I also have to say I don't see the need to find birth parents. They mean absolutely nothing to you as far as I can see. I hope it brings you all happiness but as for me if I found out tomorrow I was adopted I would not care to look and have never understood the desire to search out complete strangers.
I have an 09 RSTD. I went from stock to Venture pillow tops to Ultimate (pushed me up on the tank) then to Russell. Just get the Russell and be done with it. Not even in the same league as far as I'm concerned.
Very cool video!! Seems like a good girl you've got there. You and your wife must have done something right. As a side note and as a fellow Michigander I'm very jealous of that trip you just took. This winter sucked and those warm desert pics you posted looked mighty inviting.
No the carbs are not what I would call easy to get to. Have to remove gas tank, lower fairings, and all the air intake system. Not technically difficult but time consuming.
Sounds like you got a good deal on the price, it's worth fixing up.
The OP was talking about running out of lean angle. I just can't imagine pulling a trailer and going into a corner that hot. The venture I had (2nd Gen) would lay over very steep and I never touched a thing. I remember getting a little hot coming off an exit ramp onto an expressway and wondered if the tires would hold and still never touched metal. I ride with a Star group and one of the guys has his RSV lowered, he will grind once in a while. I just can't see lean angle on these bikes being an issue at all. Maybe sport touring bike in his future.
I got some twinky covers from him. He also sent me a cover piece for around the clutch bleeder. (Need to get a pic up of that). He does great work. Need to get some carb covers to match the the twinky.
I had an F4 and liked it a lot. I had the vent but really couldn't see that it did much. It is nice that you can clean it with regular window cleaner and it is very scratch resistant. Windex and paper towels is what they recommend.
Ok I'll jump on board. He got exactly as he deserved. Glad he got what he had coming. That truck driver is a hero for taking that jerk off the road. I guess every time we did something stupid when we were younger we ALL should have been a grease spot on some road with no sympathy whatsoever. Happy!!
I too am a professional driver of over 36 yrs and millions of miles and I make part of my decision on pulling out in front of someone based on their speed. Again speed played a huge factor in this but I get tired of the biased against crotch rockets I see on this board and others all the time. You can't totally absolve the p/u driver in this. I bet if the guy in question had been riding a RSV we would see a different angle on these posts.
I think I still have mine laying in the garage. Took them off when I bought the bike to put Flanders bar on. They are brand new. I'll check when I get home tonight.

I heard on a news break this past week that red light cameras may soon be a thing of the past nation wide. They never gave the rest of the story so I'm not sure why.
I've sat on a couple Voyagers, too cramped up for tall guys. The Victory CCT feels great. I'm afraid to test ride one for fear of coming home with a new bike payment.
