1. also a fan of the strip soulder and heat shrink method, bought a pair of snap on strippers and they are the best thing ive ever had for doing my wiring
2. so ive been checking out some new tech lately and have stumbled onto these helmets with built in HUD, its very neat and a way to have a sat nav on the bike. its just entering into beta testing now though a few of you tech savy guys might also be interested in trying to get into the beta pot http://www.skullyhelmets.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7AYfq9uIY8&noredirect=1
3. oh man that would be amazing on my venture, too bad i could probably buy 3 more for the cost of painting this one
4. Wish him good luck for me, im half way through my bmq myself and its gonna be quite the challange for him
5. Im also in for one or two
6. nice find, love the nighthawks
7. damn i though these were solely for my old lucas systems
8. wow i instantly bought it and watched it. makes me want to get home to my old gal that much more
9. Dunno I think it just has to do with the hight I ride it at. Progressives in the front plus a 1 inch spacer with the rear suspension at high pressure. There was just twice I put the kickstand out and leaned sideways and woop im laying on the ground now
10. long time no see guys, been pretty busy with winter and BMQ but im hoping to go home to get my bike in a few weeks and i need a new kick stand as i wonderfully snapped two last season. any one got a spare stand or two their willing to sell?
11. if it is just steam and the plugs are looking good i wouldn't worry about it. when my bike is cold and the temps outside aren't so warm ive got a huge cloud of steam behind my bike till it warms up and has done that since i got it ride it around a little while and let it heat up and see if the steam persists even after the bike is warmed up good
12. ive done both and found it easier on the bike myself
13. well i bought a larger puller and am hoping it wont break this time, and am thinking that its just cause its on a spare motor i want the starter gear from and has not been used in years the one in my DD will come off easyer
14. so my starter clutch is toast and im trying to get my stator magnet off and it refuses to budge, tried heating it, tried tapping it under pressure, and i mean alot of pressure, i broke the 1/2" steel end off the gear puller reaming on it
15. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82476 thats the build thread if you wanna see how i mounted them
16. ya seems like either the tip over switch got stuck tripped, try taking your headlight off and givving the tip over switch a little tap
17. http://www.kicker.com/ps5250 those speakers in 2 amp
18. the video dosent really capture how loud it really is, i mean when your sitting on the bike and have it turned up high you can feel the speakers hit you in the chest its fantastic the speakers are 2 ohm. the amp can give a bit more power to two ohm easier than 4 ohm. 19. its a fantastic amp, and by draw up to 20 amps it will never pull that in our 2 little speaker set up. i can crank up my 5 1/4" speakers at idle and not dip my voltage with any measurable drops
20. i ran the wires to the back of the bike and have the antenna sitting on top the the trunk rack
21. a bit of looseness in those panels doesn't seem to bother anything ive even lost the shoulder collars for mine and hasn't affected the fairings at all
22. i just did my forks a month or two back, both top and bottom were flat
23. now in the pictures i have the amp mounted to the inner panel of the fairing thats a no no on this bike, turns out our old girls are confusing and not quite normal as my audio guy says. i was having an issue where the amp would work perfectly until i cracked on the throttle. spent a week hunting down the issue, and we were crazy stumped. tried isolating it as much as i could from the bike and even covered both sided of the cover in dayna mat. turns out that the ignition coils on out bikes create an EM field of sorts that spreads out about half way into each side of the fairings. so the only place they can be mounted to to use epoxy to attach the amp to the fairing itself to get it out of the feild. will add pictures tomorrow but i textured the panels afterwards, i would fill any holes and cracks with epoxy. then i would sand all the epoxy spots until smooth. then i would mist the panels in rocker guard and sand between coats until the texture was smooth and uniform throughout, then once the textures were all matched i sprayed any black plastics with landu black dye to help restore anything that has been getting sun faded needless to say the end result is one hell of a rocking sound system
24. i dont know if there is anyone else here that loves their tunes on the road and want a little more thump than the tiny 4" speakers. the supplies are -kicker 5 1'4" coaxial speakers (water proof and incredibly light weight) -clarion amp -Wirez RCA cables -Norton structural epoxy -landu black vynal dye so first thing on the list was to cut out the old speaker and the vent mount (all my vents have been removed as well as the duct work, stuffs useless anyway) then i used a textured plastic to back the panel for reinforcement the floppiness of the stock setup always concerned me then i cut some plastic to fit into the hole cleanly and epoxied it in, then cut a hole in the two layers to mount the speakers and mounted them to the new location
