Problem with E-85 is that it can eat up Hoses, Seals and Gaskets which come in Contact with it. Depends on the Material in use. You won't get a Statement about that from Yammi. We have similar Problem here, our Government wants to mix up every Sort of Gas with 10 Percent Bio Fuel. We have 4 Percent in all Sorts since last Year. Only one Sort should remain at 5 Percent Contamination. That's for the 395ooo Cars which can't handle the 10 Percent. Of course, the Industry choose the most expensive .... which would give everyone who need it, about 12 Percent more Cost for the Gas. Now, it surfaced that a Lot more Cars would not manage this E-10, maybe 2 Million Cars can't take that Crap .... They put the Bill on hold, for now.

:rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: Even while i'm only partly with you in your Opnion and his Attitude, these Quotes ARE really funny and i like them very much :big-grin-emoticon::big-grin-emoticon::big-grin-emoticon:

The Website is *.com but the Home Adress of the Company is in Canada. Man, does it feel good if Memory serves right, sometimes ... :rotf::rotf:

Bob, the Vmaxxes i used for Example, haven't had linked Brakes. -

I did check the IPC and i don't believe the rear M/C's are much different. Even though the Parts number of the Repair set are different in Model and superseded Part. -

No Problem Bob, i just didn't understand the Context in first Place. Why they changed the Brakes ?? Because they ARE poor and not up the standard even in these Days. I experienced these Hesitators(no Pun intended) on a Friends FJ1200, i know what we're talking about. Man, this FJ has 140 hp, but no Way to stop them adequate. If i were you, i would not give the rear M/C much of a Thought. Mount the 4 Pot Calipers and see what's happening. I wouldn't be astonished if you will find it working just fine. -

Now i'm confused. First you looked for a rear Master cylinder. Now you're talking about pulling the Lever to the Handlebars ? A Lot of Guys update their Vmax on the rear. They undo the stock 2-Piston Caliper, mount a special made Adapter and mount a 4 Piston Caliper coming from the front of the Bike(same as later 1Gen) or from a Set of R1/R6 Calipers. While these Calipers are using different Piston Diameter on the original Position both work very well on the stock 14mm rear M/C of the Vmax. I've updated my '93 1Gen with R1 Calipers in front and rear, delinked the Brakes and feel very good with the Conversion. My Bike has a the stock 14mm M/C on the Handlebar. -

Yeah, you're right. It's the Volume which moves the Pistons and the Pads until they get stopped on the Brake Rotors. Then, real Pressure builds up and moves the Pistons further. But you know, Volume is a Product and since the Leverage of both M/C seems to be the same, it depends on the Piston Diameter. But Times change and so do technical Products. Best Example for this are the YZF-R1 Calipers, they are also 4 Piston Calipers, but designed to work with a 14mm Master cylinder instead of the 5/8" M/C all the previous Brakes used also with their 4 Piston Calipers. If you mount these Calipers onto a 5/8 Master cylinder it will work. But Chances are that it works that fast and hard and you wouldn't like it. I've heard different Quotes about this and as long as nobody can say 'been there, done that' and it works or works not, we will have to guess forever. So, like i said before, it might work without changing the M/C. Chances are fifty/fifty. -

Bob, the Amount of Fluids the Caliper holds is only in Question when filling the System. Of course, once the Pads are nearly used up, the Chances of an early empty Reservoir are given, but then you just refill it with some Fluid and top of the Level. No Problem as long as you don't forget to take some Fluid out prior to back up the Pistons on the Pad Replacement. Your only real Concern should be the Piston Diameter. If the early M/B is smaller than the later, then you have a Problem. If the Diameters are the same or nearby, no Problem. -
Excuse me Forest, please can you explain me the bigger contact Patch on a Car Tire in a Turn according to the Pic you posted as a follow up ??

Or maybe they insist that much because they do not want to have somebody killed by a wrong Idea. btw did you hear about that Captain in 1514 that drove his Ship right over the Edge ?? No ? Neither do i, possibly he just didn't made back ...

