Tire change detail questions
Squeeze replied to Venturing Sole's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hi, first the Procedure it stated above is my Recommendation for breaking in used Pads. New Pads are to break in in the Way that is stated on the Page you linked. Except, the contact of the heated Pads with the Rotors for some Seconds. The Way you and the Site stated allows the Friction Part on the Pads to gather a Lot of Heat and a Lot of Temperature Difference between Rotor and Pad. This Way, the Danger of glassing the Pads Surface is very high. -
Has anyone here turned a first gen Venture into a Royal Star?

Hey, this sounds like a Plan !! And, if you're equipped like you mentioned, this Plan has a good Chance to become Reality. I'm really looking forward to see the Outcome !! :cool10::cool10: As for the rewireing, if you get yourself a Vmax Wireing Harness, the most Base Parts are wired to Places where they will end up in your Plan. Might be helpfull. Also, the Connectors mostly fit their Venture's Parts opposites. Remember the 1Gen was the Mother of the Vmax, and there is just no need to reinvent the Wheel. TCI sits under the Steering head, Flasher Relay and other Relays under the left Scoop, Starter Solenoid and Battery under the Driver's Seat. -

Hi, -
For easy cleaning and not so bad Look while you're on one of your Ambassador's Trip's i'd recommend a Silver Colour. Looks good even if there is some Road Dirt on it. Friend of mine powdercoated almost every metall Part, even polished Alumnium Parts, on his Bike. It's allways good Looking, you can't tell the Difference if you haven't seen it cleaned up. White is for Ragriders, more Miles on the Rag than on the Bike. 1 Hour riding, 4 Hours cleaning ... Black is not far away from that. Don't ask how i know, tough, i like it anyway.

Well, do what you have to do .... Only Thing, Air Box, i sincerly do not recommend messing around with the Stock Airbox. These Engines are very sensitive in this Matter, a custom made Airbox will definetly give you a Lot of Headache. Better Idea would be to go for a complete Dynojet Stage7 Set, individual Airfilters and some gained Horses.... Other than this, there a forward Controls for the Max, they might fit also to 1Gen. As i own both, i can tell you, there is not so much Difference in the general Seat and Pegs Positions. but the Difference between Seat height and Pegs height on the Max is shorter, there is more Stress on the Muscles than on 1Gen. Other Questions rise as i think over it. What about Electrics around the Steering Head, ok, Battery can be moved, but the other Components ? The Wireing Harness would not fit for rewireing everything to the front Light. All the Relays behind the Windshield would have to have another Place. Dashboard has to go completly, another serious rewireing Job. New Speedo, Tach? and Controls have to be rewired. Lowering the Seat 3 Inches ? That's a real Challenge. Serious cut and reweld Job. What about the Tank ? You will need a Vmax Tank, that's just 15 Liters/3.93 US gal .... What to do with the Water Hoses ? btw .... a Vmax has some 140 Horses on the Clutch, around 125 HP on the rear Wheel and would give you a way better Base to start with. please understand ... I really appreciate what your thinking about, but believe me, i did a Lot of Work tuning my Max and know what we're talking about, this is more a 400 than 300 working Hours Job. And i have a Lot of Parts fitted to Bolt on ...Not counted all the Hours when you think, sketch, rethink, resketch, measuring, visiting Junk Yards searching for a fitting Part and so on. Not to mention all the Tools needed to give all your Effort a showable Style and Outcome. A Lathe, a Milling Machine, TIG-Welder and a Lot of other Metal Shaping Tools are in Order. -
Hi, how comes that you think it's electrical ? Of Course, if the Plugs and Wires are somehow old, they can fail any Minute, occasionaly the fail while one's working on the Bike, but most likely if you work on the Carbs, the Culprit will be the Carbs. If you want to change the Wires, Caps and Plugs, you can buy all at the local Autoparts Store. Just make Sure that the Caps are 'R' Type, the Resistor keeps the Spark Noise off from Radio and CB. Yours and your Neighbors. Did you turn all the Idle Mixture Screws 2.25 Turns out ? If you think that Motors works fine above Idle, you won't hurt anything while riding.

