  1. Oh, Annie and Al, we are so sorry to hear about Annie's leg and her being back in the hospital. Prayers are being raised up for both of you. An address to send get well cards would be wonderful.
  2. Your post brings a smile to my face. We've been there for our daughters when they've needed a helping hand too. I am so glad that things worked out for you and your daughter and that she is doing well in her job. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
  3. We started out rarely locking our helmets, then my husband laughed at me one day about locking up the $39 Sirus radio but not locking up over $700 worth of helmets and headsets. After that I always lock the helmets. I never thought about the investment we have in them.
  4. Gary, Thank you so much for helping me locate this magazine. We found out about 8 years ago that the marine records did not match what we were told and have been working to find out the actual facts around my brother's death and to get the record corrected. This is the first time in print that is was acknowledged that one of the crew of the Huey was found alive, and that's a huge thing for my family. Diane
  5. I need help in getting a copy or two of the November 2009 Marine Leatherneck magazine. It's not something that I can just walk into the local Barnes & Noble and purchase. There is an article in the magazine called Vietnam: Last Full Measure of Devotion by Dick Camp. This is important to me since this is the first published account and public statment that my brother survived the initial crash and was not KIA as all the officical military records show - other than his medical records. If you read the article my brother was the one found alive in the Huey, although he did die later waiting for medical treatment. Any suggestions and help in getting a copy of the magazine would be wonderful. This is the link to the article if anyone would like to read it. http://www.mca-marines.org/leatherneck/nov09-last_full_measure_of_devotion.asp

    Ft. Hood

My heart and my prayers go out to the military men and women and their families that were touched by the shooting in Fort Hood yesterday. May justice be served and may the healing begin.
  7. Beautiful paint job and a wonderful memorial to our military. I wish to give thanks to all who served in Viet Nam and are still here with us today. And to offer prayers to those who served in Viet Nam and are watching over us from above. Thanks for sharing those pictures.
  8. Ditto -
  9. Phil's in Tucson tonight. He's seen a lot of cactus and saw a military plane graveyard.
  10. Beautiful pictures and a great looking couple. Many wishes of happiness to the two of them. Congratulations on your new son(in-law). Our oldest daughter is getting married in November. We are looking forward to that wedding as Eric and Jenny are not perfect, they are however perfect for each other and that's all that matters in the end.
  11. Well Phil's on schedule. His plan was to end up in Roswell NM tonight and that's where he's at. It sounds like he had strong head winds most of the day and his gas milage was around 30 miles a gallon due to them. Temps this afternoon across west Texas into NM was 98 degrees. Tomorrow he's headed to Tucson.
  12. I think you're in trouble next time I see you... Phil is MUCH older than I am!
  13. And our "practice for retirement" run just started. Phil just pulled out of the driveway, while I waved good bye and headed back to my computer to work today. He is planning to be in Amarillo for lunch and in Roswell tonight. We know what you mean about children spread out - we only have 2 but one is in Chicago and the other is in Lakeland, FL, and we're in Tulsa.
  14. I was wondering if you get flu shots - are you required for your job to get them, like many health care workers are? This year all the media hype has everyone at work on pins and needles over getting sick. The minute you hear somone sneeze or cough at work you begin to ask them if they feel okay and you wonder if the N1H1 has made it's way into the cube farm. I now keep hand sanitizer on my desk and a container of clorex wipes in my drawer.
  15. Such a sad loss of lives. prayers are being said for their families.
  16. NEWTRK06 and I get a little closer every day to retirement. We've discussed many times what we want to do when that happens. NEWTRK06 is a few years older than I am so he will retire before I even start thinking about it. He's always thought that he would play Wild Hair II and ride where the wind takes him while I continue to work to fund his travels, but we came up with a new plan that we are going to try out for the next couple of weeks. NEWTRK06 is going to ride to the place we have decided to vacation at and in order to maximize my vacation time I will fly in join him for a week or two and then I will fly back home leaving him to make him own way home sometime. So on Wednesday we are going to practice for retirement. NEWTRK06 has a 2 week vacation and is going to the San Diego area. Just himself and his bike. He's going to visit family he has not seen in years over the weekend, and then next Monday he and his nephew are going to take off on their bikes and ride through the mountains in Southern California with plans to end up at the Pacific eating fresh seafood. Just the two of them enjoying life on the road together. The following Wednesday is when my part of Phil's retirement plan kicks in. I am flying into Phoenix with my helmet as my carry on luggage and we are going to spend the next 6 days riding through Arizona and New Mexico as we make our way back to home. If this works who knows where we'll turn up next. I want to see New England in the fall, ride through West Viriginia, see Mt Rushmore, just imagine the sky's the limit. So now that I've shared our retirement plans - what do you plan to do to enjoy your retirement?
  17. We are so happy to hear to good news. Thanks for sharing with the 'family'!
  18. I went to the Potato Creek State Park site and this is their information on when you can start to reserve shelters and cabins: RESERVATIONS FOR CAMPING (AND RENT-A-CAMP CABINS) CAN BE MADE SIX MONTHS IN ADVANCE. RESERVATIONS FOR GROUP CAMPS, CABINS, SHELTERS, AND RECREATION BUILDINGS CAN BE MADE ONE YEAR IN ADVANCE. Also here is the website:http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/2972.htm
  19. We call the venture the New Truck. When Phil bought it he told the guys he worked with that I told him he should buy a new truck and the VR is what he came home with. The name has stuck.
  20. Ella is a doll. Would you be open donations of other cheerleading outfits, then she could cheer for everyone.
  21. Gary, Prayers are coming your way. We are glad that you are getting better every day.
  22. Cliff House is good food with a fantastic view. Well worth the stop, you won't regret it. Most of the riding in the area is good. You will have a great ride through there. We ride in that area a couple of times a year - it's a weekend trip from where we live. I cannot remember the roads you mentioned but I'm usually taking the pictures.
  23. Would you like to be Rosebud? I would give it up for you! Of course then you have to take on NEWTrk06 too, since we come together as a pair (pair of what I am not sure of )
  24. God, Please be with Big Tom and Tatters as they go to James' wake tonight. Allow them to find the words to comfort Alice as she struggles with her loss. Also God be with Alice so she finds the strength to go on each day without James and wrap her in your loving arms. Amen.
  25. Nice pictures. Glad that you and Ron had a great trip and made it home safe and sound.
