had the same problem a couple of years ago. i actually wired the starter relay backwards when i was replacing it. started the bike normally the first time, when i went to start it again, turned the key on and the starter started running as soon as i turned the key. went back n changed the wires on the starter relay to the right way to wire it, turned the key on and still hand the same problem. starter running as soon as i turned the key. spent alot of time searching for the problem, never did find it myself. ended up taking to a local shop. guy just started unplugging stuff and turning the key on to see if he had the culprit unplugged. finally got up behind the front fairing to all the plugins there, started unplugging stuff and turning on the key. finally unplugged the radio wires and the starter quit trying to run when he turned on the key. started plugging in the radio wires and turned out the radio had shorted out inside on the first try. as long as i left the radio unplugged bike was fine. replaced the radio and bike works fine to this day. don't know if yours did the same thing or not, but good luck on your search. hope you find your problem. this is just what happened to me, don't know if yours did the same or not. Good Luck!!!
