  1. That's how it USED to be for me... when I was younger and dumber. (dumber? did I just imply I am dumb but not as dumb as I was? LOL) Now I look at cash flow and how quick I can pay it off / be free of the debt without committing to a fixed monthly payment that would be out of reach if our cash flow got cut in half or worse. So, I commit to a realistic payment based on a very minimum cash flow and then shove a ton of extra money towards the loan when I can with the plan to pay it off as quick as I can.

  13. When I bought my 2006 RSMV in the fall of 2008, I paid $12,500 for it. At that time it had 1,297 Kilometers on it and balance of factory warranty. We're now 6 years later. Just seems ridikulus (on purpose sp mistake) that dealers around here seem to feel they can ask so much for some things. That said, there's a sukker born every minute and that dealer is prolly hopin one of 'em will walk thru their door LOL
  14. Saw a 2005 RSMV listed for sale at a local dealer. Nothing special about the bike, few extras like passing lamps, trunk rack, etc. Listed price was $11,999.00 I sent an email wishing them luck!
  15. Filled up the truck last night and was surprised to see the price has dropped below a buck a Litre. Yep! $0.99 / Litre That's like $4.50/Gal Imperial or $3.75/Gal US Last summer we saw prices as high as $1.52/Litre or $6.91/Gal Imperial ... $5.70/Gal US Hope it stays or even drops more.
  16. Well that sux ... sorta. Hope you got some kind of severance. I'm grateful I have a good position with a company that doesn't want to see me go so I keep extending my retirement date. Besides, might as well keep working and bringing in the bucks as long as I'm able to.
  17. If a guy could take both gears then it probably would. That said, who says the 1st gen's didn't? My 85 had a helluva whine between 2900 and 3100 rpm and I'm certain it was the clutch basket gears, just like the 2nd gens.
  18. That's what they (the dealer) put in mine the first go-round (was supposed to be an 'I'). It made no difference so I pulled it to check ... sure enuf, it wasn't an 'I' so I made them get me an 'I' but I put it in myself coz I already had it apart.
  19. You can get a pic in post #14 of this thread... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/watering-hole/42428-clutch-basket-pic.html?highlight=basket
  20. It's on the outer edge, near the gears. Not sure if it's on the inside or outside.
  21. I bought a battery tender last fall ... used it on my son's bike for a while. Since the move, it's now just sitting on my work bench. Temps went down to around minus 5 (celcius) a few days back and that's the second time since end of Nov but mostly it's been between +5 and +10 around here so don't really feel the need to hook up the battery tender ... never had to before, bike always started.
  22. I'm afraid to answer that question as it would expose my "inner self"
