2006 Venture electrical problem
dfitzbiz replied to Sylvester's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Condor, thanks for the input. I believe that the charging system is charging OK because the battery returns to full charge after a little riding time. Can a problem with the charging system drain the battery? If so, what, and what is the troubleshooting procedure? -
2006 Venture electrical problem

I thought I would bring this thread back to life and share my experiences with a discharging battery. The old battery had discharged over about 2 months of no riding and would not accept a charge. I installed a new battery in mid-January. The new battery discharged in less than 2 weeks. I removed the battery and recharged it to full charge. Using the info this post I did a parasitic drain test and found a draw of 110 ma with the backup fuse in place and 0 drain with the backup fuse removed. I checked the draw as I removed the fuses mounted under the front right lower fairing. When I removed the Cruise Control fuse the draw dropped to 70 ma. The “Cruise” switch, located below the cassette player, was in the spring loaded center position (ON?). When I moved the switch to the OFF position the draw dropped to 70 ma. I believe the switch is defective allowing the current to discharge through the Cruise switch and the Cruise Relay. The next step, as time permits, is to remove the switch and test for proper operation. Cleaning and lubrication of the switch may be in order. -
Mrs. Fitz loves it. The stock seat cut into her back. 500 mile days, "No Problem!"

Check out the vacuum lines and caps that are located between the carbs (check out the tech section-carb sync for the pics). A leaking cap caused decel popping on my RSV. Also clean the system with SeaFoam. I use 1/2 can in a tank of gas. A carb sync may be in order. Good Luck. I'm sure others will chime in.

I use Bike Brite. This stuff is great. Not white glove great but close. Spray it on everywhere(windshield, seat, chrome, paint, rubber), high pressure hose (garden hose) it off, wipe it down with a lint free cloth and finish it off with some Lemon Pledge. I use the Dollar Store brand of pledge. Check out there web site http://www.bikebrite.com/ I would rather ride than clean. Enjoy!

But I know you will get responses of over 200,000. These things will run for ever if well maintained.

I am also a large man. I have no issues with the power required to haul my butt up and down the mountains of Pennsylvania. I ride a '99 with 90K mile on the odometer and it still has the same get up and go as when I bought it. I ride 2 up quite a bit and power has never been an issue and there is plenty of room for the operator and passenger. The RSV may be a little hard to handle at parking lot speeds but it cruises the highway like a dream. My wife won't ride anything else. Good luck in your search!

Eddie, this is a big deal. As a long time rec. league coach I know this is what every ball player strives for. Wish them good luck on my behalf. I will be watching and cheering for them. What is the full name of the school?

I cut a 3/4" piece from the long end of a hex wrench and used it with the corresponding size open end wrench to take out the bolts. It is a little tight but can be done.

Early in the year of twenty eleven The Steelers are driving for Lombardi times seven. The Raven's been plucked and the Jets have been grounded The Steelers have played 'till the last whistle sounded. So it's on to Dallas, give your sweetheart a squeeze. And scream out our cheer "WE AIN'T AFRAID OF NO CHEESE!" HERE WE GO, STEELERS, HERE WE GO!

I own the PT145SS. It operates with no issues, the only problem I have is that it shoots 10" low at 10 yards. There is no elevation adjustment on the rear sight. May have to go with after market sights. Recoil is manageable for a .45.

If your in a pinch and need to get to MD and back on Saturday you might be able to repair a small hole with a sheet metal screw and a rubber washer. This isn't permanent but will work for the short term. I have done this on rusted tanks with pin holes. You can make permanent repairs at your leisure. Good Luck!

I haven't tried a sheepskin but the beads have worked very well for me. Plenty of ventilation and a butt massage every time you move. Keeps the blood flowing and no hot spots. 800 mile days with no issues. A little Gold Bond Powder helps also!

I purchased a trunk from Pinwall. It was a little pricey but very good service and just what the had described. You can find them on ebay or www.pinwallcycle.com They have several to choose from. I would suggest you call and talk with their customer service reps.

This stuff is great. Spray it on, high pressure hose it off. Wipe with chamois. Air dry at about 85MPH. http://www.bikebrite.com/ PS: Buy the gallon and use your own spray bottle.

YAOQ - Yet another oil question(s)
dfitzbiz replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have used Rotella T 5W-40 for the last 40,000 miles. Turned over 80,000 just last week. No issues. Shifts seem crisper than with another oil I have tried such as Mobil 1, Yamalube and some Dino oils. Switched to Rotella T6 my last oil change about 2,500 miles ago.I'm happy to see Yamaha has OK'd T6. What a cost saver. Good luck.
