is anyone using an exhaust gas analyser that's fairly cheap to buy or even a relatively inexpensive home set up? ive been really wanting to get a perfect tune on my first gen since i got it but i haven't been able to get the air fuel right and have been paying with awful mileage

wow these are crazy awesome, i really want find an ega set up now. thanks for posting -
its been a gruelling 14 weeks of BMQ, and Thursday i get to march across the parade square and graduate as a full fledged member of the Canadian armed forces. Its really surprising what you can accomplish in two and a half months. I cant wait to see family again, and to pull the old venture out of the storage container and feel the road again.

it dosent seem too bad, i cant see anything that's not superficial as far as important mechanics. i would say check your local scrap yards for some new lower fairings and the main cost will probably be a new paint job, ide say $1000 tops if you do it all yourself, 2500 if you get someone else to paint it and to a good job

damn those commanders must be screw magnets, got one in mine after putting maybe 100-200km on it i had it patched and re vulcanized seems ok

nice to hear the weather is finally getting nice back home. up for a venture coffee meet when i come back to Nb to get my first gen?

i have been thinking about this too, and i can easily make an intake and fuel rail set up to accommodate this bike but i will need a bit of help to create a controller to run them. im hoping dingy will be able to help out here but i think i remember the ignitech units most of us run as being able to do injectors if wired right. if so it may be the next upgrade for the venture rider family.

i am huge on audio and have done extensive modification to my bikes audio here are a couple of my treads on my upgrades you can ask me anything about them http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82476 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=78063 you loose the cb and the stock wiring cannot handle a modern deck as the wires are to thin, i had an issue when i first put the deck in that the radio would come on then when over 50% volume it would fade shut off restart and keep repeating i had to run an independent ground and power to my accessory block and changed the trigger wire to the accessory block as well. so at the end of the day the only wires you use from the cb harness after you take out the cb box is the speaker wires and only if you don't use your own speaker wires like i did after the speaker upgrade so at the end of the day the factory plug just sits unused in my fearing now

i have a set on my bike that are 16w led, put out 1280 lumen's each, and are build like rigid industries. http://www.rthibert.com/web/Files/Cat/DPB/accessoires/files/assets/basic-html/page509.html its the rtx1212 at the bottom of the page or the rigid industries ones themselves but those are the led top of the line lights, damn near bullet proof. the bike could tumble down the highway (dont try that) and they will be fine. but both are pretty pricy

New Spark Plug Wires.
Black wing replied to KIC's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
i just use any regular 7mm copper core wire i can get from the local bike shops, works fine never really bothered to hunt down solid core as the stranded stuff seems to work just fine -
i used to run dunlop elite II they rode nice but wore really fast and couldn't take the weight of the bike, trailer, and 2 up long hauls and had one come apart after 5-6k km. now i ride with Michelin commander II's and they are a much heavier build than the dunlops, seem more of a sport bike tire and handle nice.
-
you wondering why your getting a 0mm reading is it could very well be true. these valve wear backwards so as the valve wears down it closes the gap to the cam and a smaller shim needs to be installed. so if it hasn't been done in a very long time such as mine was when i got it it could be riding the cam all the way around the lobe

Ahh suppose you don't quite have the output to be able to justify the lost material. Though still all doable without the cnc

so a process of square stock into the mill first do your internal dimensions, then move to the lathe cut the outer profile and then band saw before doing the small side ramps in the laite again individually? now guessing by the square stock you have a 4 jaw chuck on the lathe would it not be faster to do the ramps first offset the stock in the jaws and use a parting tool to make the ramps with an extra .260 - .270'' clearance for later parting and tolerancing then do your basic outside round profile, move to mill do your internal dimensions and after that's done all you have to do is toss it back into the lathe and cut em off with the parting tool and polish. how i would go about it myself to cut out having to do any steps on the tools one at a time its a little bit more wasteful on stock but a might bit quicker are you holding the stock in the mill with an indexing head and if so why use the square stock? the tool would be just as effective but easier to produce if you were able to start with round stock and not have to waste the time or metal to go from square to round sorry if i seem to be sticking my nose into your work just happen to see something for my brain to play with and go for it, gets damn boring on this base.

From what I can tell is its a lcd screen only an inch or so wide at the bottom of the helmet itself and not part of the visor. Bluetooth connected to your smart phone and the helmet itself is wireless as well. Asuming rechargable batteries internal. And it thw voice prompts work properly I can see it being way better than a gps as you wont have to be looking at your handlebars anymore
