  1. could be worse i had my bike out for 10km two weeks ago at midnight and blew my tci, so its 4 weeks till i get mine from dingy and had to push my venture 2.5km to get home. did you know that the venture is a really heavy bike?
  2. ya i would lube up all the cables and loosen the pull side of the throttle till the idle stays constant where ever the handle bars are.
  3. god i have got to stop looking at these things, with my venture down waiting on a TCI ive been in the Harley and Honda dealership drooling over these and the Road Glide ultra's
  4. i have one in mine and ive been happy with it
  5. function before fancy, if bike b is tuned and running like a top i would go for that. you can add all the extras you want while you ride. pretty wont do you any good sitting in the shed while you hunt down parts. just the way i see it
  6. ya i did the same i added some puck board and epoxied it to the back of the air intakes to keep the water out and there is so much room in there now
  7. isnt the normal configuration for the rear brake to operate the rear and front left caliper and the front lever to operate the front right caliper. now i have though about converting the front lever to operate both and i dont see why that wouldn't work as long as you properly modified the rear slave cylinder to only output to the rear
  8. well pm me a price for all 3 and what it will cost for expedited shipping. just take it so far over budget at this point its almost cheaper for me to buy another venture ha
  9. no the headlight did not get super bright and the radio was not acting up or going super loud, i think the tci went cause the poor thing was just that close to going it was not the strongest thing last summer and i knew it was coming just wasnt expecting the rectifier to kill it and the fuel pump to go at the same time. the fuel pump apart and its wrote, the contacts are worn right off. turns out you pump alot of gas over 200,000 km so tci, rectifier, and fuel pump ahla toast.
  10. worst part is i knew that but just wanted to get home, oh well. live and learn. so i got the tci out but i cant figure out how to get the board out to look for burnt circuits. do i have to unsaulder the pins first to get it out?
  11. well i have the old carb bodies from the set i replaced with master guns carbs, i can send you pics of the ones that are still good and if they help you you can have em for shipping
  12. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLeljihD-08]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLeljihD-08[/ame] so this is a video of what the bike is doing to give you an idea of the problem also the way i tested the fuel pump was to unplug it and disconnect the fuel line from the carbs, then jumped the pump with a constant 12 volt source, it would pump and fail speratically so it is no good unless it can be rebuilt.
  13. ok so the battery checks out, the rest of the electrical is operating normally and the voltage on the gauge now that i can see it properly is up to the line in the green ( looks to be 15 volts) which i assume means top of operating range or normal i'm not sure, though it never has gone over that line. ive tested the fuel pump and it seems to have failed. when i connect a 12v source to it, it runs for a few seconds most of the time then peaters off stops or it just clicks a few times and stops. (note the fuel line is off and pumping into a jerry can so it should just run continuously ) now when i connect the test tank right to the carbs i seem to be getting the same result idles or revs high with the choke on, why would it be that the bike can rev up with the choke and die as soon as i move the throttle no matter where on the range it is? is there a way to test the tci or is it a remove and replace peice?
  14. ok so i have no idea whats going on with my bike i have never seen any issue like this, i took the bike out for a run a night ago and left with my battery fully charged. the bike ran like a top but a few km down the road i noticed the voltage gauge was reading almost 16 volts and the bike would fail trough some ranges which to me seemed like a failing tci but i got about 10 km and it began acting like it was low on fuel. it died and flipped the key a few times to get the fuel pumping but there was nothing, tried to crank it over and nothing but a few lazy spins and the battery was dead!! reading 16 volts and now im seeing that the bike was actually running like it was running off battery only. so now ive pushed the stupid thing down the road for an hour and some one finally gives me a boost the bike fires right up but will only idle or go crazy so i take off like a bat outta hell for home and make it maybe 500m before i dies again. now another hour of pushing i come to a gas station for another boost. fires right up as usual but now will only idle as soon as i give it gas it dies. so im at a total loss as to whats going on to me it seems like my rectifier and my tci have died simultaneously and for some reason unknown to me my battery will not get a charge . im off to home now to run some tests ive had the bike on charge all night and will see what i can learn but does anyone have a clue as to whats going on? on slightly related note does anyone know of a good muscle relaxer?? gotta put the old girl on a diet
  15. awesome! thanks for the info. i thought so i just didn't want to hit them till i was sure. last thing i need is to accidental bash a fork this close to completion
  16. so im trying to get my forks out so i can replace the oil seals but i cant figure out how to get the air collar off. is there a pin holding them from sliding off the top?
  17. yes it is a new fuel filter and i rebuilt the petcock last night too
  18. just a few shots of todays progress got the newly lined tank in, the new oil seal is in the final drive and the rebuilt caliper is on, have one breken wire on the air compressor to fix but it is reassembled and working again. new tail lights in, every screw has been replaced new, new brake pads, body work is just primed for now, will paint it once i get the new plastics. running lights have been re wired and modified to have a true ground. changing fork oil tomorrow maybe . old gal is getting one hell of a make over. oh and has anyone ever had priming issues on a fuel pump? it always running when the bike is started but it dosent taper off and stop like it used to, and the bike runs like the carbs are only half full. is there any way to get all the air out of the system or do i just have to run it till the air comes out
  19. best wishes art, and a speedy recovery. going down is always terrifying
  20. ok so i have the running lights going, turns out the running lights go through the tail light fuse and it was blown, but im still having problems with the right blinker. if i turn on the ignition it will not go right first i have to turn left first or activate the 4 ways. and if i turn on the ignition and immediately turn right but do not cancel it and then turn on the 4 ways once i turn off the 4 ways it will be indicating right. once i have it turn right once it will indicate reliably untill the ignition is reset
  21. it could be an out of sync carb or a bad plug wire and cap? have you checked your diaphragms?
  22. so i just put in a new blinker relay from dingy and it worked great but i think my 4 way flasher switch is the fault, i no longer have running lights on the front blinkers and i can only get the right hand side to start flashing if i indicate left when i start the bike like the relay is getting stuck, also it will not go into 4 way mode. any ideas or is it just the switch bad?
  23. i'll have my payment in tomorrow just letting you know i haven't forgotten about it
  24. ya my starter has been a pita but no cash for upgrading it as of yet will do it before next fall
