Aftermarket TCI available!
Squeeze replied to tvking63's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You should change the Value in Column one(where you start at 900 now) up to 1150 or, meaning the Box will rely only at Base Advance(5 ° at the Moment) until the RpM raises above tht the first Column Value. Would rule theTPS/MAP Problem out of the Idle RpM. Then I'd not start with a jump between 5° and 15°, I'd go from 8°@1150 to 10°@ 1250 then 15°@1350. Big steps (like 10° at 100 RpM Difference) will cause somewhat erratic Idle. -
My first Stop would be checking the Steering Stem Nut. Maybe it's a bit loose. Second Thing would be looking inside the Fork Legs, looking for missing Washers between Fork Spring and a Spacer

I'm sorry, i didn't want to confuse anybody. I seem to remember one or another Post from Members who had been pulled over because the Cops called it illegal in this or that State for being misunderstood as Signals from Motorcycle Cop, though. They wrote a Ticket also in at least one Case. Doesn't make is illegal there per se, but I've been wrong before. But i really meant, installing a HID is illegal over here, or, at least very questionable. There's only one (expensive) complete Head Light Assembly which has the needed EC Tag, and you'll be discussing this with the LEO's anyway. But this Head Light is fugly. Using a Modulator would be calling any Cop you'll find on your Way to pull you over. -

Sure, we're good, didn't even felt poked at all :happy34: I just reread the whole Thread, but i didn't came clear on that, I think you're not sporting a MAP or TPS Sensor at the Moment, just relying on the Ignitech Base Advance Map, controlled by Engine RpM ? -
Clutch, Clutch basket, Clutch bearing?
Squeeze replied to puppy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Undo the Clutch Cover, undo the six Bolts holding the Spring in criss-cross Pattern, take the Clutch Pressure Plate out, undo the old Bearing, press the new Bearing in, push the mushrom shaped Part back to the left Side of the Bike, reverse disassembling Procedure. Takes 20 Minutes to half an Hour. Hardest Part is to scrape the old Gasket off the Clutch Cover. Plan on using another 30 Minutes for that. -

Sure, i'll do that, after i loaded the Power Commander Maps(gear selective) you created to fit my '09 Max. The Software is on their Websiste. Go ahead, i'm looking forward to your Input. :D Look, i'm certainly not trying to start a Fight here. Just trying to add my Thoughts and trying to be helpful and giving Input from a different Perspective. In Fact i appreciate your Efforts and raise my Hat to what you achieved so far, seeing the minimum Data we have available and the Doubts about the Reliabilty coming from Yamaha Manuals which we all have also to acknowledge. -

Brake upgrade to R1/R6 calipers?
Squeeze replied to kbert777's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sorry, what Sense does it make to use the same(FJ1200) Calipers as the MKII already utilize to UPGRADE the Brakes ? btw It's right, the R1 use slimmer Rotors, but i never heard anyone having to shim the R1 Calipers. I've done about 5 of those Conversions, but they always where just bolt on. -
Well, if you don't run the old Fluid out of the Lines, you won't benefit much of the better Fluid you're adding, because the better Stuff mostly just stays in the Reservoirs. This Motul 5.1 is great Stuff and if your at it, it's worth just flushing the old Fluid out of the Line. You, know it's a 5 to 10 Minutes Job if you stay concentrated and don't run the Reservoir down. I'd empty the Reservoir with a Sringe and refill with fresh Fluid, then just bleed the Lines like you're used to.

Sounds like the Kit from PCW-Racing ?

That's great Stuff !!

