Rear Shaft flex seal...help
Squeeze replied to jasonm.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sure, the Drive Shaft has to be put into the final Drive Collar before mounting, of Course at proper Spacing, which is determined by Mech working on it. Otherwise that big powerfull Spring between Pinion Gear and Drive Shaft will just push the Drive Shaft through the U-Joint and into the angled Gear... Wear Safety Glasses and proper Body Armour, three Layers of Kevlar at least. Last Advise, better stay out of the Way of the Drive Shaft, once it comes loose by Accident, it will take off like a RPG. I hope any body see the sarcastic here ... Nothing beats the Expirience of old and trained Mechs. Their Knowledge is the holy Grail, too bad they don't post too much here or in other Boards. -
Sounds like Lever Adjustment, sticking Return Spring and/or sticking Lever. The Lever seems just not let the Relief Hole in the Master open. There's only minimal Pressure building up and no Fluid will come out of the Bleeders.

Goose elaborated intensely on the Coils and Plug Caps. Some of them get rusty inside and drop the Cylinder. I bet there's a Problem on your Bike. Dealer worked on it .. That's not necessarily a good Thing ....
-
I believe you're right. A missing Cylinder could easily cause the Lack of upper End Omph.

I'm sorry to say, but the 5th Gear Ratios between '96 and the later 2Gen ARE different ...

Rick, i said it before and i'm awfully surprised that i have to say it again .... Traitor !! !! !! :255:

Firefox 3.6.8 here without any Problems what so ever.

Probably the Starter Button is stuck and can't come out enough to enable the Head Light. There the normally open Contact which operates the Starter Relay and a normally closed which shuts the Head Liht out while starting. Clean the Contacts and check again.

The License Plate on the Bike is faked too, there's no VFL in Germany. German Plates show the Town in which the Vehicle is registrated in the first Letter or Letters. I.E. Stuttgart is a bigger Town, all Vehicles have an "S" as first Letter, Munich has a "M", Berlin a "B". Bigger Towns or Counties carry two Letter first on the Plates. Like "LB" for Ludwigsburg. Wolfsburg, the VW Hometown has "WOB" on their Plates, but there's no "VFL" assigned in Germany. The Girl is also faking being outrageous...

I'm sooo sorry to hear, again .... Well, honestly, i can't say too much about these Fatalities anymore. Every Week there's a Report from somewhere in US where People get killed by irresponsible People and as long as there is no Gun Fight involved, they "only" use their Vehicle as a (deadly) Weapon, there seems not so much of Penalty involved. I don't get it. In Germany, we may not have the greatest Law System of the World, but each Driver who is involved in an Accident where People died will face serious Charges. And they will not only get a slap on the Wrist, but face a more or less serious Penalty. I believe five Years at Probation is the minimum Sentence you'll see, together with a hefty Fine. You'll be in Jail faster than you can say "I didn't do anything, i wasn't even there". And i'm talking about a real Accident, where mostly unlucky Circumstances got togehter and it just happened. Such a "Distraction" while Driving isn't an Accident, it's a Crime and should be punished as such. The Way i read (and feel) it, in US, if you kill someone with a Gun or a Knife results in Life in Prison, whereas if you kill somebody with your Vehicle while Texting, Talking, Shaving, Nail Polishing or whatever else might "distract" you from the obvious Job at Hand, it's Kind of a freebie ... What happened to premeditated Manslaughter ?? Sorry Folks, it's not against the US and the System, i'm really wondering about what's going wrong there.

