We are having a White Christmas in some parts of western Washington (state). I just looked out my windows, and it is snowing outside. YEAH !!!!! We are getting a White Christmas ! (Bing Crosby) I'm dreaming of a White Christmas...just like the ones I used to know. Where the tree tops glisten, and children listen, to hear...sleigh bells in the snow. If you like snow, I wish that you too can have a White Christmas.

Gooood Morning, Big Tom & Don. I hope ya'all get what ya hoped for, for Christmas. I wasn't aware that Martin came out with an improved version of the D18 guitar. Cool !

There "are" people just like that...on this forum. (gulp), going back into my room.

MikeG, thanks for all the info. It is helpful. At this point Craig is sending me a set of links he has, and I am going to check them out. If I need to go with less...lowering...then I can make some myself. But the tips on the front end help. Thanks, Miles (Merry Christmas)

Scott, the first issue would be, what generation of Concours are you speaking of? The first gen Councours was the 1000cc, and it was sold for about 20 years. There was a huge following of that bike, and the COG was very supportive of the owners. The second gen Concours is the 1400cc bikes, and have only been out for a few years. They are good...too...but much more of a sportbike sitting position than the 1st gen Concours. As was already said, ergonomics can almost always be changed. Raising the handlebars, lowering the footpegs, tuning the seat, etc, will make a world of difference. As an example, I ride every bike I own like it is a CBR1100XX Blackbird. To do that, I have to make several alterations to make any bike fit me to perfection, so that I am comfortable enough to ride a minimum of 1000 miles a day, and sometimes push the envelope to over 2000 miles a day. Whether it is on one of my 1800 Wings, or my FJR13, or my RSTD, the ride is not as much what the stock bike will do...it is more of what the altered/improved bike will do with you riding it. Personally, I am not into draping my body over the fuel tank of any bike, and resting the weight of my upper body on my wrists, as I try to carve canyons for a full day of only riding 150 miles. I would much rather sit up...more of what a GL1800 is designed to do, but even that bike has needs for ergonomic corrections, to suit the individual person. # 1...what year and cc is the Concours? # 2...buy a bike that you are convinced you are comfortable with, and (as we all say) ride it like you stole it.

I am not able to find a member vendor that sells the lowering links for a 2nd gen RSV/RSTD. Do we still have a member of this forum that makes and sells them? If not, do we know of a good outside vendor that makes and/or sells them? Yes, I know that I can make these myself, but...I am wanting to look at a few options. I am going to be lowering the front of my '06 RSMTD by 3/4", but I also want to lower the rear end too. So, please let me know if we have lowering links available. I did find the ones from LA Choppers/Barons but they also include the new bracket to relocate the rear brake caliper, which I find to not be necessary. No need to buy a kit with that bracket, if I am not going to use it. Thanks,

Mike, I am happy to hear that you are well enough and mobile, that you can go to the casinos. Have a great Christmas, and I hope next year is a better year for you. Miles

Hey Mike, if you have no other plans, and if you are going to be alone for Christmas, you are more than welcome to come to my home for the day, on Christmas, and have dinner with us. This is a real invite, so let me know.

Bezinga...squared.

Don, the question posed by Mike was, "what ya got?" He meant, what have ya got...to survive, to trade, to barter. He did not mean, what have ya got to complain about. So, Don, what have you got ?
-
What have I got? WATER ! Lots of it. That will be the new gold standard for the world. Other than that, I live out in the country, behind a fully fenced property, behind a locked gate, a lot of privacy, and the willingness to do what I need to to survive.

Bob, my immediate next door neighbor is one of the kings of preppers. This guy is "thee" architect for Intel Corp, designing their new buildings for anywhere around the world. He has quite an elaborate home office for doing all his designs. Well, he also belongs to a school (re: cult) called the Ramtha School of Enlightenment. They believe that the school leader, a woman about 65 years old, channels the spirit of a 35,000 year old warrior. They preach to their students to build an underground bunker with many years of food storage, so that when the preverbial sh%$# hits the fan, they will be the only ones left alive. This guy built an underground bunker...2 foot thick floors, 2 foot think walls, and 2 foot think roof, all of concrete, at a cost of $ 250,000.00. That was the initial buildings cost. Then he had $ 60,000.00 worth of custom cabinetry built for it. The costs go on and on, but he is very close to $ 400,000.00 into this thing by now. It is, for all intents and purposes, a work of art. Too bad he can't hang his work of art on the wall to admire on a daily basis, instead of realizing that he was stupid enough to fall for an old cult trick, and now the world will not end in his lifetime.

