  1. Water cooled or air cooled is somewhat irrelevant. Most of the heat we feel on these V-twins (HD, Kaw, Vic) is coming off the exhaust header pipes and as you pointed out, with cats removed there's appx 200 degree drop in temp and that is not engine temp, it's heat from the exhaust header pipes. I removed my cats and immediately noticed a big difference. Due to the positioning of them on the Vic, the passenger actually gets the brunt of the heat on their right foot and leg. Not so much with cats removed.
  2. Maybe Don should change his nickname to AVIS ("we try harder")
  3. Thanks Don, your sarcasm cracked me up and made my day! FWIW tho, you have every right to say what you said! We are not kids here and we should not have to be spoon fed or hand held.
  4. It was like this one... I fried the engine on it less than a month after I bought it. I guess riding 2-up at freeway speeds was just too much for it LOL. Good thing it was covered under warranty. Same dealer sold Triumph and I wanted a 650 Bonneville but the bank wouldn't go for it at the time.
  5. Well, I did some diggin but could only find a pic of my 4th bike. First 3 were 1969 Yamaha 125 twin, 1972 Triumph 650 Bonneville, 197? Honda 500-4 (which I choppered)... then I got this Honda 750 stock and added the fairing and bags and paint work.
  6. I tried various mufflers on my '06 RSMV ... never could really get the sound I wanted. Got a set of D&D mufflers on my Vic ... now THAT sounds like I want it to! Not too loud, a nice rumble while cruisin and a noticeable rap when I get on it. Could have something to do with V-twin vs V-4 That said tho, I had a set of Cobra mufflers and Torq-Tubes on my Wing and it sounded great.
  7. One certainly wouldn't want to loose any torque on a Harley
  8. Remapping is gonna help for sure. Vic's have a similar issue in that they come too lean from factory. Gut the cats, add hi-flow air filter, set of performance mufflers, Power Commander and a dyno tune makes a TON of difference not only in dealing with the heat issue but increasing power (not that they need it )
  9. Local LEOs have been out in force this week nabbing distracted drivers. I observed a motorcycle cop catch a young lady talking or texting on her cell phone yesterday. She was actually behind him as they were stopped for a traffic light and he saw her in his mirror. How dumb can someone be to think they can't be seen if they're behind the cop? DOH!
  10. I recently picked a new primary care doctor. After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, she said I was doing fairly well for my age. (I am past 60). A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking her, 'Do you think I'll live to be 90?' She asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco or drink beer, wine or hard liquor?' 'Oh Yes,' I replied. 'And I smoke marijuana regularly too!' Then she asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?' 'I said, 'Almost every day ... it's my favorite food!' 'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, boating, sailing, hiking, or bicycling or ride a motorcycle?' 'Yep, all of those as often as I can,' I said. She asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?' 'Yes, and especially the sex ... at least once a day,' I said... She looked at me and said, 'Then, since you're not dead now, you have nothing to worry about!'
  11. I got hooked when I was 10 and my cousin, who was 18, took me for a ride on his '52 Harley. Bought my 1st bike in 1969. A new Yamaha 125 twin. By that time, I'd ridden various other's bikes.
  12. ... and snuggling isn't the only "opportunity" a man should take advantage of when he gets old ...
  13. Notice the words on the trailer in the background... TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM LOL!!!
  14. oh c'mon ... say it!
  15. Seems I heard they made some changes in either 2011 or 2012 to address the heat issue. Wife and I took one for a ride when they came out in 2009. She felt she didn't have enough room. I like the style of the bike but also feel their plastics are too thin. Side bag latches seemed poorly designed. I haven't taken a close look at them for a few years.
  16. nahhhhhhh.... they will mimic the Victory line ....
  17. The new Valk is about as fugly as a Victory Vision ... actually, fuglier. Personally I don't care for the design ideas Honda is coming out with on some of their bikes.
  18. http://www.bcferries.com/files/fares/pdf_format/BCF_Fares.pdf Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay (Vancouver to Victoria) Looks like $26.25 for the bike and $16.25 for rider plus taxes one way.
  19. Forecast for Vancouver ... I know what I'll be doing this weekend
  20. I also have a PS3 and GTA5. Don't play it very often anymore... when I get in the mood and that's usually in Winter around Christmas. Also have Red Dead Redemption, Cabella's Big Game Hunter, IL-2 Sturmovik plus a few others that I don't play. I mostly enjoy flight simulation or air combat, car or motorcycle racing. I have a PC game called Apache AH-64 Air Assault. Played that a lot a few years back and really enjoyed it. We recently moved and all my PS3 stuff is boxed up and probably won't see action again for the rest of this year.
  21. Test of smilie :D;)   Change font here ---> insert smilie here ---> Type text first and select | change font, then insert smilie So it appears that if you change the font before typing text, then insert smilie, you get the ""
  22. Wife and I were out riding for about 4.5 hours yesterday. Clear skies and temps around +13 celcius ... it was grrrrrreat!
  23. Did you watch the vid to the end?
  24. It could be this ... (watch to the end)
  25. I've yet to see one of these in person but I'm really itchin for a chance to demo them. Over on the Vic forum there's a number of guys who've bought a new Indian and by all accounts, they're very happy. Youtube has several vids about them and Jay Leno does a real good review.
