makes me miss my R1, takes me back to all those farm roads i used to rip up. though i will say being off the ground at 275kph on an r1 is not even close to as scary as a 160 kph speed wobble on my VR!

Brakes Spongey
Black wing replied to KISSFAN's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
did you start bleeding it from the bleeder up at the neck under the handle bars and yes to get one of the sides to bleed the rear brake pedal operates it -
haha i know how that goes, wanted to do a carb job and re line the gas tank. now the bike is stripped and getting a total work over

snaggle tooth i am doing the work myself and that is the cost to buy all the individual parts alone. and by worn slide i meant both the slide itself ( broken in half and held together by platic wood) and the slide tube it goes in which is worn at the top right into the cast all the diaphragms have so many holes plasti dip cant hold them, and the air cut off diaphragms only seem to come as kits for 40 each at what i found and would certainly be bad.

ok so my carbs are junk, needs all new jets, gaskets, diaphragms, and one slide. and that will cost me $550.00 before taxes and i cant even be sure that will get my bike running A1 as one of the carbs has a large spot worn at the top of the slide tube and im not sure all the passages are clear. also im not sure what the diaphragms on the side of the carbs are for and have never checked them ( would add $200 to replace them). so at a possible total of $700 or more to completely renew my carbs whats would it cost me comparably to just buy a set of four fully functioning carbs?

best wishes man, i wish i could send you some more cash but i just got out of the same boat. was out of work for almost nine months after my wreck and just started working a week and a half ago (first pay is tomorrow) time to start catching up the bills. recovery time is one hell of a price we pay to love our bikes. some cager screws up and every time its us losing so much and living with the pain and the limps. but were bikers and we're a tough breed, we take the lumps and scars in stride. as a family we pick each other up and put our rides back together to hit that road again. get well soon, were here for ya

cruise control
Black wing replied to Black wing's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
aright, thanks for the tips! i'll update when i get it back on the road and try it out -
so i have a box here 1NL-85830-00 which ive found on here is the cruise control module, now im hoping to find a way of testing it. when im riding and i hit the power button on the cruise control and it lights up but when i try and set the speed it dosent seem to notice, ive cleaned the switch and it seems ok too

well in strait line breaking it would be better as the area of contact is greater. however in a corner it would be greatly reduced as the footprint would shrink untill you hit the side wall then you get a whole new issue as the side wall is not the same compound. i can see the appeal of darksiding on a sidecar rig but otherwise just seems like asking for trouble

ive ridden as low as -30 -35C, and ive not had much trouble. accel and slow gently and keep the bike upright as much as possible. basically pretend there is a side car on when cornering. though if you can put up with the cold ive found you get awesome mileage out of your tires when their hard as granite

its probably because you hold it firmer than her, i'e you stop the gun from recoiling and allowing the slide to return all the way and when she fires it it the gun slops back and she takes the force required to properly eject the cartridge. it seems like the slide is getting sticky and its just where its beginning to interfere or your springs are getting worn out.

Black wing replied to Black wing's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