Do i have to feel guilty now ?? I was talking about the technical Side of this Issue and i was saying was i think in my Disclaimer. I agree 100 Percent with Kit on this Issue and his Posting above. Only Thing he's a bit wrong is his Description of what happens when your cornering the Bike. the Sidewall is never in Contact with the Road. The Tire is forced by two different Movements. The Rim is moving the Sidewall of the Tire to the inside first and the Tread stays in flat Position with his full Contact patch on the Street. If the Travel of the Sidewall is not enough to reach the Lean Angle needed for the given by Speed, the outside of the Tread is pulled by lean Forces off the Road. This is where is begins to get dangerous. The remaining Patch which is now in Contact with the Road is smaller than the Patch in similar Situation on a M/C Tire. The more lean Angle you produce, the smaller the Contact Patch gets. Wrong Function and it won't work for me. You can see this in the Video Floyd provided. Just look out for the Moment when cornering begins. I also share any legal Concerns which have been mentioned.

R6 & R1 Front Calipers
Squeeze replied to Rick Butler's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You can be sure, there's not Excess, they mount them on any Bike above 70 hp in their whole Product Range. At least here in Europe. The Radials are not that much needed on our heavy Bikes, but it really gives a better Feeling on the Brake Lever. Even better when you have a radial Mastercylinder to feed them. -
Forget about the coloured Spots. Each Manufactures has it's own Marks and they stand for different Things. Maybe it's the lightest Point, maybe the heaviest, maybe the Color Code for final Check at the Factory or something else. Different Factories inside one Company used different Colours and not even the Tire Specialists know the Definition for sure. Just mount the Tire in the right Direction, put it on the Balancer and see what's happening. If you have to use a Lot of Weights to balance the Tire, think about breaking the Bed again and turn it for a quarter Turn on the Rim and balancing again.

Hey Dan, i really feel honored to be invited to stay at your Place. I told my Wife about this Thread in the opening Stages when Condor started his little Discussion inbetween and we got a good Laugh out of it. Now, she was very touched by your Invitation and we really appreciate it. Next Thing she said was, i sure have to improve my Language a Lot before we go for the Boarding Cards ... :rotf: Again thanks for the Invitation and this even makes it a Kind of Obligation to work harder to allow us to make our Dream come true. In a Sort of Retaliation, i invite you to our House. We live 65 mls away from Hockenheim and 200 mls from Nuerburgring. I know these Tracks well, but i prefer Nuerburgring, because the Track is more interesting even when they do not drive the old Track anymore for F1 or other normal Races. The old Track, as you might know called 'the green Hell', is open to public on several Days during the Week. This old Track is somewhere 8 Miles of Cork Screw with 2 Miles straight on the End of the Lap. There are some 5 Races each Year on the Nordschleife, 24h Touring Cars and Endurance Races, even with Vipers and Nissan Skyline GTR and of Course a Lot of Porsches. If you ever come over the Pond, you can stay here as long as you want and we can visit a Lot of Places where both old and new Automobile History is made. Here's the Home of Daimler and Porsche within 10 Miles, Audi's Cradle is on the half Way to Hockenheim. Not to mention the old Castles and Chateau's we have left over from 15th Century onwards. Churches, Museum whatever you like to see of Old Europe, we have it. I'm 110 Percent sure my Boss would give me some Days of Leave for such a Cause. :) I could introduce you several Sorts of Beer and other Bereages. I'm proud to say that my Wife is a real good Cook, so the bare human Needs would not suffer from any Shortage ... :cool10::cool10: So, give it a Thought...- 41 replies

Hi Bill, actually, you are uploading the Pic. Download are the Data Packages which you recieve on your Computer, upload are the Data Pakets which you send from your 'puta. I don't want to be picky, but since your going into the deep dark Internet, it might be helpful to konow and to use the right Terms.

Definitaly NOT!! NO try, NO like it. My riding Style is more on the Pegscraper Side. On my Max i have radial 17" Rims with a 180/55R17 on the rear. Do you know the Term "to drive the Elephant over the Feet" ? In my Case, there is no Elephant left ... :whistling::whistling: Well this doesn't apply to my Venture Rides, just because i'm tired of Bruises on my back ...

