Dyna list the PC III USB for the older Generation and the PC 5 (also PCV abbrevated) for teh '09 and '10. There's tremendous Difference between the two Units. The PCV has much more Options than the PCIII and the Unit itself is smaller too. I'd venture the Guess a PCIII could be made to work also on your newer Bike, but it will most likely take a custom Wiring Job. Not what i would do. Take the PCIII back where you bought it from and look for a fitting PCV. It's almost Plug'n'Play connection. I'd consider doing the digital Ground Mod while you're fitting it. Will give you a much better TPS Sgnal Reading.

Oil loss during clutch replacement?
Squeeze replied to craigatcsi's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Put a 2x4 under the rear Wheel and place the Bike on the Side Stand. Most likely no Oil Loss at all. Time Frame depends on how you're wrenching, i use a cordless Drill for most of the Bolts, so it's fast ... Normal Time Frame when using normal Tools is just shy of 30 Minutes. Scraping the old Gasket off the Block amd the Cover takes up to another 45 Minutes. -

Congrats on your Cure .... :thumbsup2::thumbsup2: But, is there something wrong with the Bike or why didn't you shift in fifth ? -
You can allways replace the stock Flasher Relay with an electronic, load independent Relay, allowing to sustain normal Blinker Frequency with all LEDs or in any Combination with incandescent Bulbs. Cost around 17 Bucks or so for. There's a plug'n'Play Version for the 2Gen VMAX on Ebay, most likely won't fit plug'n'play on any VR, but it's a pretty easy Job to make it fit. But you'll loose the automatic Blinker Reset when replacing the stock Relay.

Rick, I'm not looking for an Opportunity, you practically hand them over .... :p We're all looking for some Fun and how boring this Site would be if there wouldn't be no such Fun.:crackup:

Gary, you just gotta ignore SilvrT every once in a while. He appears as if he's bored to nearly Death while Work ... AGAIN !!!!!:crackup: Good Job on the Welding Cables !!!

Gary, i know. i know .... but i can't say I KNOW for a Fact ... There's some Guessing in there. The different Partsnumbers of the Slider is because the 41R and the 1FK ARE different from what we already certainly know ... - The inner Part of the Sliders are different, 1FK is straight, Earl mentioned there's a smaller Diameter on the bottom Part of the 41R Slider to deal with the smaller Diameter Spring - The Boring in the Bottom of the Slider is a different Diameter. - the Diaphragms are the same, or at least, they appear to be the same What i don't know is if the outer Diameters of the Sliders are different. I seem to remember that one or two Members used Sliders from the other Generation and drilled the Vent Hole or even epoxied it to give it a smaller Boring. That wouldn't work when the Slider would have different OD. In the End, it's not that important. We don't know much about the History of the Bikes bought used or bought off a certain Model and Year. And it's also not a Matter of who's right or wrong. Sure, it would be nice to know for sure, but on the End of the Day, everybody gotta deal with the Things he has as a given.

I don't doubt your Findings Gary. But who says these " '87 Carbs " are the Carbs which were on the Bike when it came from the Factory ? I measured mine and they are definitely 34 mm on the bottom ID. So is a spare Set i aquired from Ebay about a Year ago. My Vmax Carb-Sets both measure 35 mm in the same Spot.

Oh, that's probably called first Hand Expirience.... Like it or not, sing your praise as you wish, but i had a different "Pleasure" and i tend to believe it's in all our Members best Interest to hear both sides of a Story. Both, old and fairly fresh Members. I had my Share four Years ago and Goose came in shortly after i shared my Story with exactly the same Adventure. I can't understand why you're doubting our Stories and why in the World you're calling Goose and myself out ? Just because you can't believe what we're saying ? Well, just believe it or at least think about it being a Possibility. Using precision Dial Type Gauges is discrediting me ?? Wow, really, that's all i gotta say ...
-
My '93 Venture has 34mm Carbs. The '85 Vmax has had 34 mm Carbs also, but they changed them to 35mm on the '86 Model. The Carb Bodies are all the same, so are the Connection Dimensions for the Air Horns/Air Box and to the Carb Boots.

I' with Goose here. A Buddy of mine handed me his freshly aquired Morgan Pouch and one Rod was sticking. It was the first use ... Also what they call "Restrictors" is funny and cheap but sure doesn't belong into a "high Precision Tool". These Restrictors fit rather loose into the Vacuum Hose the provide. Regardless what others say, I refrain from using the Carb Tune again. Not worth any Effort. Even if one Dial on a 4-Dial Gauge setup is a bit off, you still can work with it, if the Offset is the same over the Measurement Range, but the Rods stick, slide, stick again ...

