1. Do we have any riders on this forum that live anywhere close to Wellsboro, PA., and might be willing to drive/ride over to check a bike out for me ????? There is an '86 Venture Royal in Wellsboro, advertised on CL, that I have been trying very hard to get ther owner, a guy even older than me, and I think his name is Herb (not certain) to take more pictures of the bike for me. The ad on CL only shows 1 picture. Of all the 1st gen Ventures I have found around this country, this bike in Wellsboro is just what I am looking for...99.9314159 % stock/OEM, and low mileage...31k...and no chrome rack on the rear trunk box. And it is even the right color. So, if there is someone close to Wellsboro, PA., that is willing to take a look at this bike for me, and shoot some pictures...and I do NOT want to have someone going out of their way to do this, then please let me know, so I can set it up. I want to buy this guys bike, but...I don't want to buy it based on 1 picture, and not seeing it in person. Thanks,
2. Being from Tennessee, you can also bring your own moonshine:whistling:
3. Good Question. On my farm we have no steep hills, as all of my property is relatively flat, but well treed. I have to go to great extents to cut down trees (which I hate doing, because I like trees) just to have enough open pasture space for the critters. We choose Nigerian Dwarf goats because of their size, and cuteness. My wife has been around goats for almost 40 years, as her bext friend in Western NY raised and showed goats at the NY state fair, and other shows. But the friends goats were all full sized. Having attended many large fairs ourselves, and seeing all the breeds of goats, we liked the Nigerian Dwarf goats, even moreso than the Pygmy goats. They are small, stay small, and are very actively running around, head-butting each other, they play as if they are still little kids...which they are.
4. Oh, MY...we better batton down the hatches
5. Thank you Gary. The attachment of that service bulletin helped. You have answered my question. Thank you,
6. Does anyone have, or is it here on the forum someplace, the number of 1st gens built for each year...'83 thru '93 ???? I would like to know just how many '86 Ventures were made, etc. Also...can someone enlighten me as to the second gear issue that some of the 1st gens had...and was it specific to a particular year or two ???
7. Here you go, guys...just trying to help us old guys out.
8. Yes, she does, but again, it is an easy job. I take care of all the animals/pets 99 % of the time that I am home. If I am away...riding...then she does it. I have it all set up so that it is quite easy for her or anyone to do. She still works as a doctor at the state dept. of health, so if I'm gone riding, it only takes her about 12 minutes in the morning, and about 20 miutes at night. That is it.
9. Happy Birthday, Don. Thanks for being Thee Man on this forum. Now...a guessing game. How OLD do you think Freebird is ?????? My guess : 58 What say ye ?
10. Dave the 650 cc engines were in '83 and '84.
11. Don, and Rick, in response to the new changes to the IR Entry Form...I have now already e-mailed in my completed "new" Entry Form, and already paid via PayPal. I am sure I am not the first to enter for the IR, but it is nice to have that off my plate. Entry Form and Fee for VR...IR...checked...done...
12. Dave & Sam, I understand why Sam likes that '81 Silverwing Interstate. Here are some pictures of one of mine...it is an '82 Silverwing Interstate. I went through it completely, from front to rear, and it is a happy little bike. I hope that Sam gets his bike finished to his satisfaction, and rides...forever.
13. My opinion...use the stock OEM front wheel, and sell the custom wheel to someone else that does not have 5 light visors on the front of their bike.
