  1. cool. maybe we can hook up and ride if it ever warms up. I rode a vtx since 07. sold it and bought this rstd early January. hardly had a chance to ride it.
  2. does anyone have these. how well do they work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/231145344730?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  3. that's a pretty cool story.
  4. I have the red craftsman jack that worked great with my VTX. I even built a wooden stand to sit the bike on. On my rstd the motor and I don't know what else sits lower than the frame. Any tips/tricks on using this jack. just looking I'm not sure what how this will work.
  5. the PO had already installed a mustang seat.
  6. bought my bike right after x-mas. due to polar vortex and flood this weekend, I finally got my bike out today for a small ride and to really start to examine it. I have some questions I need you guys to answer for me. 1. what's the cable going to the rear hub? 2. looks like the tank has to be pulled to change the plugs? 3. Removing side covers. Do you remove the 2 bolts and just pull? It felt real snug when I tried it so I stopped? 4. Where are the fuses and how do you get to them. 5. Is the clutch hydraulic? any maintenance? 6. These pipes are super quiet. If any of you have RK pipes installed, how much diff is there. I don't want loud, just more than stock. 7. Anyone polished the backs of their passenger pegs to get a better shine. 8. How hard is rear wheel removal? Any pics anywhere. thanks.
  7. yea that's what I'm afraid of. This thing is a really smooth ride. Small touch but I like the self canceling turn signals, I know the cruise will be nice out on the slab. Looks like oil changes will be easy to get to. I do have some comments/questions. 1. Don't like the popping/gurgling in the pipes. Plugging the AIS is on the list. 2. I don't like loud pipes anymore but these stockers are to quiet. may add some rk mufflers. anyone have a comparison between the two. I would like a little more sound than stock but not to much. 3. Any opinions on driving lights/lightbars. 4. Hope to add some saddlebag guards. 5. I need a service manual. anywhere to buy or download one. 6. 70 mph whine sucks. 7. Anyone in upstate sc or western nc that could do carb sync for me. Till I can get tool and do it myself. that's about it for now till I think of something else to bug yall with.
  8. o yea. its completely stock except for mustang seats, kury grips and kury pegs on crashbar.
  9. 32xxx
  10. Just purchased a black 06 RSTD. Coming from a 1300 VTX. Purchased from 72 yr old who bought it new. Seems to be in excellent condition. Paid 6 grand. You think this was a good deal.
  11. Im working straight thru till next Wed. Told him I would see him Thur if its still available. Have to wait till then because its 4-5 hrs away.
  12. I've got another question. My VTX was very cold natured until I added pipes, heavy breather, and jetted carb. Fiddled with alot of jets and needle position until it got dialed in, now I don;t need choke at all. How cold natured is the venture? And what about the carb sync I;ve been reading about. Is this done often? I do my own maitenance but am going to keep everything stock if I purchase one. I;m thru moddin and fiddlin with stuff all the time. The dog bones to raise the rear end an inch is probably the only thing i would do if it works like people say. sorry for rambling on, I just like to do my research before i jump into something.
  13. Are you saying that plugging the mp3 into the aux outlet will allow sound to come thru fairing speakers? Are there speakers for passenger to? Pardon my ignorance but I'm just starting my Venture education.
  14. cassette - o boy. its got a 6 disc cd player to. o boy. LOL!!! what a waste of space. hope it has a aux plug for mp3 if i do decide to pursue it.
  15. New member as of today. been trying to find all info i can on 09 venture. Currently ride a 1300 vtx that i really like. Lookin for a second bike for boss lady and me to take longer trips on. VTX is fine for me but she needs more comfort. Found a red/black 09 venture with less than 25k miles for around $9000, maybe $8500. Lookin for any advice as far as price, quality, weight, easy manuverability, and the whine that I keep reading about, and anything else I need to know. Thks.