Thank you, Dan I've learned something in this Thread too ...

I'm not talking about "Outlaw" or law abiding Citizen. That a Matter of Perspective. One Man's Hero's is the other one's Terrorist. I'm talking about a wearing a Cut, a Vest, a Colour, whatever you may call and being Member of a Motorcycle Club with a MC. It's their "Uniform", their Ranks and their Way of Thinking. Of Course as a non-MC Member, you can wear anything what you want anywhere you like, but you may have to defend your very Right to do so. I don't get why it's so a big Business for some People. They won't buy a Fake Medal of Honour and wear it with Pride in public, why would they wear a Vest with a large Back Patch and Rockers above and beneath ? It's a Statement, like it or not, so why would one seek Confrontation ? It's like Simon sending Bruce Willis into Harlem, wearing an offending Sign in the third Die Hard Movie, ok, not exactly because you choose what to wear, John MacLane was forced to do that ... If you think again about it, you may very well also make up a Rocker with "Danger Seeker" on it. Think about it and choose wisely. I said everything i have to add to the Subject.

Just one Question .. How would you Folks all feel about someone which goes in the Army or Navy Surplus and comes out wearing a Marines or Army Combat Uniform or an Officers Unform. Would you pay him Respect or would you rip those Shoulder Boards or Insignia of his Shoulders ? The Services means something you you all, most of you are proud to have served your Country. What if somebody would buy a Medal of Honor and wear it at anofficial Function ? These Backpatches and Patches mean something to them. Each and every Member has paid his Dues (sometimes a LOT of Money) and even more important, they earned with their personal Availabilty for all Kinds of Activities as Prospect and a Lot of Time invested. It's not a much different Point of View from their Perspective. Think about it and act wise. If you stumble upon a Episode of Sons of Anarchy, watch it, get over the Violence and compute the Rest. Yes, it Hollywood, but there's much more Truth to the MC Matters in that Show than most would believe.

Sure, all four of them, but the MAX is a bit nekkid at the Moment. It needs to get the Covers on and the Handle Bar and Masters adjusted, before hitting the Road. The Turbo would need some fresh Oil before i'd hit such a long Ride, but other than this, i'd be good to go with any of my Rides .... But i ain't got no Time to do so .... :crying: :crying:

I have those Akra's lying in the Office, if i should take Measurements, no Problem at the Moment. But when will you get the Bike to fit the Pipes ? -
Ok, Folks, I'm sorry for misinforming. I had a different Picture in my Head. I guess, i should stop working on my 2Gen Max and start going back to where the real Motors are .... Sorry again :255:
-
to add to what Bob said, you could use Valve Grinding Paste or something like that to give the Tip of the Screwdriver a little extra grip in the Phillips Head. If the Slots are completly rounded off, there's no other Option than drilling the Head out.

Congrats on the the Ride, it's nice, but i'd gone for a K1600 GTL instead. Sorry, but NO, Traitor is already given as second Handle to our very own SilvrT :rotf:

I loved it, Thank you for sharing !! This vintage Sound will be History soon, they recentlydecided to freshen up the Engine Rules in Formula 1 to 1.6 Liter turbo Engines. 12,000 RpM Limit, probably gonna sound like a mean yellow Jacket Stem.

The left Pic is the Cat Replacer/Mid Pipe from Akrapovic for the 2Gen VMAX. The right Picture is the Mark's Pipe for the 1Gen VR. The Akra makes up a good Power Gain on the 2Gen, but the best Gain is at the Top End. It's made out of Titanium and VERY LIGHT, you almost can't believe it. Marks Pipe is good for best mid Range Performance and better Top End because of the overall better Flow. If you just tie both Ends on the left Side in one Muffler and both Ends on the right Side in the other Muffler, without any Cross over of the rear Cylinders, you'll loose Power. At least it's this Way on the 1Gen Vmax, when you a fairly stock Setup on the Intake Side. The Supertrapp Exhaust is a good Example for that. Looks nice, sounds great (and/or LOUD), but not so much go ... Also, the overall Lenght of the System is an important Factor. Brock's recently brought up a System for the 2Gen VMAX, when it hit public, they had a very looong End on the Mid Pipe which results in a Look which you "really have to get used to" ... Looks almost like a Wheel Barrow Handle, but makes up good Power ...
