So I really want a bit more sound outa the new bike. I've seen a youtube vid for V&H Monster Ovals - they sound really nice with a deep soft tone. Think I'll go for the ones with the black tips. So the thing is: do I just simply order ones for a R/King off V&H? What year? My bike is an '08 Midnight Venture. Also I've seen the adapter brackets for them on ebay. Is that all I need to fit them?

Thanks for the comments. No idea where the seat came from, obviously on the bike when i got it & no receipts in with the paperwork. I presume it came from somewhere in the States. It's really comfortable. The wife has lower back problems from a horse riding accident, so she can't sit for long on bikes...until now She sat for 3 hours last night without moving. This bike will be a keeper for sure. If I can get in touch with the previous owner I'll ask him 'bout the seat.

Thanks for the welcomes. Why is it that no one knows about these bikes? When we saw it at the dealers, we said we hoped it rode as good as it looks. And it does! I've been looking for the bike which fits me in every way for the last 31 years of riding, & this ticks all the boxes. Why doesn't anyone (except you guys) know about it?

At last after spending alot of time researching the bike, I picked up my '08 Midnight Venture today. I was a little uneasy about the purchase as here in the UK the bike isn't well known & I couldn't get other dealers to give me a valuation as it doesn't have a book price. Fortunately as the dealer I bought it from has had it for at least 3 months, I got him to drop £3k on the price - so I couldn't say no!! The wife & I did 150 miles this evening & as the miles went on, our smiles got bigger & bigger! What a fantastic bike, it just got better & better. Did country miles with loads of twisties. Really impressed with the handling & the power. I can't believe that these bikes didn't take off over here, it's a real shame we can't get them new like you can. Thanks for all the help you gave me when I asked for advise prior to my purchase, I'll post some pics tomorrow & look forward to being around here. Who needs a Hardley, when you can ride quality like this?!

Sorry I forgot to add on my last post about the gear boxes on the Ventures. Reading through the old threads, I can see some people report gear box whines. Do they have a fault with this, do the gear boxes or 4th gear break up? Also can you advise what gear box & engine oil is the best to use. Many, many thanks if you can help.

Can you tell me how often to change the oil on the Midnight Venture 2008? Also are the tappets (valves) manually adjusted or automatically? Thanks, just trying to get an idea of the maintenence, ie if I can do it myself.
