clearview windshield
GunnyButch replied to jfoster's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have had the clearview with vent for a couple years now and only have 1 complaint. Every once in a while with the vent open a bug (usually good sized) hits the grill at the vent opening and gets to me already mostly splattered. It's not a real problem, just wipe the bug bits out of my beard and go on. Having the vent is worth the occassional bug though. -
I updated my zumo map data last year or so via download without any trouble, it took a while but don't recall exactly but considering the file size I didn't think it was too bad. I've also never heard of anyone having a poor customer service experience with garmin, there are people on this site that have said garmin warrantied units that had expired. Sounds like your experience may be related to equipment on your end (vista??) and flaming the first person you got on the phone. Just my .02 worth.

IMO, The carbon_1 adaptor is by far the most stable method to get your bike on a jack. It is attached, pinned, to your frame so it can't move, the pin goes through the two tabs where a center stand would mount. No offense intended to other methods but sooner or later murphy's law will catch up with the wood blocks, hockey pucks et al and the RSV will slip off. I also modified my larin lift to accept the lift adaptor better by adding angle iron.

I have a pair of those mounted inside the fairing and they are still very loud. My wife jumps everytime I use them. -
Give Cougar a PM. He moved his back recently.

I have a SC vanity plate on the bike but I would change for an USMC plate like some other states have, FL TN KY are a few I have seen.

It's easy to see since the trike conversion.

Did you put your card on the parked Venture?

How is the wind noise over the telephone with the Buddy Rich setup? I tried a Kennedy cell set and it was very poor. If anyone wants the Kennedy cell set PM me. I am very interested depending on the feedback from the Buddy Rich users. Thanks

How old are those tires that are cracking? I've never had any problem with them. -
According to this both aux fuses are behind the lower cowling, this came from the owners manual. Fuse box 1: Located behind the right lower cowling From left to right or as you're looking at them: Cruise control-10A Carb heaters-10A Rear aux.DC outlet-5A [ Located under the driver's seat behind the battery. That little WHITE connector plug] Front aux. DC outlet-5A [Cigarette lighter in the left side of fairing.] Audio-10A Then two spare fuses.

I ran mine to the aux connection under the seat next to the battery with an in line fuse. Easy to get to and controlled by the switch, the circuit fused but my in line fuse is lower than the circuit so it should go first if it does blow.

Here's a link to one that I like, 0-60psi lets you adjust tires and suspension. I wouldn't recommend trying to pump a tire up with this but the bleeder valve lets you adjust to exactly the pressure you want with no loss of pressure when you disconnect. http://www.jpcycles.com/Search/ProductDetail?sku=910-177&N=0&Ne=0&Ntk=All&Ntt=suspension%20pumps&Ns=DefaultSort&results=10&No=

I meant to add I have tried up to the 7lbs max from the owners manual and didn't notice any handling difference, pre-trike I kept 35lbs in the rear shock all the time.

Need help...To Trike or not to Trike? That is the question.
GunnyButch replied to Aimhigh's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
I had mine done last december at the Hannigan plant in Ky. I love it and highly recommend it. Cougar got his back a few weeks ago. Let us know if you need any information. -
Pump it up and see what happens. Please post the result though.

Unplug the CB box and remove it, the only change will be it doesn't show up on your audio controller. The same is true for the cassette player.

I had my Hannigan installed at the factory in Ky last December. Like Skipop said they treat you like VIPs, show you each step in fabrication, installation and access to the techs. When I went to pick mine up they worked until 8pm to get it to me that evening, things don't always go in time but they saved me an extra day on the road. When I offered the tech a tip for the late work he declined saying he wanted to get everything right before I left. I like the independent suspension over the other kit setups, the fiberglass work is top notch. HipShot, money is an object to me but I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Taking mine to the factory the kit installed was 12K, not cheap but it shows in the quality of materials and workmanship. Like others I saved a long time and didn't part with the money lightly. It has been my experience you go with the cheapest and that is what you get, cheap material and shabby work. As for reverse it rolls very easily, probably a little better than on two wheels. Worst case you can get off and give it a push, try that on 2 wheels. Overall it's just like parking your normal Venture, I always considered how I would get out of a parking spot on 2 wheels and it is the same on 3. IMO reverse is an unnecessary expense. Just my .02 worth, but I do love my trike.

Just in time for spring. Looks good.

What do you think about the effort it takes to roll it backwards?
-
Looks good Jeff. You should have it by now.

buying 07 need advice
GunnyButch replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I use 2 lbs less than the max cold pressure on the rear tire sidewall, same for the front. If you use Yamaha recommended pressure for the rear you won't like the way it feels in turns. The suspension is fine at 0 for one up, we used 35lbs in the rear for 2 up. All this has covered but wanted to second it.
