  1. Apparently Nextdoor is not available outside the US.
  2. That's a great idea I'm taking to my new neighborhood. We are moving end of Nov. Nice place, not so nice area. High crime rate. Unfortunately I'm losing my garage and will only have a carport and a shed. Shed is big enuf to get the scoot in but access is difficult, especially getting it out. So, parking the scoot in the carport is the only option. Bought a security camera system, motorcycle alarm system, and caliper lock. Neighbors are all older, retired folk and they do keep a close watch. Having such a website seems like a good idea for this area. That said, talking with current owner and a couple of the neighbors, there hasn't been many incidents in this particular community which consists of appx 100 homes.
  3. Totally agree! I've also ridden it a few times (both ways) and it's much better going south simply because you can pull off much easier.
  4. hahaha ... I get the same from my wife ... and I respond pretty much the same. I blew almost $600 on a pair of mufflers without saying anything (asking) ... then I had to do some "sukkin up" when she confronted me over what I "told her" I paid ... (which of course was somewhat less) LOL
  5. hmmmmmm... sounds like my Victory when it was stock ...
  6. Pete, thanks for posting that. It was great to sit here at my computer and go for a ride in the comfort of my home while it's peeeing rain outside! Enjoyed your commentary too. Without that, it could have been a boring vid LOL
  7. Guess I'd better look into this as I have a 2005 Silverado and from the looks of it, the spare has never been removed since new !!
  8. Tell the truth Brian, selecting 2x speed on a vid is the ONLY way a 2nd gen can go fast :stickpoke: ps, nice vid and your bike sounds great!
  9. There's no evidence it was you on that scoot but if it was, you've lived up to your nick name LOL ! :stickpoke:
  10. Just a couple comments from the Victory forum. Thought you might be interested.
  11. Let's see some vids or stills of y'all "in action" on your scoot. Here's me 2 months after I bought the CCT
  12. And why does that concern you? Certainly wouldn't concern me.
  13. You should have bet ... then pointed to the piece of paper ... on the floor (anything on the floor) ...
  14. You're very welcome sir! I wish you good luck no matter what brand you decide to go with. Hey, here's an idea ... why not hold off until Yamaha releases their new model (the one that will replace the Venture ... if they ever do that is).
  15. and I was just poking fun (as shown at the bottom of my post).
  16. My comment was directed to anyone, not you specifically although I did quote your words. Parts, to my knowledge, are not "un available". Further, there are many, many factory and third party accessories and new ones are coming out regularly. There are small companies dedicated to building and selling Vic accessories as well as custom engine parts and builders for nothing else but Victory. Back ordered parts are common everywhere. It's the "sign of the times" and it solely depends on what that part is. You can get left "sitting awhile" with any bike make. No, you won't see too many Vics with high mileage simply because they haven't been around that long and didn't really get into the touring market until what... 2008 or 9 when the Vision came out. Before that their models were cruisers. Now how many cruisers do you see with high mileage? That said, there are a few Vic owners I know of with over 100,000 trouble-free miles. Guys, I "get it" ... but if you live your life a skeptic, you're not gonna "live".
  17. sheeesh! You can go to any motorcycle forum and hear horror stories about dealers ... heck, you can read them right here in this forum! c'mon ... sounds like a lame excuse to me to rule out buying a bike just because of some bad experience with a dealer or a person representing a company. (sorry, had to say it)
  18. I'll quote it to victoryforums.com
  19. Interesting .... did you post this on a Victory forum? If not, I will do it for you. I'd be interested in reading the response (if you get one). Keep in mind the saying "don't let one bad apple spoil the basket".
  20. ya snooze, ya loose ... I just bought it!
  21. Yes, the engine sounds are noticeable. In fact, in the beginning it sounded like there was a lot of valve train slop or something. Thought there was something wrong... but that's the way they are and in time, I got used to it and now, don't even realize those sounds exist. 'Course, a pair of D&D mufflers might have something to do with that LOL You'll also notice it's quite "clunky" when shifting In time, that quietens down and about the only time you hear it is going into 1st or 2nd. Totally normal. The tranny is very solid, straight cut gears with helical gears between primary and secondary shaft. Also, you can't shift these bikes like many others during the downshift. It's ok going down to 5th or 4th but blipping the gas going down to 3rd, 2nd, 1st ... especially 1st, the computer seems to think the engine is "running away" and will sometimes simply shut down. Once I knew about that, I never blip the gas going down to those gears anymore. Just a simple "re-programming" of my own habit is the cure. As for the gear indicator, yes, it does tend to fool ya if you rely on it. If the clutch is in, it shows no gear so, you don't actually see what gear you're in until you let the clutch out. To be honest, most other bikes I've ridden never had a gear indicator so I don't really pay that much attention to what it's displaying. I can tell from the rpm's, speed, and engine sound pretty much what gear I'm in. I've also found myself taking off in 2nd gear a few times with no stalling or lugging. If you've got a hankerin to own one of these bikes, don't let a crappy dealer stop ya. Where I bought mine, the guys are fantastic and whenever I drop in to the shop, they all remember me, say "hi, how ya dooin? How's the bike? blah blah..." and when I need something done, they've always been super accommodating. (maybe it's a Canadian thing,,, )
  22. I would not buy another RSV no matter what year it is. Even if they come out with a 2015 model that just rocks ... I simply could not afford that. Kinda blew the budget on this Victory and just 2 weeks ago, bought a house so there went all our savings (almost). If I were to sell the Vic due to financial reason's but still had some cash and wanted another scoot, I would probably buy a 1st gen. While I liked my RSMV for some things, both of my 1st gens were a better bike IMO.
  23. Curious, how does that compare to other months or years? Are we increasing, decreasing, or staying basically the same?
  24. The topic is "what do you love most about riding" Wrenching is not riding Two things I love most are a) the feeling of "escaping" from the daily routine. b) the adrenalin rush when I crack the throttle and wind it out to the max. c) the people I meet along the way that only riding a motorcycle brings. oh, that was three, wasn't it
  25. Doc told me my cholesterol was a "tad" on the high side. I told him it was that way 10 years ago yet I've changed my diet considerably since then. He said I'd have to drastically change it over a long period of time in order to have any real effect ... he gave me some pills. I hate pills!
