  1. well still dont know what was causing it but the gremlin seems to have gotten bored over night and left . i'll post a built tread later for anyone else who is thinking about getting some more sound
  2. my fans eaten a spark plug wire and made a bit of noise doing it, just look around for anything that may have come loose and gotten near the blades
  3. it rises with the rpm stopping at its peak of 14 and then slowly upping to 14.3 if the rpm is held steady for a while
  4. naw direct hook up to the battery and i can grab the harnes and yamk it around without issue its only while the bike is running, And the rectifier wires are souldered not on a plug
  5. so i just did a huge audio upgrade on the bike 5 1/4" speakers, amp, whole nine yards, now the problem that's been perplexing me is that the amp keeps kicking out, i can rev it to any RPM and it will stay on but if i crack the throttle it shuts off. i took a multi meter to my battery to look for anything weird and found 1000 RPM 13 - 13.5 V 3000 Rpm and up 14 - 14.3 reved the bag off of it and then let the throttle snap shut 14.5 V or so wasn't seeing any real spikes or anything out of the ordinary any ideas?
  6. well i went down to the dealer and they told me the tire was over 5 years old, and that the shipper who sent it to them must have had it laying around a long time, they warrantied it on the spot and i had a new tire on 2 hours later, no fuss. thats one of those things that makes me go back to them for all my parts. awesome customer service in a dealer is hard to find these days.
  7. skid my tire? HA my brakes couldn't lock up my tires if i were on ice XD, i always loved the spitfires on my smaller bikes but i was under the impression they didn't have a weight rating for the first gens. and after how quickly this tire failed im a bit concerned about the spitfires following suit. and the elite III's just are far too spry on the treads, the metzlers have an even worse track record. any one know of more comparable tires to the elite II's, besides the 404's since they are virtually the same tire
  8. i had the same thing on mine took a pressure washer with high heat and blasted the coating off the bare plastic under neath was like new
  9. so 2 months ago i bought a new set of elite II's and within the last week i fond the ride getting rougher well today i looked at the rear tire and found a foot long section that goes half way up the side wall and half way under the tire where its all ballooned out and pulled off the core as well as some deep cracks in the treads
  10. well you can see right at the start of the vid the white bike went in front of the suv probably to slow it down or stop it till the pack could pass at which point he runs it over and causes the pack to stop the first time, then he barrels trough the causing the chase. the suv should have moved to the far right lane before the pack was even on him, he left himself get caught up in it the middle of it. after he hit the first bike and stopped i would have been the first one to step in and try to resolve it calm cause both parties screwed up but after he plowed through the pack i would have been out for blood with the rest of them, you use a car in a malicious intent say goodbye to any leniency
  11. was the move to the vmax caliper required or something you just opted for? like did the venture calipers not fit in the rim?
  12. what years of rim will fit my 86 vr, and what car tire size fits on it and doesn't rub the swing arm?
  13. i drop to 10-40 during the winter and i hit riding temps of -40C up here at times still starts
  14. so im planning on delinking and upgrading the the R1 calipers, but im not sure what year of r1 caliper bolts up
  15. ya ive had it fly off a few times, never got away. always caused by the screw backing out
  16. wasnt the largest of road trips but it was the largest this bikes done in many years, it handeled itself and the trailer pretty good. had to stop after the first 1000 km for a overheating and seized caliper but was the only inhibiting issue. the bike was however and still is temperamental on the tuning. it usually took about 100 km for it to fully wake up a get full power and it would occasionally get a rattling noise while under power and for a few hundred kms at all times under any load, which i have found to most likely be excess fuel cause small rapid backfires and which sound like rattling by quickly hitting the collector. its gotten pretty bad at one point the exhaust sounding like it was going to explode. now its gone and the bike sounds pretty healthy mines some popping on cyl 2 still persisting. when im driving around its sometimes smooth as silk and others its a bit shaky, has nothing to do with temperature or range at this point any ideas?
  17. yup two o rings behind the ad unit seal it, quick fix but you'll want to put a clean pan underneath cause it will drain the forks
  18. its starting to seem like the idle circuit in that carb is plugged up ive cleaned the carbs but wil probably have them ultrasonically cleaned next week when i get back from Ontario, maybe it will clear up with the miles
  19. yup ran one last night and got 92 one both left cylinders and 90 on both right cylinders
  20. so far ive changed the plugs and played with a few different gaps, new plug boots and wire, changed the airbox and carb boots, new airfilter, cleaned the carbs, synced numerous times, set valve shims, changed the ignition coils, upgraded tci to ignitech tci. im stumped, whats next an exorcism? any one else ever have just one cylinder that would not cooperate?
  21. ya the carbs were rebuilt before a bought them everything in them is new
  22. im not seeing any marks on the sides of the carbs
  23. most likely you didnt get all the fluid out when first draining the forks or the is still some air hiding somewhere. but if its even and stays even its good to go
