I was planning on going to the PIP and I was hoping that some one would be there with a carb tune and show me how it is suppossed to work and how the carb are ajusted. I know this is suppossed to be a fun gathering but I was hoping to learn a few things from you all that have more time in the saddle than I do. I was just in the process of changing out the plugs but I thought I would wait to see if the carbs needed to be synced too. Thought I could do it at the same time. I am looking forward to meeting the regulars and those that came in from some distance. The wife wants to know if she should bring a pan of bars or something. Ya know somthing to eat while having a barley pop or orther adult beverage. I figured some one would be interested since this is a eating club with a motorcycle disorder. Ain't it ??????? I understand just like you said. Mine is where the old horn was so no feed back. Fuse is within 5" of Battery. Only thing is when I was on my trip I had to use it and for some reason it sounded like a strangled goose. I just changed out the relay to a heavy duty relay and it isbetter but not as good as it was when first installed. Next step is to check both mounting bracket and battery post cor good contact. Is there a reason you want the horn in the fairing? Maybe I should consider it also. Steve aka Bubber

You need to relax ! Take a chill pill ! Here is my therory on dealing with ANY government agency / person. The answer to the first question or questions is ALWAYS NO! or any form of NO. reasoning? Because if they said yes it would require them to actually do something. by saying NO they are done , nothing further to be done. No think back on all your dealing with them and see if you can prove me wrong. Once you have a firm grasp of who you are dealing with and that they can only say NO for the first bunch of questions you will realize that it is fruitless to proceed and you are dealing with incompetants. Did you tell them that you were broke and that you also had to prioritize things and that pulling weeds wasn't on the near horizon and friggen time soon. Their job is to frustrate you so you go away and give up. IS ANY OF THIS SOUNDING VAGUELY FAMILLIAR? Sorry to share my therory but I just thought I should let you know what you are dealing with.

In most states you are not allowed to have thre (3) head lights on a motorcycle. Tell them that they are really blinkers and you just want to be seen by the cagers.

Progressive Suspension Air Fork Balance Kit
Bubber replied to Maritimer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have one on my 2006 Venture Midnight. Installed it last Spring. You may have to take off one of the tubing nipples to attach it over the original threaded nipple. Make sure you allow yourself adequate tubing length between the two valves. Other than that 10 minutes work and done. BTW Not realy sure wht you would have had to take the handle bars off to check air pressure. Seems like a lot of work! Good luck on you project! Steve aka Bubber -
Whats a FACEBOOK ? "Any club that would have me as a member I wouldn't want to join", or something like that. the great W.C. Fields Good luck with your face thing. LOL

As I am reading through the posts I am wondering is there something here that has to do with location. Where your located in the country, South Vs North? Seems like there is a deep split if the CT works or doesn't work. I'll stay on the bright side and sift through the post for a while yet. BTW OB-1 I am sending you a e-mail.

oil changes with synthetics
Bubber replied to ventureblue's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just got back from 2500 mile of very hot brutle weather out in the west and I thought the oil was looking dirty, plus I had a drip from the oil plug, Well I dropped the plug and while I was determining the cause of the drip (loose plug) I just decided to change the oil and filter. Maybe didn't need to at 2500 miles but it seemed like the safe thing to do. I have read article on oil and in CARS changing oil at 3000 miles like a lot of guys do is a toatal waste of the oil and money. Now that I have said that "Just try to convince somebody of that if they have their mind made up". SO there you go. Just an opinion! Like they say opinions are like a$$holes every buddy has one. Take it for what it is worth....... 2 cents! Do what feels right for you and what you can afford. Steve- 21 replies

Tomorrow the ultimate epic motorcycle adventure journey begins
Bubber replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Watering Hole
Been there! Bought the T shirt (last weekend). Have a great and safe trip. Bring lots of money, becaue the hotels go up 300% from normal at least that is what I was told. One hotel owner wondered if there was a boycot because reservations were down from previous years. I saw plenty of bikes heading that way so I am not sure that is true. Ride safe Steve -
NOW ECK!!!!!! You really want me to break my second rule of life (I don't do Carburators) Since I broke my first rule ( I don't do electricity) your just seeing how far you can temp me arn't you??? LMFAO As usual it is a great offer, but I am going to try to get the locals to educate me a little. Boy will that be a challenge! Steve

Black Owl I am headed to Duluth on Saturday. to see the tall ships. I talked the little women into riding, since I got back from Denver (and I went alone) she is a little antsi about getting out of the house and away. I was hopping to see Juggler up there, not sure how I would recognize hin though. I rode the bike into work today and it ran strong and felt good. I still would like to check it though, just can't make it this weekend. Steve

