Mustang Seat for My Royal Star??
Yammy replied to mellco's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Mustang. I've had the opportunity to try both. The stock seat and the corbin both bothered my tail bone. The mustang's back part of the seat helps, it's more vertical. The drivers backrest is also a must. -
Brand new E3 with a split in the sidewall. Need some opinions.

You got me. What's a zipper rupture? -
Arrived back form our eastern tour yesterday at noon, yesterday. Round trip was 5829 Km's. I used 397 litres pulling a trailer about 34.5 mpg. Deb used 322 litres approx. 42.5 mpg. We hit about 4 days of rain and it was very cold around Gaspe' and the Cabot Trail but we enjoyed ourselves. Camped when it was nice. Here's a few picks.

Yes, it is the same. My grand kids love to hunt for geocaches. I was just trying to keep it in the family. By posting a coordinate here, odds are it will be found by a fellow member.

We made it into Nova Scotia today. In my opinion it pays to travel in the U.S. Our typical fill up in the states for the two bikes was around $20. We found a camp ground in Jonesport, Maine $15 with hydro. Typical hotel $55. In Canada, Filled up today $33, Camped last night in a provicial camp ground $38 + $16 to get into the park, tonight $110 for a room. We are enjoying ourselves, nothing better than riding down a road. We had a very friendly boarder guard the other day. I went though first and he asked me if the usual questions and then asked if I was traveling with the bike behind me. Ya, thats my wife. He said, I'll give her a hard time then, lol He told her I had said she's smuggling in heroin, she replied, he would say something like that. Then she added I've gained a few pounds while in the states, your welcome to take that back. If I could do that everyone would be coming to Canada.

Trying this again N 45° 11.395¢ W 067° 16.945¢ Never expected it hard to find a good metal hiding place. Or, getting it hidden without being noticed. This one isn’t in a scenic spot but for those traveling many (Can-eh-dns) find it a good place to stop when leaving the U.S. Cheers

Were heading out tomorrow morning and I was wondering if I could get a consensus on a thought. I went out and bought 4 magnetic key holders and a souvenir to put in them. On our trip if we find a scenic view or a nice picnic area etc…we will hide the key holder on something metal and later post the coordinates on this site for someone from this group to find. They in turn, could take the souvenir, replace it with some other keepsake and put it back to be found again. The coordinates would only be on this site so it would probably be found by one of us. I will try to make it hard to find. The coordinates should get you within 10 feet or so. Metal and magnetic should make it easier to find but you might have to look under or behind, so it won’t be in plain view. There is the possibility someone finding it by accident but we could put a note in the case, asking them to please replace it, taking and replacing the keepsake if they wish. I think most would? Members could report a "no find", so others could skip the search at that spot. What do you think? Any suggestions are more than welcome. Sorry if this is already being done. I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes or steal someone else’s thunder.

We’re starting the count down and getting excited. Friday around noon we head out on a two-week tour. Heading East State side to Maine then north to Cape Breton around the Cabot Trail, west to the Gaspe Peninsula then homeward bound through Quebec. So if you see a pair of Yamaha’s give a wave and a honk, we’ll stop for a chat, coffee, etc… P.S. The girl on the red one still has a big smile. Pearle whites will give us away. We decided to bring our camping gear just in case, we’re bringing our Dog with us. Between pet friendly hotels and camping we should be okay. None of our stops are planned, so hopefully we don’t run into an area that’s all booked up. Today we bought a t-bag dog carrier let you know how that works out. Funny watching her poke her head out the top to look around. Wish us good roads, fair weather, and a safe trip. Thanks

My wife and I got into a camp ground late on evening and by the time we got set up it was dark. In the middle of the night I got up and went to the closest tree. The next morning I was looking for my shoes and found them at the closest tree. Nope it didn't rain.... Mark

Easiest way to REMEDY an Oil overfill
Yammy replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
What is the right amount? These engines are basically the same as a vmax? Reading the posts on the vmoa forums a small bubble is what you want on a vmax. Is the venture crankcase different? I've never gave it much thought, maybe I've been overfilling my rstd. Mark -
Deb's all smiles. Day was poor for riding, but did get home without getting wet.

Deb gets the bike on monday. I think the smile says it all. I'll send some more monday evening. Mark

5 years ago my wife and I both owned vmaxes. Our riding styles changed, we do more touring. I traded mine in for a rstd, several years ago my wife went to an 1100 v-star. Well today she traded for a 09 rstd. She's really happy right now, got to go Mark

Went to see the dealer today. (McKee's Yamaha) It was an hour away. I showed up unannounced but He said he'd check it out. Of course its running like a top at the moment. Everything checked out okay. They change the fuel filter, only charged me $15 for everything. Hats off to these guys. They wondered it I could have gotten some water in the tank or bad gas and said to put some gas line antifreeze in the tank. Ended up driving it most of the day, no problems. We're taking a ride to the Cabot trail and Gaspe Peninsula next month hope everything holds up. Heading there state side and coming back canadian side. Was thinking of taking the ferry at Bar Harbor but I heard its very expensive. Anyone done this? Mark

Thanks, Sorry for the lack of info. I didn't do much of a diagnosis. The bike sputtered and before it quit, it sounded like I was running on two cylinders. When trying to restart, it turned over and maybe sputtered once then nothing. I looked at the gas guage it was 3/4's removed the cap to verify fuel and it was okay. I didn't hear any pressure difference when removing the gas cap. I'm used to hearing 4 or 5 clicks when turning the key. I could only hear one. I turned the key from acc. to on, 3 or 4 times and heared several clicks. Then tried to restart and it did but it was running ruff for about 10 seconds then it smoothed out and I was able to ride it home. I went out this morning and turned the key and I got 5 or 6 clicks and it started like normal. Now that its seems to be running okay its harder to diagnose. I don't trust it though, like an accident waiting to happen. I didn't realize you could bypass the fuel pump when in a pinch. Do I need extra hose or tools other than what comes with the bike? Thank you. Mark

Left work tonight and got about a mile down the road and the bike died, as though it had run out of gas. Tried to restart and it didn't even try to fire. I turned the key off and on and noticed just a single click. Does a mile sound about right if the fuel pump is not working? I tried the key several more times and heard several clicks and was lucky enough to get it started and got home. Is that a typical fuel pump problem? Is there anything else I should check? What about warranty? Thanks Mark

There are free app's for iphones that you can record gas and maint on multiple vehicles. You can also sync your records to prevent such losses. Mark

Thank you for contacting the Cardo Systems Support Center. To reduce wind noise customers have told us that putting tape on the backside of the microphone often helps. If you look at the grill work on the actual microphone, underneath the foam covering, this will be the side that you can see a green circuit board with metal contacts inside the microphone case grillwork. You can also use the larger spare microphone foam located in the original packaging or find a larger microphone sponge that will reduce more wind noise from a third party supplier. I'll try this and post results Mark
