  1. I used these kits. Buying individual parts from Yamaha gets pretty expensive. http://www.ebay.com/itm/4x-86-07-VMAX-CARB-KITS-VMX1200-V-MAX-83-93-XVZ13-VENTURE-VENTURE-ROYALE-/201340482970?hash=item2ee0d3f59a&vxp=mtr
  2. I tried this and still can't post to the classified.
  3. I finally got it running. My problem was 2 things first were 3 yes 3 bad or intermittent fuel pumps and carb sync that was way off. One fuel pump would run but would not move any gas. The other 2 would click when I turned on the key but would quit after start. I connected these 2 directly to 12 volts and they would run then quit. I finally got one to run with a whack from a wrench, I was then able to get a reasonable sync. The sync was so far off that I had to start at 3000 rpm (wouldn't idle any lower) and work down from there.
  4. I have done all of the above. The bike did finally start idle ran up to3000 rpm. I ran the idle screw down and the bile stalled at about 1500 rpm. I started it again and let it run at 1500 and found the front 2 cylinders never heated up. I will get some plugs today. The ones in there are about 6 months old and were fine before the work.
  5. Fuel flows freely all the way to the carbs, petcock is open, the pump clicks and after it stall I opened the bowl drains and fuel is in the carbs.
  6. I suppose it's possible. I took the hose off the vent and there is a brace plug with a tiny hole in the middle. Couldn't get anything in it.
  7. Yes I did I also cleaned and sealed the tank with red kote.
  8. After rebuilding the carb and some other things I can't get the bike to run. It started once and then needed starting fluid. It will run 30-45 seconds and the sputter out. I tried 2 other fuel pumps with the same results. Have I missed something in my reassembly?
  9. Starter solenoid is mounted to the left side of the battery tray.
  10. The engine oil is used by the clutch, so new oil may help free up the clutch.
  11. I didn't see if you changed the oil. I would do that first.
  12. I contacted Clearview a while back and the said they would sell just the vent, but didn't recommend trying to install yourself.

  14. I was an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force force for 20 years. Aircraft brakes are set up in the same way as this clutch with alternating rotors and stators with a pressure plate. On most planes this is a single assembly. On the F-4 the rotors and stators need to be removed to change the tire. The plates had to be reinstalled in the same order and position oriented the same to each other. This was done because if they had warped they stayed in the same relationship to each other to prevent dragging, overheating, locking up or poor braking force. I thinking this is part of the reason for the clutch alignment dots.
  15. I just checked I have the line from the compressor, but I am still using the piece connected to the strut for a manual valve.
  16. I Just eliminated my CLASS and I don't think I threw out the lines. If I still have it it's yours just pay shipping. I'll go th4rough and look tomorrow.
  17. My water pump is leaking from the weep hole on the bottom. What do I need to repair this?
  18. Thanks I just got a set from ebay.
  19. I'm in nee of a carb http://www.venturerider.org/forum/first-generation-venture-tech-talk/99167-carb.html I have a set on an 86 parts bike. The bike is a California emissions. The number 1 has an extra port that appears to be where the bowls are routed. The other 3 appear externally the same as non California carbs. Does anyone know if there are any internal differences, or should I be able to use the right bank? Thanks
  20. That would be great, thanks
  21. Yes, I only need the the carb body. I can install everything else from the old one.
  22. Let's just say things have not gone well during repairs and leave it at that. BTW I will take a whole set, just so I can get the one I need.
  23. Need carbs for an 86 VR in usable condition. I only need the right front one or the right bank. Thanks
  24. I think there is a plug behind that cover and may be where the leak is coming from. I think those covers are only cosmetic.
  25. Today I saw a guy texting while he was riding, I couldn't believe it.
