  1. Another ME880 fan here. I have them on both bikes.
  2. I need the left. Mine is the brown/tan 2-tone color scheme. Guess I'm old. 99.99% reminds me of Ivory soap commercial.
  3. I went with the vesra paper filter. I'd like a spin-on adapter though.
  4. I found a decent looking one with only one sm crack online, but for $149 (and a future entire bike repaint), I'd like to know it will fit my 85 VR. It looks the same. Thanks!
  5. Your 84 is a Mk I. I have the same oil filter setup on my 85, and had the same question. Just changed my oil Sunday and put a new vesra filter on, but was a little concerned at how tight it had to be to not leak. Here is a link to the part at motorcycle superstore. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/5/87/18609/15693/PITEM/Vesrah-Racing-Oil-Filter-1985-Yamaha-Venture-Royale-1200-Parts.aspx
  6. I had a commander II on the fr of my vulcan. I thought it was a fine tire. It's now sitting in garage on an extra wheel when I chromed a set and replaced them. It has 6k on it, and still has probably half the tread left.
  7. After all the replies and help I got, I thought I ought to update with the final result. Bought a used 85VR dashboard on ebay and swapped out the cmu. Problem solved. I wonder if I can just replace the chip in the other unit and have a spare Also installed skydoc's fuseblock replacement kit. It starts much quicker now(starter has been replaced recently).
  8. My wife likes them too, but I feel resistant. I just think they are butt ugly, take up too much garage space, and cost more than 2 nice used corvettes. Thanks for the tall rider info- I have more ammo now, hehe.
  9. Even though a single judge would probably be deciding if it came to court, the old expression may still apply here... "Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6."

    Mileage

Best I've gotten was 48.5 on a tank. 85vr with 42,xxx at the time, new tires and I have no idea what if anything has ever been done to the carbs. I blame seafoam.
  11. Just found the entire instument panel complete for an '85 for $80 and got it. Also just recieved skydoc's fuseblock kit friday, so shotgun is loaded, lol.
  12. Oh ok thx a bunch, dingy. Thats still the best price I can find on a cmu, and the other is in Canada with expensive shipping. Located the oil sending unit. Wiring from it looks ok- cleaned more connectors with contact cleaner. No change.
  13. Thanks Jason been really busy, trying to get to the bike but it keeps taking back seat to everything else in life lately. Been about 5 weeks, and I haven't ridden it but once since. Afraid to because I can't trust what I'm seeing, especuially if oil pressure does die. Will look for that oil connector. I found an entire dash unit from an 87 xvz1300 that looks exactly the same. plugs and all, and even has almost the same mileage. Anyone know for sure if this will work? Mine is an 85 xvz1200tdk. It's $150 but its the entire dash. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-YAMAHA-XVZ1300D-XVZ13D-XVZ1300-VENTURE-ROYALE-SPEEDOMETER-GAUGE-CLOCKS-/380458409564?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item5895169e5c
  14. wow congrats. Quite a testiment to the toughness of the motors on these things...
  15. Thanks for the input. I did resolder the inputs on the board, as well as check operations of displayed error circuits. It has the tach cruise light and clock on bottom. Only thing i cant find to check is the oil level wire. Oil is one of the lcd's that won't clear, as well as kickstand, brakes and headlight.
  16. Hi- looking for a cmu for the 85vr. I can't locate a reason why 3, sometimes 4 warning lights are on as well as the red warning light, so I am down to shotgunning it. Ordered a fuseblock kit from skydoc, and I'd like to locate a cmu in the meantime. I "think" 84-86 will fit but I'm not sure and hate to buy an incompatable one. (if I can even find one). Thanks! Kevin

  19. Woah thanks, my back brake resevior is too full then. Right up to the top. I'll "straw" some out.
  20. Oooh- want to sell a brown passenger backrest and a cmu? Pm me if you do...
  21. Thanks, I understand the operation better now. Just can't make the connection to what can cause so many to come on at once. Nothing was added or changed. No aftermarket goodies, speakers, gps, anything. It sat in garage in dry heat for 2 weeks then went haywire. Maybe the chip is bad, but not sure why the problem went away once then came back, without riding it and bumping it around any. I am going to get that fuseblock replaced and go from there. Someone told me in another thread that replacing it fixed his tach and "other problems". I think there was a cmu on ebay last week from an 85- might not hurt to get it to try. update- I like the look of that kit- just ordered one.
  22. Hey, they still had guns, and could have turned around and fired again. In his shoes I'd do the same thing. Shoot until they are gone or drop weapon and raise hands.
  23. I read that they were hit and both arrested. Yeah, my only complaint was his aim and the fact that a hospital will probably absorb the cost of their medical care, and taxpayers will now have to pay to try, incarcerate and feed them. One ambulance trip to the morgue would have been a whole lot cheaper. Go Grandpa! But try to get some range time in too, hehe.