Hi, oldfashioned like we are in Germany, a Kid at Age 15 is allwed to run a small, 50cc MoFa which is going only 25 km/h or 15 mph after a small theoreticall and practical Test. 16 Years old are allowed for 50cc and 45 km/h which is 28 mph Topspeed after another Test. With Age 18 and way more intense Driverschool and hard Tests later are allowed up to 40 hp Bikes. Two Years later, without any Flaws in the Book, you're open Class.

Hi, sorry for your bad Expierence and it's real good that you can tell us about it. This could have been worse ... How can a teenaged Wrencher gain the 20 Years of Expirence you expect from him in his Age ?? Where did your Knowledge came from ?? Sad to say, but Things happen, we all mess up sometimes. Even in highly scientific Matters ... Some Years ago a Satellite was lost due Impact because, which was investigated later, the americans and the europeans did talk about measuring, the Americans measured in Foot and Inches, the Europeans in metric, but they forget to talk about that Issue.... :detective:  Only Thing i want to say is that where is the Supervisor, which should control the Work of his Rookie and teach them how to do the Job right??

Clutch Whine-Sand in a mousehole!!
Squeeze replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK, now i'm complety astonished. When i frist read your Postings, i'd thougt that you took the Assembly out. Everything. Ok, i thougt, that will cause the Oil Pump not working, but you know what you're doing. Next, i'd thought that you stated, the Noise comes from the Motor, not the prime Gears and not the Transmission ... Ok, now it seems to be, that everything has changed. It's the Tranny which causes the Noise ? Ok, forget about it, i'm out at this Point. -

Hi, or you can use a Fake Tank Cover from a Vmax to cover the Airbox, and as well the Scoops on both Sides. -
Here's a Screenshot ...

A Friend of mine lives in Hamburg, Germany. It has been very cold and VERY wet there all Year, except April, which was much warmer than ever. When we talked on the Phone these Days, i said to him, i didn't see Hamburg on the Forecast Maps since Weeks, it's allways hidden behind these grey and wet Clouds. :D He answered that he wants to have the Climate Crisis back .... :rotf::rotf::rotf:

I bet you can find a good Carb-Set in the Stable ?
-
Hi, how's your Throttle Grip feeling ? Does it snap back to Idle Position from fully twisted ? Or, like a Friend of has had, it's a bit harder to pull and won't move from this Position without a little help ?

Clutch Whine-Sand in a mousehole!!
Squeeze replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you take the complete Clutch Assembly, including the Basket out, there is nothing left between Engine and Clutch. The End of the Crankshaft is a straight cutted Gear in which the the outer Gear of the Clutch Basket meshes. This would, as you described, end in a complete Disengagement of the Transmission. -
Thanks so much for detaling that 'Impersonator' Term. It is, what i was thinking. Of course i'm somehow old and know some of Sonny Bono's Story and his former Actions .... has he done anything else than playing the Piano, hitting Cher, complaining about the Fact that she got rid of him and keeping the Jack Daniels Destillery on Service ? I just can't imagine why in World anybody want's to impersonate such a Guy ... :rotf::rotf: OK, i also do not understand why anybody want's to look like Elvis Presley in his elder Years or Captain James T. Kirk or Worf or whoever else .... As for the Star Trek Guys, those are 'positive Persons' in my Opinion, but Mr. Bono has, sincerly, not so much Positives left in my Book.
-
What's the meaning of such a Term ? Hey Dan, congrats on the new ride, i hope you don't break this one on getting the maroon Colour ridden off ..
-
Hey, i think there is a new Policy in Order ... Such like the Pic's Rule, no Usage of bad for Letter Words like S..w and R..n ....

Sorry, as Tobit is an international Company, i'd have thought, that if you open the Site, it sure ackknowledges your Language or you can choose the Language desired. I cannot find a Option for choosing english directly. I use this Software, there are actually some 30 US based Radio Stations in the Presettings. The Download is around 9 Mbytes, and the Assistant is not too bad, just give it a try. Even the Software is only in german, there is not so much to do, just tree or four simple Settings and your free to go. Only Thing, of Course, this uses the Internet, so, a Flatrate would be recommended. You can choose up to 3 Stations in this free Version. On left Side of the Screen is Timeline, once you have let the Software running for a while you can go backwards or hit the Live Button to get back to the Live Program. on the Left Side is a Listwindow. If the Stream you have chosen is sending Stream Tags, you will find the recognized Tags here and click to play the tagged Clips.