14. Jim, we do not milk any of our little goats, because we have never had them bred. If you dont' breed them, they cannot produce milk. So we don't milk them, and as for the llamas and alpacas, when we do have them shorn (lots of natural wool fiber) we give it all away to a local gal that makes mini hats and booties for preemy babies at a local hospital. We just enjoy the small farming life. It is not so much of a chore that I can't go riding whenever I want to. If I'm gone riding, my wife can easily care for them. If she is gone riding, I care for them. It is pretty easy to do. Our Llamas are pretty old...turning 20 years old this month. And the Alpacas are getting old...1 is 14 years old and the other is 9 years old. Heck, we even have our very first chicken, a Rhode Island Red, that is 6 years old this month. Having lived all over the world, and moving as much as I have (this is my 57th home), I was always on the go too much to have more than a short-term dog or cat. Now that we have settled in to our final home for the rest of our lives, we decided to have ourselves a little farm...but one that does not require a ton of work to maintain. Once the Llamas and Alpacas and Goats are all gone...we will probably continue to have some chickens, as they are very easy to keep.
15. Not HOUSE pets, but they are barnyard pets. We have 2 Llamas...Bert & Ernie, and we have 2 Alpacas...Pancho & Cisco, as well as the already aforementioned Nigerian Dwarf Goats, and...15 hens and 1 Rooster...his name is Sassypants. They all live the life of luxury in our barnyard and pastures. Hee Haw !
16. I'll bid $ 15.00 for it. Wait, did anyone wear it before it gets auctioned off ?
17. Okay, I told my wife that my compatriot from Buckley would be the first to figure this out. And he was. Good going Brian. I knew you could do this, because...you also have kids. Yes, Mike, the two wee little ones are goats...as in...kids. They are both Nigerian Dwarf kids, and are both a pumpkin color, which is very odd for these goats. They are named...Pumpkin and Mango. We are going to call them... Punkin' Pie and Mango Shake. We adopted them from the Puget Sound Goat Rescue today. They were found at a slaughterhouse in January, and rescued from the slaughterhouse. We brought them home today, to live with our other 5 Nigerian Dwarf goats...Petunia, Daisy, Buttercup, Billy the Kid, and the Sundance Kid. So...Joe and Joe, thank you for the kind wishes, in your assumption that I was nice enough to give a home to two small humans, but alas...our kids are goats. :rotf:
18. Tom, that really does look very nice...in the after shots. Nice color, and I love the black powder-coated wheels. Now, if only I could convince SilvrT to powder-coat his wheels Black. Great Looking Bike, Tom !
19. Mike, I poised this question to Rick earlier in a PM, but...here goes. The entry form does not include a place to fill in our names, home address, or our User ID name, if you chose to have that too. By having the entry forms be anonymous, it will be all too easy to get them mixed up, and confusion ensues. If I snail mail my entry form in, as is, then I also have to include an additional sheet of info, to tell you who I am...meaning a way to ID me. If I e-mail my form in, along with paying via PayPal, then I still need to supply a second sheet of info in the e-mail, so that...once again, you can ID me. If we were ALL to mail or e-mail our completed forms in as they are now, you would have 142 entry forms sent to you, but no way to identify who sent them to you, so...WHO is actually registered for the IR. May I suggest simply adding a line to the entry form...one line, that allows a rider to enter their name, possibly VR user name, and any passengers name. That way you can ID the entrants. But hey...what do I know ? I am old
20. My wife and I adopted two young kids today. A boy that is about 1 year old, and a little girl that we believe is the sister to the little boy, and she too is about 1 year old. They are the cutest little kids you will ever see. Brought them home today.
21. Ah ! That makes sense. Okay, Red Rider, YES...the RDL did hook me...IF it fits me. I have always gone down to Russell in person, and had my 10 seats made there, so...knowing that these seats are custom made to the individual rider, I can only hope it fits me. If you had used...RDLS...then I would have known:whistling: because it is really a Russell Day-Long Saddle.
22. Brian, PLEASE take care of yourself. You seem to want to do things too fast, or too many things on your plate. Slow down, take your shoes/slippers off, and allow others to care for you. If your wife goes back down to Cal., and you need...ANYTHING...give me a call.
23. Okay, Red Rider, I will bite...what is an RDL ? See, I told you folks I am old
24. Okay, Bob...I'll be your huckleberry. (Doc Holiday, in Tombstone) I'm in...
