saw an episode of Gearz where they cut the fenders down to make them narrower, a very cool look too. I'm looking around for an early/mid 60's Chevy truck as a project, I got a hint of where to find a '66 Fleetside that my Dad owned a century ago, found a '58 Apache "project", but the dude's a little high on it, '58 is a "special" year for me. Keep feedin' us pics!!

Wide-open Roadhouse mufflers, and soon-to-be-tested air cleaner mod. No jetting!!
-
Yep, what they said,,,,, welcome to the "sunny side"!!
-
That's what I was kinda figuring/hoping. Thanks!! Gonna add that to the list of to-do's. BTW, I did get my air cleaner project finished, but the weathers been too crappy to get it out. Maybe Sunday, sposed to be around 45 or so. I can tell that the throttle response is quicker now.

It blew over a semi on I-65 north of Bowling Green, and there were a couple of low-end tornadoes confirmed not too far from here. About the only thing it did around our house was blow the doors open for this stinkin', rotten, bone-chillin' cold to come in,,,,BRRRRRRR!

I did a temp fix on one on the left rear jug the other night. Don, how many of these plugs are there around the motor? I know I could look it up, but it's been a loooong day and I'm too tired.

This is a current weather alert that we are under, you don't have to read it all, just go to the last paragraph. I got a good laugh out of it, so I thought I'd share. Hmm, interesting swap. I put a set of stock R/K's on my other Venture and really did'nt notice much difference in the sound. I hole-sawed them and that really opened them up, and I guess that caused them start breaking down the packing, because they got progressively louder as time went on. Keep us posted on how this swap goes, it's piqued my interest.

The '02 Suzuki Volusia was the "Bruise", (black & blue). The '04 Midnite Venture was "Blackie". The '03 RoadStar was the "Old Goat", (it was contrary at times). "Atlas" kinda seems to be this one's name, you know, "at las, my love has come along". Pretty corny, huh??!!

I drove past a house on my way home one afternoon last week and there were about a 1/2 dozen Easter flowers blooming along side the driveway. I asked my boss about them and he said they bloom according to the temp of the ground, so I guess it's been a pretty mild winter here, we've only had a few days of frozen ground so far. Hopefully we won't get blown away tonite, we've just been issued a tornado watch, crazy weather, almost 70 here today. I heard some geese headed north a few days ago too. My Dad used to say that every day we made it in January put us one day closer to Spring.

I saw 5 or 6 a couple weeks ago in Nashville running I-65 on the south side of town. I asked one of the guys I was working with about them and he said they ride every day that there's no ice or snow. BBBRRRRRRRR!!

I had a '96 Blazer, which is the same setup. The transfer case on those has an internal chain, similar to a timing chain, that drives the front shaft. The selector switch on the dash could be bad, but I'd start with the servo motor on the side of the transfer case and make sure it's working. It's pretty easy to get to once you get the skid plate off. The servo motor just bolts to the side of the case, so you can drop it off and check to be sure it's working, but everything under there is a tight fit. While you've got it off you can use a wrench on the shaft of the transfer case to manually shift it to make sure everything is good in the case. Mine went out during a big snow in '05, so I just left it in 4-hi til I got the part. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I had that same experience about a year ago, but I just couldn't give in to it at the time either. It is a sweet ride,,,,,, maybe in a couple years,,,,,,.

Man, those 2-strokers were the deal back in the day, but just imagine how the tree-huggers would howl about them now! A friend had an H2 750 when we were in high school and we rode that thing into the ground. It did'nt matter if we smelled like Klotz 2-stroke oil, we were COOL!!! That was also WELL before 2 guys on a bike WASN'T politically correct.

The first MRI I had when my back started going south had me with both my arms over my head in a machine that was about 2 sizes too small for me. When they finally pried me out they had actually to help me raise my arms back up and bring them back to my sides. My back surgery didn't hurt as bad as that test did! I have a LOT of spurs in my neck too, and that's what's giving me my "tingling" during the night now. I'll tell you what my surgeon told me,,,,, "it just flat sucks gettin' old, don't it!!", and I told him it's not the age, but the miles and lack of maintenance. Good luck bro!!
