  1. Yep, sure did. And of the six that I found only two must have been interested. Of those two, they were outrageously priced. Must not need the work. Made a set of covers for my carbs. Tried just polishing, but there are a few marks that just won't buff out. So, if someone has a reliable chromer, post it here, or send me a message with the info. Thanks.
  2. Its not aluminum. Its sheet graphics vinyl that looks like aluminum.
  3. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced and reliable chrome plating company. I am in the Detroit, MI area and would prefer to deal face to face rather than on the phone or by mail.
  4. I do have a mudflap on the bike, but I plan to put a vinyl stone guard on the front of the trailer. They make one with a diamond plate aluminum pattern that I thought would look cool.
  5. Brian, The front of the trailer is curved just like the top. I thought about the wind drag when I designed it. Kind of designed to mimic the shape of my trunk.
  6. Well its almost done. A few odds and ends and we'll be using it. It started as A Harbor Freight trailer. I narrowed the frame 10". Built the base out of 1/2" plywood and the shell out of 1/4" luan. Wrapped the whole thing in fiberglass and bondo to smooth it out. Used the trunk hinges out of a Ford Taurus. Opened up the reflector between the saddlebags from a 1st Gen Venture, and installed led tail/brake/turn signals for the rear lighting. Along with the trunk hinges I got the electric trunk release, so no keys to get into the trailer. Painted the whole interior white, and plan to install a white led strip for the inside. Also have a remnant of carpeting that need to be cut to fit. Then I'm off to the scales to see how much it weights. I'm guessing around 225 lbs give or take. Then the next decision is a swivel coupler. If I really need it or not. The only trailer I have pulled had one, so I will probably get one. But thats it, in a nutshell. Been an ongoing project for about two years now. Will be glad to finally see how it works.
  7. Been reading this thread, and I have a question. Been riding my 05 RSV with a Kuhmo now for 30k miles. I noticed a slight handling issue when when I put a smaller size front tire on, like 130/90 R16 instead of the OE 150/80 R16. Just a thought, what size is your front tire? The dealer may say the tire is fine, but it may be the wrong size. By the way, I run 35 psi in my CT AND I'm going back to the stock size front tire next time it need changing.
  8. I would have to agree. While my preference would be a Dodge truck, simply because they are the only ones that have been able to take the abuse. I've had problems with dealerships. I'd try another dealer to get it fixed. If they can't fix it right, then I'd put it out to pasture and shoot it right between the eyes.
  9. I don't believe it should leak. Might need to replace a seal.
  10. Gary, Speaking from experience, since I just upgraded my RSV brakes to the R1 brake calipers, there is a BIG difference in the stopping power. My main reason was since I plan to pull a trailer. There is a firmer feel to the brake lever, and with the same amount of pressure on the lever the bikes stops way better and quicker. But that is just my opinion. George
  11. When I replaced my pump, I just bought a Mr Gasket solenoid type pump with 7 - 10 psi at the local auto parts store. If I remember right it cost me $26 and about 2 hours to fit everything in the stock location. That was about 20k miles ago and still working fine. I couldn't see using the points style pump and having problems down the road. Plus now it would be a 15 minute swap if needed and not hard to find parts on the road.
  12. While one of the advantages to running a car tire on your bike is longevity, don't forget maintenance. The other day I left dinner with a group of friends, just like I have done many times in the past. Pulled out into traffic shifted to second gear and heard the sound that sounded like ball bearings in a blender. I coasted over into the left turn lane and came to a stop. One of my buddies pulled up along side of me and asked what was wrong. I looked at him and said, I'm in second gear, both feet are on the ground, my hands are in the air, the engine is running, and I'm not moving!!! Your guess is as good as mine. So we pushed the bike off the road and into the parking lot and shut it down. Luckily for me I was close to help. My buddy went home and grabbed his trailer, (about 3 miles away) and we took the bike to his house. Now comes the problem. We removed the rear wheel, and found the splines on the clutch hub, (the gear on the wheel that connects to the rear differential) was stripped clean. This is why regular maintenance is essential. After further thought, my rear wheel had not been removed from the bike for 30k miles. When I was running a M/C tire and changing it every 8k to 10k miles, that hub was getting cleaned and greased regularly. Fortunately there was no wear or damage to the differential and $104 later for a new hub and dust seal, I was back on the road. Just thought I would share this little bit of info. If it saves just one person from braking down on the road, my job is done.
  13. I looked at my 05 RSV today and it has both mph & kph on the display. Its that way on all the other RSV that I know as well. I know that the glass display is replaceable, since I took mine apart to see if I could change the color of the lights in the display. Of course you would have to purchase a used speedo to get the glass.
  14. I have a 2005 Royal Star Venture. Recently (this riding season) I have been experiencing a problem. When listening to the radio, and trying to talk on the cb, the channel changes when I push the talk button. If the display unit is on the cb display, the cb channel changes. I've checked the connections in the fairing, and they are all good. Was wondering if maybe the talk switch was bad? I did have to spray some cleaner into it to be able to transmit. Any thoughts? Thanks, George
