  1. No didn't think about doing the drive shaft,. Darn it. I'll do it next time I put the wheel.
  2. Stopped at Advance auto today for oil and filter for the bike. They didn't have the longer PL14612 so I bought the shorter PL14610 filter. Will this be ok?
  3. Pulled rear wheel to get my commander ii mounted on my rstd that I bought in Jan. The splines had very little grease on them. When I took off the hub pins I could not believe it. The pins were rusted and looked like they had never had grease on them. I cleaned them up real good with a scotchbrite pad then greased them and the needle bearings. Glad I got this done and I feel good about doing proper maintenance on the bike.
  4. You could put the 130/90/16 commander 2 on it. That's what I'm gonna do. Others here have done it as well.
  5. wonder if he'll make it thru a weigh station?
  6. where exactly is the fuel pump located?
  7. Does this led there selling have a hi/lo.
  8. Yeah with me living in the upstate, most of my riding is cruising with limited interstate riding. I don't really see me doing multistate slab trips very often.
  9. Wow. I didn't know. Seems like a little funny business here.
  10. Would this work on the TD? http://www.bigbikeparts.com/templates/product.aspx?ProductGuid=10-105&GroupGuid=16
  11. Ok the backstory. Rode a VTX for about 6 years, sold it and bought this bike in Dec. A 06 RSTD. Have only ridden it maybe 200 miles. Right now its on the stand. Going to take rear wheel off for new commander II. Also going to lube driveshaft, wheel splines, change oil, plugs, attempt carb sync. I have read and read some more about the vmax gear swap. Only read one post from someone who didn't like it. I'm torn on this because I really don't know my bike yet if that makes sense. I just haven't put the miles on it yet to know how it runs. I mainly ride solo, usually day trips or weekends. no major touring. If I do the swap I want to do it now while I have the wheel off. So now my ? Do the vmax swap or not. Talk me into it or out of it.
  12. [. When I was a kid I had a 66 Chevy II SS with a custom built 327... White of course. The first time I rode this RSTD I felt like I was sitting on the hood of that ol' Chevy II, just enjoying the breeze and the responsiveness... The sound of the exhaust, the power... AWESOME! Anyway, here's a pic. I'll try to get a few more when the weather breaks. I also had a 66 chevy II SS when I was 16. 327 4 speed. red with red water color button in tuck. everybody wanted water color button in tuck back then but it cost about $350 to get the whole interior done. a lot of money back then.
  13. I'll take a ribeye medium everyday. yeah, I'd love to have that cooker.

  18. I know I'm late to the game but just put my rstd on my new lift adapter today. Thanks Carbon_One for a first class product. I did put 2x6's under the pads to give it a little more height. Gonna start some maintenance now. I'm glad these tech articles have pics.

  20. hey I might just send them to Sylvester for posting the tip. lol.
  21. thanks for the tip. that's awesome. just went to the building, removed the fins, and all 4 plugs were leaking. glued dimes to the covers and reinstalled. this temp fix till I can get new plugs and change coolant only cost me 4 thin dimes. you guys rock!!!
  22. Weather was decent yesterday so went to building to check on bike. Saw coolant on floor. Not alot but still freaked me out. Did research here and determined it must be freeze plugs. Will it hurt to ride it till I get them replaced. Supposed to be 60' today.