Definately not right for the '83. The '83 took the Vacuum from a Port above the Throttle Plates, whereas the later Years have the Ports in the #2 Intake Manifold. That's why i asked about the Year of said Curve. If the wrongly transferred the '83 Curve into the '84 Manual, this would explain the upside down Vacuum Values. Sure wouldn't be the first Time the screwed up in the Manuals. I still say, you can't be that wrong with the early Vmax Curve. I acknowledge the Differences and i'm basically with you, but programing the Curve is such an easy Task, why not give it a try ? Probably 43° is too much, I'd go down to 40° there, but other than this I'd try it for sure. You should be aware that the Sensors have a their Differences too, even while these are all within Specs. Meaning, on a stock System, changing the Sensor alone could give you 3° or 5 ° different Timing somewhere along the Curve without you noticing it or any negative Outcome besides academic Values on a Dyno. -
86 V.R. Bad Carb's?
Squeeze replied to puppy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The Sound coming from the Clutch which goes away when youpul the Clutch is the Ball Bearing in the Pressure Plate. That's a 6003 Bearing. No need to worry, all these Bike do this more or less pronounced. -

Well, i Kind of expected that, but a Modulator isn't legal in all US States or CAN Provinces either. But i figure, if somebody doesn't care much about Legality, it doesn't Matter much. Glad to hear about Hefe-Weizen !! !! There are not so much People in US which know this Beer. Even greater hearing it in Home Brewing, keep up the good Work !! I myself had a Franziskaner Hefe-Weizen the other Day when we were at a big Schnitzel Place here, sans Alcohol !!! Taste was not bad at all. I could get acustomed to that. http://www.sportpark-neuwirtshaus.de/service.html -
I got 5 out of 15 or so right. YES, i fail to understand the Market ... and i'm probably glad to fail in the Matter. Duh, and i thought Germany is high in Real Estate, but seeing these, i think i known where the Term "crazy Canucks" comes from...

Wow, does the Word Accident make any Sense to you ? Granted, there are many Things which can't happen with proper care, but calling those out who suffered Injuries even while everything was taken care of despite all these Measures is just cold. Isn't this Insurance existing for said Reason ? I'm not going to say, to me it seems like you have the Thinking of 3rd world Dictator. My Hats are off to those who can stand the voicing of such Theories.

HID headlight installed

I'm sorry to say, but that not true. 4300 K is near Daylight and is the "whitest" Light. It may be so for their Kits, but i doubt it. On a bright Side (pun intended) those "Bulbs" deteriorate over Time, meaning they burn out some Kelvins and sooner or later, you'll have a 4300 K Light and still. Regarding the Modulator Thing ... Well, i honestly i myself don't think a Modulator on a Bike is a very good Idea, but that not for me me to decide. If you still want one, despite the Fact that this Xenon gets seen even at the brightest Daylight, you might think about a small DIY Disco Light Kit from Radio Shack or whoever carries these in US. You could drive the HI/LO Beam Magnet with it and and let the Kit randomly switch between HI an Low Beam. This will come out like you constantly flick the Hi/Lo Switch in a random Time Pattern. Not exactly like a Modulator, but close. The Magnet on the Bulb may fail prematurely, though. I like mine very much, and you're right, what would one else more ... Perhaps .... i'd love to have it legal over here ... -

I'd choose the Slim-Balast Kit, just because the Balast is a big Part and for use in a Motorcycle, you'll need it as small as it can be. You realize these are Car Kits ? Meaning there are two Balasts, two Bulbs but only ONE Relay and one H4 Plug. I had the same Thing. It itsn't plug'n'play on a single Bulb Motorcycle Head Light. I wired the Balast direct to the switched Battery Plus behind the Light Fuse and used the stock H4 Connector only for picking up switched Voltage. Used two 6.3 mm Spade Connectors and inserted them right into the H4 Connector. This way, i haven't had any Issue with non-starting or flickering Light, whereas when you use the stock H4 Connector to feed the Balast, the Resistances over Switches and Connectors can comprimise the good Outcome, plus wireing it over the H4 Connector is additional PitA. -

Squeeze replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Nope, a Modulator can't work with a HID. A Modulator changes either Voltage or Current Output and that's really not good for the Ballast. The Bulb on the HID works with high Voltage(30,000 Volt) which is created by the Ballast. If you modulate the Voltage down, the HID Bulb won't light up at all. -
Dingy, still brake trouble?
Squeeze replied to bkuhr's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Gary, with the Lenght of the VR Lever, you should be able to pull them back until they hit the Grip, but there should be a tight Pressure Builtup while you pull the Lever. Most likely the front Wheel will be all locked up before the Lever is that far in. Maybe it's Time to have another Test Drive.