I paid $ 3.19 yesterday at Costco, in Tumwater, WA. We too have seen prices dropping, but they always seem to drop a lot slower than they went up.

It snowed here in places of Western Washington (state) yesterday, just on and off for awhile, then hailed at times. Later last evening it started snowing again, and has continued. Not a lot of depth yet, but everything is WHITE. I am a snow kind-a-guy. Love the snow. If we did not get any snow at all here...at some time of the year...I would move to a different location, just to have some snow. SNOW SNOW SNOW:cool10: SNOW:cool10:

Oh, Brian, oh Brian, oh Brian. Each of us has our own personal laptops, my wife has her work laptop, and then we have the one PC on the desktop in our office. My wife and I are very open and honest with one another, and given that we do not have any children living in our home, and no one else living in our home, we are comfortable sharing that one PC for normal computer use. When I am on the road, I take my personal laptop with me.
-
I agree. It is not that I have to persuade my wife, as she is on board with me getting this bike. It was more of a "funny" thing to post the pictures of the bike on the desktop background of our computer, and get her reactions to it. If I could go out and buy the bike today, and bring it home with me, I would do that. But they are not available yet to bring home. I can...and most likely will...go to my local dealer and order one, with an expected delivery date of late February, or early March. I am going to be gone almost all of January anyway, so it won't feel as long of a wait. But my posting of this thread this morning was meant to be more in jest, as to the funny idea of psychological persuasion for the new bike, than it was meant to be a serious attempt to beg her for another new bike. I still think it is funny, that every time she goes in to sue the PC in the office, a new picture of that bike shows up.
-
Dang it Jeff, I didn't even know I had an opening, until you told me I missed it.
-
Oh, Chief, say it ain't so !
-
I will not claim that this is a new trick, or up an old sleeve, but I am trying a new (to me) idea of psychological persuasion on my wife. Others may have tried this before, but it is new to me. Let me say that my wife does not restrict me from buying any motorcycle I want. My wife rides her own bikes, and I maintain them for her. My wife is a rider at heart, and she...understands...why we ride. She too can claim it is in her blood. Also, I am able to afford this, so the dollars issue is not an...issue. The government continues to pay me a lot of money for my brain cells, despite the fact that I have been retired since I was 47 years old. For some reason..."they" think I am intelligent, despite what I may have portrayed on this forum. So, to the fun part of this... After having seen the new Honda F6B on Saturday, at the International Bike Show, and seeing it confirmed that I want to own one...but knowing that I have a large building filled with motorcycles now, including my wife's three bikes, it would be a very small stretch for me to suggest to my wife that I "needed" another bike. We do give each other the respect to always discuss larger purchases, as we are a team, a couple, and respect one another. So, how do I go about bending things, twisting things, contriving things so that she herself thinks this is a good idea to buy a new Honda F6B? My solution, I downloaded all the wallboard pictures of the F6B that Honda has posted on their website, and I posted all those pictures as Desktop background on my computer that we share in the office. The pictures are shown one at a time, and only change when a person wakes up the computer, from sleep mode, and the desktop background appears. I think there are about 7 or 8 pictures of the bike, so she gets to see the bike at different angles, on different roads, and in the two colors (colours), even though I would only buy the black one. The first time she came into the living room after having seen what was on the desktop background, her first comment was that the bike is very nice looking. She did have a smile on her face. I then told her that the bike sits lower than a standard GL-1800, and she said that maybe she could ride one too. That was the hook ! So, for the next couple weeks, until the time that I leave to ride down to Bolivia, I will keep those new F6B pictures on the desktop background of our joint computer, for her to see everyday, in an attempt to psychologically persuade my wife...a woman with more than one Ph.D., and more initials after her name than I have. This is going to be fun.

New rear tire...

Gee, then I would say...read my post that is posted...just above your disagreement. I think many of us...including me...suffer from Too Quick of Fingers syndrome. -

New rear tire...
Miles replied to PuttPutt's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Gentlemen, I would be happy to hear your latest riding data, miles, performance, etc., with running your Avon Venoms at 50 psi on the rear tire. I do "try" to stay open-minded about learning where things have changed and improved. I will say, if 50 psi works for you, and you are happy, then...quite frankly...that is all that matters. If I run Avon Venoms in the future, I will set my rear tire at 44 psi, and see how many miles I get. But hey, I am always willing to hear from others, and learn more. I may have more miles on motorcycles than anyone else on this forum, but that does not mean I am the most intelligent person on this forum.
