  1. Art, Sorry to hear the bad news. I just had arthoscopic surgery on my right knee a week ago. I'm very lucky that a torn minicus was my only problem and other than that, the knee looks great. (From the inside:)) But I know what you mean. I was injured at work when some steel fell out from under me and injured my knee. After I got over the shock of the impact that the injury would have on my ability to do my job, my next thought was, "Oh hell! I can't ride!" Thankfully, I now know that I will soon be back in the saddle. I don't know the extent of your injury(s), but it's amazing what they can do now days. You may be back on the horse in no time, and if not... then there's always the trike option. Either way, I feel your pain. Good Luck and Keep The Faith!
  2. Dang! I finally figured out how to resize and post some pics. Thanks for all the replies guys. I don't presently have any close-ups of the pipes, but you can get a pretty good look at them on my bike in the pic gallery. I have a line on some stock pipes that sound like they're in pretty good shape, so hopefully I can make a change soon. I'm not really sure that I want to go back to stock, but my ears can't take the volume at my young age of almost 57. I had the clutch basket changed out a couple of years ago and so far it's doing pretty good, so hopefully that won't be a factor as far as noise. If anyone has any pipes that aren't really too loud and thinking of a trade for louder, let me know. Thanks, Steve
  3. Or hose B?
  4. I have aftermarket pipes on my Venture that are way too loud. Don't ask me who made them. Came on the bike and have no markings. Look like bag slash pipes. Love the looks and the tone, just wish they were a little quieter. If anyone still has their oem's or are just wanting LOUD pipes, pipe up! (couldn't resist that) I'd love to get these off my ride.
  5. Thanks Tim, Have to give that scrubbing bubbles a try. 2nd gen ventures got LOTS of nooks and cranny's.
  6. Been using Pledge for about 8 or 9 years. No problems. Love the stuff.
  7. Didn't see him on a Venture, but I did see him in a Waffle House down in Georgia!
  8. Thank God the beer was still cold! Glad you and the bike are ok too.

    Be A Star?

    Great video! Thanks for sharing.
  10. Hi guys, Larry will probably read this post and let you know how to contact him, or you can send him a pm. I just got one of his stands, with the legs, last week, and I don't know how much $$$ this thing is going to save me in shop cost. Great stand and definately worth the investment.
  11. DANG DRAY! I don't want to scratch the paint on my scoot! How about a cement block thru the window? I seen that done at a bank in SC one time. Course it was at night and the bank was closed, but it sure got a lot of attention from the local's anyway! Not a bad idea though. Not bad.
  12. I'd like to know what Yamaha has to say. I'm having the same thing happen on my '03. Cruise will even cut off at times. Usually after coasting down hill, then reengaging to go up hill. But the speed drop and delay really make it just about not worth using in hilly terrain.
  13. Ditto on the Venture being a good deal and I also love to steal all the looks from folks in a crowd of Harley's. But wait... What's that noise Rich? Could it be a Venture V4 with aftermarket Harley RoadKing pipes? Whaat? I couldn't hear ya! Believe me. All my neighbors know when I fire up the Venture!
  14. Don, You have been a lot of help to me over the years from way back in the Venturenet days when I was having problems with my webtv, and your still helping folks with this incredible website. THANK YOU many times over and I'm proud to be a member of this group. BTW, Yamaha should hire you to do that ride your talking about, since you've already inadvertantly, done so much to promote one of their products. I can say for sure that purchasing my third Venture had a LOT to do with the exsistance of your VentureRider. Looking forward to being a part of this group for a long time. Thanks Don, Steve
  15. I'll never forget the day I saw (and bought) my first Venture. It was the silver /gray 1999, first year of the 2nd gen. At the time I was the proud owner of a 1998 Harley 1200 dual plug Sportster. Fastest production Harley on the market. Just wasn't good for two up riding. Anyway, I stoppped by the rice market (Yamaha shop) looking for a ramp. I went for the front door (where my new bike was sitting), and just as I was about to grab the handle, I did a double take at that bike by the door. Spun around on my heals and said to the salesman standing there, "What's That?" It was love at first sight. The most beautiful bike I'd ever seen. After practically drooling all over it, I took it out for a ride and that was it. By by Harley. Hello Yamaha! Traded that Harley in that very day and never looked back. Unfortunately, the Venture was a better motorcycle than I was a rider. After only two short years of that love afair, I went too hot into a curve. The Venture was too badly damaged and was totaled out. I was in pretty bad shape myself, with a blown up left wrist and my lower lip hanging down over my chin. I recovered (with a fused left wrist to remind me) and began riding again after a while. I still had my Kawasaki ZL1000, but I knew I didn't need that, so I sold it. Then bought a 1983 RSV Royale. Still have it but not rideable at this time. Put quite a few miles on it though, and really enjoyed it. Darn good handling bike. Then came the afternoon that I cruised by "Craigslist" and the posting for a 2003 Raspberry/Tan Venture. "My God", I says. "That's even more beautiful than the old silver!" The trip to go and see the bike was short. Only about 20 miles! In short order, I was again a 2nd gen Venture owner, and although it took a little time for us to get used to each other (I still loved the old gray mare), she eventually won me over, I not being able to resist her beauty and elegance. Not to mention that she's a damn fine ride! What I like best about my bike, is the fact that I can still get on her. I installed a set of 1 1/2" risers on the bars and now when I mount her and settle down in the saddle, it's like "this is where I belong." With the risers, I can now rest full back into the Utopia backrest, and still have a comfortable reach on the bars. It's almost like riding a recliner that goes where you point it. Oh yeah. And I love it when the Harley guys can't keep their eye's off her.
  16. I might be interested in those stock pipes if you go for something else.
  17. Man! That's a GREAT video. Thanks for sharing.
  18. I have one on my bike. Was on it when I bought it. Looks good. Paint doesn't exactly match, but close enough. I like having the extra lighting. Only problem is what do you do when those leds start burning out? As far as I can tell, there's no way to replace the bulbs.
  19. Good job on the rails Boomer. Very nice pics. You shore got those lines lookin' good!