R6 & R1 Front Calipers
Squeeze replied to Rick Butler's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Rick, these later Calipers you're refering to, are radial mounted. You can see the Difference when seeing them. They work even better as standard mounted, but the Forks need a complete different Setup to take them. -

I got a BIG Smile on my Face .... :rotf::rotf: Could very very well have been me in my younger Days, well, except for the Harley ... Sure we know how to Party, we have good Beer here, a Lot of other fine adult Beverages, nice Girls and it is all about Fun. I really would like to set my Foot on US Soil, even better if my Max would be with me, if i would come alone, but as is said before ... now is just not the Time to make it happen. We will see :whistling:- 41 replies

Just an Oily Question
Squeeze replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Nope ... 49ers Steelers Bucs I'm no 'Fan' anymore, we have a very poor Coverage on NFL for the last two Years. Just Pay TV and not my PayTV Channels i have. Also i somehow got lost since the free Agents became a Problem for the Teams. Since they sell to the highest Bidder, there is a Lot of Football Spirit lost. I 'grew up' with Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, later then Slash and the Bus, you might know them all ... i like the Game, the Skills and the physicals of the Players and the Sideline Teams, but for me, it seems that some of "Sport" has been lost. I did want to visit one or two Games a Year here in Germany, NFL Europe as they call it, but it hasent't happened since Years. This League is pretty much like extended Farm Teams. Good Games, lots of Fun and a good Tailgate Party, for german Dimensions of Course.- 41 replies

R6 & R1 Front Calipers
Squeeze replied to Rick Butler's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You're right about the Weight and i would bet on Costs .. :) The main Difference is the casting Style. But they are really different Beasts. The 1Gen Calipers weight a ton versus the R1. I had them on my Max, and it was big improvement. I did a Tour through the Alps, when going downhill the Brakes did a tremendous Job and way better than the stock Calipers. When the Brakes are hot, the Bolts allow the two Halves be separated a Bit by the hydraulic Force on the old style Calipers. This cannot happen on the R1 Calipers, even when they are glowing hot, just before the Brake fluid goes South. These Brakes are respected to the utmost best Performance and Sensitivity in the whole Superbike World. Please look out for the blue Star Calipers, the later ones, which are golden or silver have Aluminum Pistons. The blue Stars have Steel Pistons should be very easy and cheap to get. Here in Germany a Pair used Calipers go on EBay for the Price of the Repair Sets of one Caliper at Yamaha. Just make sure you get all Pieces on the Deal, there should be one Pin, two Cotter Pins and the metal Piece on Top of the Pads to each Caliper. I'm not 100 Percent sure about they will fit Bolt on to your Bike. If the mounting Distance of your Calipers is 100 mm, they fit without a Doubt. There is not so much Money to loose, check the Bolt Distance, if it's 100 mm, go buy some Calipers, mount and bleed them, set back the Adjuster in the Lever and go for a test ride. If you like it, fine, if not, you can resell the Calipers without a huge Loss. If you like to take a look at your Master cylinder, on the Brake you will find a Number casted in the Area where the Banjo Bolt goes in and looking from underneath. This is the Piston Size of the M/C. This should read "5/8" or "14". Meaning this is a 5/8 Inch or 14mm Piston. The Calipers are designed to work with a 14mm M/C but i know some Guys who actually like their 5/8 standard Vmax M/C. I find it too touchy for me and went for a 14mm FJR1300 M/C. The FJR since 2005 has a 16mm M/C, but they changed the Leverage and kept the Lever itself unchanged. -
R6 & R1 Front Calipers
Squeeze replied to Rick Butler's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Lynn, the R1 Calpers are one Piece casted. The 1Gen 4-Piston Calipers are made of two Pieces which are bolted together. These Bolts the weakest Point in the Scenario. Why they downgraded the Calipers ?? Simple Answer, Costs. You 'Cruiser Guys' do not need outstanding Brake Performance. Just a little bit to slow down when leaving the Freeway. At least Yammi may think so. On the other Side, these R1 Calipers have been very expensive in Production in first Place. They first hit the Market on the YZF 1000 Thunderace. At that Time they have had a Tubing outside the Caliper to connect left and right Side of each Caliper. This was corrected with the Appearance of the first YZF-R1 in 1998. Now they put them on almost every Bike above 70 hp they sell. The Price Reduction might be significant enough to standardise these Calipers.
