  1. Glad to hear that you survived!
  2. I hope that you live where it's high and dry and not flodded from Issac.
  3. I like mine. I usually swap between the stock seat and the airhawk at gas stops. I have mine inflated to a little underhalf. Made a huge difference on long rides for me.
  4. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
  5. Ditto what Buddy said - Head Country. It is one of the best we've ever had. Best place to eat BBQ Oklahoma Joe's
  6. I am so happy you get to take a road trip to KC to see your dayghter and granddaughter. If we were not leaving for Death Valley on Wednesday, I'd invite you to take a detour and head to Tulsa. We're about 4 hours south of KC. Travel safe and have a great time in KC.
  7. I am so glad to hear that surgery went well and she will recover with PT and no lasting damage. Being a senior is a big time in her life as well as yours. It's great to hear about parents that have children to be proud of these days. What are her plans for the future - where is she looking to go to college? I'll keep her in my prayers.
  8. Congratulations on your brand new GrandMuffin.
  9. We have no grandchildren so I can't say I know what that feels like being in their lives. But I can tell you what it's like not being near your daughter - within a 3 month time period in 2004 - we moved to Oklahoma, our oldest daughter moved to Chicago (she had taken a job to be closer to us - that didn't work out), and our youngest daughter moved to Florida. It's not easy - but it does make it so much more special when you do get to see them. We talk several times a week, phone and skype, facebook, and email. It's 1500+ miles to see the one in Florida, it's 704 miles to see the one in Chicago, it's 796 miles to my parents front door in Wisconsin. However KC is only 4 hours from Tulsa and we have an extra bed if you want to take a route 66 detour when you visit your daughter.
  10. What an excellent way to celebrate New Year's Day! Bet they had a blast.
  11. We are sorry to hear about your Grandfather's passing. He is at peace and with your Grandmother now. This will allow you to reflect on the impact your grandparents had on your life and choose how you impact your grandchild that will be born shortly. Prayers are being said for your family during this time of loss and the expectant blessing.
  12. Here are the first pictures of the new trike - can you see his smile from ear to ear as he was taking his first ride this morning? Pic 1 - first ride on Thanksgiving Day 2011 Pic 2 - load the bike on the trailer to be triked 10/28/2011 Pic 3 - view of new trike Pic 4 - another view of new trike Pic 5 - Phil grinning from ear to ear as he takes his first ride Pic 5 - Michigan company that did the trike conversion - good people to work with
  13. Phil's trike is being delivered tonight. In fact it's in town already, just waiting for him to get off work and pick it up. It's been a long time coming to get to tonight - he started this process back in August. I bet he'll be out learning how to drive his trike tomorrow instead of watching parades and football.
  14. I'm going to learn how to drive it. So Phil better watch out!
  15. I use to had the phone to our oldest daughter (she's a lawyer now) when she was a teenager and by the time she finished asking them questions about each question they tried to ask - they usually hung up on her. It was always fun!
  16. We are still praying for Ponch's recovery. Does anyone have their home address that they could PM to me. I would like to send a note of support to his family. Thanks.
  17. We had a potential costly situation with a trike dealer turn into a positive experience for us. For a couple of years Phil has been dreaming and planning to trike out his bike before he retires. The back in the beginning of August he pulled the trigger and put down a 50% deposit with the Oklahoma Hannigan Trike Dealer. He's been smiling non stop for the last 3 weeks. Earlier this week I was online paying some bills and noticed that the dealer had not cashed our check yet and that bothered me. The day next we got a letter in the mail with two sentences on it. "I cannot do your trike conversion." "I am returning your check." At least the dealer returned our check, but we still don't know what happened, we can only speculate. We are very lucky that our check was returned and that he had not deposited it and then told us try to get it back. We could have lost that money. (Of course I would have made his life uncomfortable if he had. I would have turned our daughter the lawyer loose on him.) Here's where the story turns positive. Phil called Hanningan Factory the next day. He made up his mind that he was going to trailer his bike to Kentucky and get the factory to install the trike kit. Phil talked with John from Hannigan, and John was fantastic. He was upset about the OKC situation and uphappy because the dealer has not talked with them. But he also told Phil that he was going to put us in touch with another dealer who would treat us right. He even made the phone call to the new dealer to contact us. In an hour we had a call from Gary with Lone Star Trikes and he and Phil were busy working out a work order for the trike. By the middle of the afternoon we had an invoice emailed to us and confirmation that the trike kit had been ordered at Hannigan with a mid October delivery date for the kit. Lone Star Trikes is even going to stop by the house and pick up the bike. I cannot say enough good things about Hannigan and Lone Star Trikes they worked with us to make Phil's dream of a trike turn the positive experience we wanted it to be. (Plus they saved me money I did not have to buy the trailer to take the bike to KY and that always makes me happy) My hats off to Hannigan and Lone Star Trikes they ROCK!:thumbsup2:
  18. I have short hair 'cause I hate taking any time with me, but I just want you to know that I deal with helmet hair all the time too, I just don't have the tangle issues. I tend to take off my helmet and put on my baseball cap. Good luck with your helmet hair.
  19. I wear a Joe Rocket textile jacket for spring and fall in Oklahoma, but during the summer Phil and I both switch over to our OSI jackets - great mesh - much better air flow than others we looked at. It's good until around 94 degrees and after that around here you'd want a cooling vest.
  20. Thanks Brad for keeping us posted. Our thoughts and prayers are going out to Dave and Kathy.
  21. NEWTrk (Phil) my husband has been talking for a couple of years about triking out his venture and yesterday he did it. He really did it. He put down his deposit for the Hannigan trike kit and in a couple of months it will all be over with and he'll be grinning from ear to ear. Look out here he comes - next will be retirement and then 48 states in 60 days...
  22. You could'a cooked today in Oklahoma if you out riding. My temperature gage in my nice air conditioned vehicle registered 107 this afternoon. So I think you would be cooking roasted turkey if you were out this afternoon riding.
  23. Wishing your daughter and new son-in-law happiness always.
  24. Phil and I got home from Eureka Springs this morning before the temps really heated up. It was wonderful to see old friends and to make new friends. We did have a power issue the last 30 miles. But this is the last ride until fall - we hate riding in the high 90 and 100 degree temps, and the bike is going up on the lift for it's summer maintenance.
  25. Started spring training yesterday - 440 mile ride yesterday. Working up to 500+ miles a day for next month's trip to Key West. First long ride in over a year since last summer we were both laid up after a white water rafting accident. Next weekend we'll be back at training. But boy did my legs ache today after the long ride.
