  1. If anyone is looking for 1989 venture royal. I have a buddy that just bought a harly, so he's going to sell his venture. It's a nice bike and is two tone maroon. We are going to put it on craig's list and maybe ebay shortly. Send me a message if anyone is interrested. Jerry
  2. I just got new wheel bearings for mine last week. Haven't installed them yet, Still waiting for the front tire to show up. I'll check the numbers on them when I get home and let you know. Jerry

  4. Thanks for the good advise and keep it coming. We just started looking this past weekend. The salesman did tell us the c-50 would be a better choice the the c-40. The c-40 would shake more at highway speeds. I would like a bike that she can handle well with the weight seeing she is not a big girl and just started riding last year. Also like one that will keep up with us on the freeways. I will check out the V-stars and Virago's as well as some of the other brands. I was just shocked at this C-50 special compared to the other c-50 models as you could feel the weight of the other bikes when rocking it back and forth, but not with this one. It would be nice if it was spring now so we could test ride some to see how they really feel and handle. Will have to find a decent Honda deal around here to check what they have to offer. She does like the shape of the shadows. She has always liked the chopper style look. Thanks again for the replies and info. Jerry
  5. Would like to here peoples opinions of a bike for my daughter. She rides a yamaha 400 special now. I was looking at a suzuki boulevard c50 special. This bike looks very nice and when you sit on it, feels like there is nothing under you. For a girl that weighes maybe 110 pounds this is good. Any thoughts on other bikes. Thanks Jerry
  6. Hi Saftyguy I have one and ride thru wayne county all the time to work. Where did you see it (roads or place ). Then I can tell you if it was me. Nice to hear from another member anyways. Jerry
  7. I would first take the wire that goes to the fluid level and put it on the positive side of the fuse box screw. this is while the bike is running and see if the light goes out, then you no if you need a new sensor or you can do the battery sensor mod to it. You have tested the battery to make sure the bike is charging and your getting the right voltage. Jerry
  8. Thought this was pretty cool to keep a little one from falling off. Said he bought it in canada but it was made for horse back riding and snowmobiling. Jerry
  9. Hope these pict. show up from Americade. Just one dog of many that where there. This one rides there all the time. jerry
  10. Check the fuse holder ends. They are Known to get weak and start blowing fuses. I had to change all of mine to inline fuses. the little metal clips just kept braking. Its no fun losing your headlights at night a couple hundred miles from home. Jerry
  11. I have a first Gen. so this might not be the same thing. Last year on a short trip the bike just died on me going thru town. It would turn over and try and start. Playing with the chaock it fired up and I could ride a little ways be for dieing again. Did this several time before clearing up and running real good for about two to three weeks. Then it started doing the same thing again. Once again it just cleared up before I had any tools to diagnose it. Been running good till this years trip to americade, in fact I towed a trailer the with no problem. While up the it started the same thing again and this time I had some tools to work with. Ended up being the fuel pump sticking. I would check the pump real good.
  12. You are right, it is a nice place to see. It also makes for a nice break on a long ride. The wife and I stopped there and took the hike up to the top to stretch are legs from all the sitting. take some water for the hike or the horse back ride up. Theres a big satellite dish to the south of there, does anyone Know what that is or the name of it? This way I no the name of the play I dropped my bike at or the school that is there. Jerry:fiddle:
  13. I think there are springs that hold it on and just a rubber gasket in between the two metal pieces. Might have to give it a couple of taps with a rubber mallet.
  14. Phil I live around the corner from d&m store on Elisha st, stop by any time. I road a goldwing when mine broke down at americade. Liked the way it handled and it felt so lite to move and turn with. But yamaha has a lot more power from the start, goldwing felt slugish till its rpms got up higher.
  15. Phil to answer your question earlier, yes I have been to americade the last 4 of 5 years now and have already made plans for next year. This year the old bike decided to acked up. We normaly take a ride while up there. that remindes me, it tested us last year too by brakeing the headlight fuse holder at night up in Vermont. This year the fuel pump decided to give out on the lake placid ride. Called the yamaha dealer in Glen falls for a new one. They said they did not stock it and the price was $292.00 and would take 3-4 days to get. But for another $60.00 they would overnight it. I said no thanks I would cobb something up. My daughter was coming up on Friday so we called Lanes yamaha in Watkins glen but they to did not have one and they tried to find a used one for me. Went to a napa store to get any low pressure electric fuel pump there. For $60.00 I got a great looking pump and all the fittings, hoses clamps to make it work. About an hour and ahalf of down time and we where on the road again for a great ride up to lake placid. This pump looks good and my friend that has a 89 venture from Waterloo may buy one to have as a spare for his. I have picts. and part numbers to add to this site when I can figure out how to do pictures here. You should notice your ventures power comes on around 3200-3500 rpms and really likes the high rpms. I'm getting to old to see what my ride will do. Not that I'm that old {50} but I have been riding a little scared lately. I had one deer jump over me and this year I coud have slapped ones tail. My brother killed one last year with his harley. So I'll let the speed go with the crotchrockets and sit back in comfort on my venture. So guys I no this does'nt belong in this thread. Jerry
  16. I was out with the wife on board but we just went to the high school to work out, did not go out to 318. I should have some vacuum gauges coming to help sync the carbs. I do have a home made one that works good if the carbs are close. When I first got my bike I took it to lanes yamaha because they had a mechanic that was real good with ventures. He said to take it home and drain the carbs, this bikes do not like the least little bit of water in the bowls. Then told me to take the air cleaner of and with a long screwdriver push the diaphragms in and out. they should move smoothly and if not that one most likely came apart.Boy he was right, the #3 cylinder was my problem. It gives you something more to look at. Jerry
  17. PJ it looks like where from the same area so if you need some help just give me a call. I have a 1987 venture that is a tan color. I might have seen you yesterday if you had your sidecar out and going south on 414 from the thruway. Welcome to the venturerider, theres a lot of good people here that can give you some good advise. Jerry
  18. Can I use those part numbers for a 1987 venture. Jerry
  19. I would have loved to go on a local meet and eat, but I have to work overtime that night. Hope the weather is nice for you and if you are planning another one, let me no. Jerry
  20. $82.00 a year thru bikeline ins. for a 87 venture in NY. Jerry
  21. Count me in and I no another venture ride that will most likely want one too. I'll get him to be a member her to. Thanks Jerry
  22. I have gone for the last four years and have started makeing plans for this year again. My daughter would like to go this year after see the pictures. so I bought her a bike. It's a good time for touring bikes. Jerry
  23. Take a look at a honda crv rear end set up. I looked at my crv and every thing looks self contained and a very small drive shaft, about the size of a ventures. My trike is going to be the old fashion type with the vw setup. I do have a question for everyone. I have yamaha 400 special I was thinking of useing for the front end. Do you think it is strong enough for the front end. Jerry
  24. Where did you pick up the tubes and rubber plugs. Useing the bigger tubes, does this keep the fluid from sucking up to a carb that is far off on the ajustment. Jerry
  25. I'm going to pull the fuel pump, filter and drain the tank. Then I will check the elect. connections and grease them. Got to get it fixed for Sundays ride. Thanks for the replies Jerry