Do you have a specific reccommendation for the second generation. I don't know a speaker from a whos-it or a whats-it. I agree, on the highway all I can hear is noise, hard to make out words. Steve aka Bubber

Russel I too would like to check my carbs but I am carb challenged. I am thinking of going to the Pork in the Pines. I think it is running very rich due to all the black (soot) in the RK mufflers. Pulling a trailer to Denver and back in super hot weather kind of loaded it up I think. If you guys do get together whats the chances of horning in on the activities? Steve aka Bubber

Can't do that every bad apple you meet. She just made everyone else I met so much better. Besides very seldom does a leopard change his spots or was that stripes? When I went throw Sturgis on the way back (a week before the rally), that whole area out there for the matter, all the people were the friendliest and most polite to their customers I had ever experienced. That says a lot for the Black Hills area. Great place, great people, great fun. The actually are glad you came and want you back. What a concept, getting people to like it there so they come back. I think I hit on something here! LOL!
-
Well you would be wrong on those two counts....LOL She was not good looking and my "horn" didn't fail there ....LOL. But thanks for asking. I threw the horn failure in to match the title. If that is all that ever went wrong then I am one lucky son of a gun. Side note: when I got home I decided to check my oil because I had a drip from the plug when I left. I kept checking every day and all was well. So when I got home I was going to drain the oil and find out what gives. I went to clean off the oil plug and it was finger tight. My heart sunk a little knowing that I could of had a real big problem. Oil had 2500 miles but I figured I better change it. them were some really hot long days out on the road and hard on my baby. New oil filter and drain plug crush washer. All is good. Ready to rock and roll. Steve

Sorry I paid $5.99 at Northern Tool and Wally World. I tried in my trucks oil (230,000 miles) for a short time then changed the oil. It brought the oil pressure up from 40psi to 60psi where it was. Cleans out a lot of junk. Well worth the price. Steve

I'll have to check out both of the possibilities. I was thinking it was the relay too. But since I am electrically challenged it was a SWAG (silly wild a$$ guess). One of the things on my to do list. Thanks for the replies. Steve

Well I rolled in to the homestead at 10:00PM last night with 15 hours on the bike (not counting gas breaks and eating). Pulled a trailer from North Branch MN to Denver then up to the Black Hill of North Dakota then over across the plans to Home. I met Daryle and his nice wife in Larchwood Iowa on the way out and I met BigJohn in Denver. On the way home I met OB-1 and his nice wife up in Sundance Wy, We all went out to dinner together and shot the BS. All were VERY nice people and all love bikes and especialy Ventures. So whats not to like????? I spent a day hacking around the Black Hills, saw Mount Rushmore, drove the canyon (not to miss) but unfortunatly didn't get to the Neddles canyon and where ever the buffalo are. Sorry I didn't call OB-1 to go for a ride for the day but I just hacked around locally and was going here and there without a real plan. I was fortunate that I never really hit rain on the way out or on the way back, some sprinkles but no out and out rain. Well I take that back, while I was visiting with Daryle and his wife I rained like cats and dogs but since I was visiting and indoors I didn't count that. It cleared and I was able to get another 100 miles on before calling it a day. All the way out and all the way back no matter who I talked to, biker, shop keeper, cagers, cashiers they were all just great, friendly and polite. EXCEPT the one cashier in Cheyene WY that had a personality of of a cornered bobcat with someone poking it with a stick. I finally had enough of her being rude to all the customers ahead of me and when she pulled that crap on me I told her she needed to get a personality. As I walked away I mumbled to myself what a B!tch, I thought I heard from behind " I heard that". While I hope she did mabey she will get a handle on waiting on people. Yes I know it can be a SOB dealing with people all day but she needed to treat people a whloe lot better. OH YA! the equipment failure....... Well.... when I was in Nebraska getting lost I noticed that my rear tire was looking thin so when I got to Denver I had it replaced at Coyote Yamaha. they put on a Dunlope 404 and the bonus was the whine from the original tire disapeared to. But that wasn't the failure........ the failure was while in the Black hills I had to use my Strebel horn on a cager. Well it sounded ok for a split second or so then it sounded like it was being strangled (and still does) I havn't used it much and am diasapointed that a failure of this type occurs after a less than 10 seconds total use. So thats my story and I'm sticking to it! I am spending the day recovering from yesterdays ride. Good to be back and safe riding to all who are on the road. Bubber aka Steve Stelter