What do you mean with loosing your License ?? That would imply you actually have a License ?? :bluesbrother:

Rear Shaft flex seal...help
Squeeze replied to jasonm.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well, it occured to me that you possible talk about the Position of the Seal on the Drive Shaft. That's self explanatory. There's a Circlip, which works as a Stopper goes on the Drives Shaft first, then comes the Seal, then the Washer and then the second Circlip. This results in an absolute Position of the Seal of the Drive Shaft. http://images.powersportsnetwork.com/fiche/images/YAMAHA/1987/Motorcycles/224_driveshaft.gif http://www.partshark.com/fiche_image_popup.asp?fveh=224§ion=8409&year=1987&make=YAMAHA&category=Motorcycles&dc=5364&name=DRIVE+SHAFT -
Rear Shaft flex seal...help
Squeeze replied to jasonm.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well, i rest the Case ... I should, but i try it one more Time ... What i was saying .... YOU don't need to push the Drive Shaft into the Collar at all. You stick the Drive Shaft into the U-Joint(that's the front End of the Drive Shaft) and just fit the Final Drive onto the rear Splines of the Drive Shaft. The Drive Shaft will make it's Way into the Collar on its own after tightened the four Acorn Nuts on the final Drive Casing. It will get inside the Collar as deep as it will and without any damage to the new Seal. If you're overly afraid of damaging the Seal, you could put a small Dab of Grease on the Outside Lip of the Oil Sealto make sure it slides in without any Binding. (I never did an haven't had any negative Outcome in doing so) DONE -
Rear Shaft flex seal...help

I can only tell you what i know from maybe 20 or 30 times disassembling and assembling the Pumpkin on VRs and 1Gen Vmaxxes. The Shaft will snuck in the Collar and i had never leak any of those. I had my 1Gen Max apart for many more Times than i can count, because i need to undo the Pumpkin to get my Rim out for a Tire Change. -
Aftermarket TCI available!

Gary, of Course i know there are several People working on the optimal Solution, but you are the one with the best written Documentation, undisputed in my Opinion. I really appreciate what your doing, as well as the Work TimGray and TvKing63 did and still do. I'm not trying to take anything away from them, but a good Documentation is a Lot of "extra" Work and i think i know what i'm talking about. I can follow this technical Discussion easily, but there a Lots of Members here which don't have my Background and I'm sure they are happy about what's going on here, because, sooner or later, working TCI's will be like rare Earth and this Ignitech is/will be a rather cheap and fine working Solution. On a Sidenote, seeking for Power and better Fuel Economy aren't necessarily two Side of the same Medal. In the End, if you run a Engine on the best Power possible at given Circumstances, you need only so much Throttle Opening to maintain your Cruising Speed. If the same Engine isn't running well tuned, you'll always open up the Throttle more than what would be needed to maintain the same Speed, thus sucking more Fuel by that and make fuel Consumption worse. Of Course, if you often look into upper End of the RpM-Range, it will cost you extra Fuel, because raw Power allways means running rich, but that Range is beyond what the average Member (if there is such a Thing as an average Meber at all) is trying to achieve anyway. -

I put the Shaft in the U-Joint and just fit the rear Splines into the Collar in the Final Drive, then mount the Pumpkin. -
The "Knock" which disapears when pulling the Clutch Lever is the 6003 Ball Bearing in the Clutch Pressure Plate.

Clutch Fluid - replaced
Squeeze replied to N3FOL's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sounds pretty much like you got some Air still trapped in the Line. The Clutch Upgrade (replacing the half Disc with a full size Disc and let the Wire plus the two Steel Discs out) does nothing big to the biting Point of the Clutch in Relation to the Clutch Lever Travel. What is does indeed is, you have a fuzzy, chattering Feeling on the Lever right before reaching the Biting Point. But usually you'll get used to this new Feeling soon. I only notice it since one of Rides(the '09) doesn't do that. -
Dianne, please tell he shall keep up the Fight !!! And thanks for doing this all ... for him and for us

Tank cover popping up on 1st gen help
Squeeze replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Gary, that's possibly a Kinda of Aerodynamics Problem on your Bike. I'd opt for Racing Quick Open Fasteners like Dzus, Camloc or something else in that Line. [/url]http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/ha/fasteners.html -

Horrible Howling
Squeeze replied to a1bummer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
On the 1Gen Vmax, the rear Headers are single Pipes. Only the front are double Walled. I'm not sure about the 1gen VR.
