THIRTY ???? c'mon, it was never less than 45 !! LOL Actually, smoking or not, I like stopping at least after an hour or so. -
BTW, your link doesn't work because it should be http://deerscreamer.com/

I've occasionally mounted those little "deer whistles" on my bikes and vehicles. I have never hit a deer so therefore, they MUST WORK .....

It would seem some smokers stink while other's don't. I've had some people (non smokers) over the years seem surprised that I smoked because they could not smell it on me. On the other hand, I've been around some other smokers that even I could smell it on some them. -
Heck, I live in Canada and here on the "Wet" coast, there's rarely a month goes by that doesn't allow us to ride, if even for a day. There's several folks who ride almost every day around here except when it snows, which usually doesn't last longer than a week, if it snows at all. That said, I generally stop riding around mid October and the earliest I've gone for a ride after the New Year is late January so I do tend to do some winterizing by filling the tank and adding a can of Seafoam. I'll generally start and run the bike at least once every couple weeks or so ... maybe do a short run around the block a couple times. The temps don't go below zero very often around here.

spoken from experience no doubt ...

I know you don't want to admit it but I'd guess you were running Slick 50 oil treatment in order for that to happen! LOL

It is when a guy (like me) sees he's posted in it but has no recollection of doing it.

I forgot to mention ... if I get anywhere near someone who is smoking I almost gag. Can't stand the smell ... will never go back to smoking, hated the smell even when I was smoking. -
While I was heading home from Venture West Yreka this past summer, I happened to stop at a "Vap" shop in Florence, OR and bought one of those e-Cigs aka Vap. Didn't do much with it right away but I'd been "fighting" with myself for quite a long time over the idea of quitting smoking. Well, I think I'm finally "smoke free"! I went "cold turkey" right after the July long weekend and haven't had a smoke since. The Vap has helped me immensely as it allows me to do the "habit" thing without the effects. I don't use it much anymore and today I ran out of Vap oil so for the rest of today, and maybe even from now on, I'll go without using it. I quit once for 8 months back around 1998 or so but basically I have been smoking regularly for almost 55 years. Luckily I'm not all clogged up in my lungs like some get nor do I have any signs of cancer. Nina, my wife, has been smoke free for over 5 years now. She's very glad that I've finally kicked the habit. What's different now.... I have more energy I sleep better Food has a slightly different taste, generally better. I don't miss out on things that take place while I've been "out for a smoke". :dancefool:

This depends on where we are. My first ride this year was Jan 31st. I rode at least 3 weekends in Feb, prolly the same in March and from then on, just about every weekend until I parked it 2 weeks ago. And I can only ride on weekends. I put an average of 12,000 km's /yr on my bike and that's down a lot from a few years ago. Probably not a lot compared to those who ride almost every day "down south" but still, I haven't had a break down and I've rarely seen anyone else broken down. Guess I'm just "lucky". Having said that, I see some guys riding every day, rain or shine ... and sometimes even when it's snowed but that's pretty rare around here. Only snow I've seen since way back around xMas 2013 was appx 3" that fell overnight Nov 28th, 2014. It was all melted by Nov 30th. I recall that distinctly coz Nov 29th was the day we moved to our new place LOL!

Such comments always seem to be made as a negative thing against certain brands. The problem with that is, it's a very big IF. In all my years of riding I can only recall one time breaking down and that was in 1975 riding a 1972 Triumph. Now, there was ZERO dealers within a thousand miles but it didn't matter coz I was able to fix it myself. Insofar as "lack of dealers", while there may be some truth to that, bikes are bikes and quite often the "break down" a person has can be fixed by many others so really, that comment is seriously lacking any basis IMO.

@notlostnow FYI, the most recent post to your's was 2007 (just sayin... )

What is your winter project for this year?
SilvrT replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
Spare room project: Rip out the cabinets the PO installed. Install a door to the rear yard from within this room (currently only have front and side doors). Build a Murphy bed for the room. Build a "hide-away" TV / entertainment unit within the Murphy bed so it can be used when bed is not. Remove a short wall and re-design coat closet. Install / wire an outside plug near the front of the house. Sorry, bikes don't need anything. Project will begin right after New Year. -
First of all, you are one wild and crazy guy!! LOL As for "ripping around a track" in a NASCAR car or, perhaps a Formula 1 race car, or even a F-18 fighter jet .... I'd be first in line!! My most recent PC game is Strike Fighters 2 ... Having some fun with that! Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet Multirole fighter The Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet and related twin-seat F/A-18F are twin-engine carrier-capable multirole fighter aircraft variants based on the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. heck, I just fire up my PS3, jump into any race car I want, any where I want, and have a blast for hours on end and it cost me nothing!

Hope this displays on your screen...

Keep this up and you'll wake 'em!

StarFan is being offered a new old car-what should he do ?
SilvrT replied to StarFan's topic in Watering Hole
Something I regularly do when typing a "lengthy" post or otherwise is I'll press Ctrl+A (select all) then Ctrl+C (copy) ... that way if the page freezes or crashes or whatevah ... most, if not all, of what I was typing is in the Windows clipboard and I can simply Paste it and carry on.... -
WARNING! This might be "border-line" PG rated.... One day in the future, Barack Obama has a heart-attack and dies. He immediately goes to hell, where the devil is waiting for him. "I don't know what to do here," says the devil. "You are on my list, but I have no room for you. You definitely have to stay here, so I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I've got a couple of folks here who weren't quite as bad as you. I'll let one of them go, but you have to take their place. I'll even let YOU decide who leaves." Obama thought that sounded pretty good, so the devil opened the door to the first room. In it was Ted Kennedy and a large pool of water. Ted kept diving in, and surfacing, empty handed. Over, and over, and over he dived in and surfaced with nothing. Such was his fate in hell. "No," Obama said. "I don't think so. I'm not a good swimmer, and I don't think I could do that all day long." The devil led him to the door of the next room. In it was Al Gore with a sledge-hammer and a room full of rocks. All he did was swing that hammer, time after time after time. "No, this is no good; I've got this problem with my shoulder. I would be in constant agony if all I could do was break rocks all day," commented Obama. The devil opened a third door. Through it, Obama saw Bill Clinton, lying on the bed, his arms tied over his head, and his legs restrained in a spread-eagle pose. Bent over him was Monica Lewinsky, doing what she does best. Obama looked at this in shocked disbelief, and finally said, "Yeah man, I can handle this." The devil smiled and said........... (This is priceless...) "OK, Monica, you're free to go."

How true! When I had my '03 which was equipped with Traxxion suspension, I could push that bike in the twisties much harder than any other "touring" style bike I've ever owned.
-
That's pretty much what happened to me when I bought mine in 2013 LOL. All I can say after 3 summers riding it and 36,000 kilometers is it's a pretty impressive bike. Like any other bike, it has it's "quirks" but nothing a person can't deal with. As far as mechanical issues, there haven't been any and I know of a few guys with over 100k without any problems.

yup ... I've upgraded my brain so many times it's about to explode! This is why we get Alzheimer's ... there's so much information floating around in there, we can't find what we're looking for anymore.
