Wishing all my VR family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I've had two of them .... Some background for the first. My 1st wife and I had a son. She and I split when he was 1.5 yrs old. I never got to see him again until ..... around 2001 I found out where his mom lived and I sent her a letter inquiring about our son. She gave the letter to him and just before Christmas that year he contacted me, told me he had been wondering about my whereabouts for several years and in January 2002 we met for the first time. He was then 32 yrs old. We have been as close as a father and son could ever be since then. We get together almost every other week. I'm now married to 3rd wife who has 3 grown kids and we all are like one big happy family! Connecting with my son is the absolute best thing that has ever happened to me in my life ... it just so happened to occur at Christmas. Now the second. I was raised by my mom and stepdad from 8 yrs old thru to 15 when they separated. I again spent time with him between 19 - 21. We parted ways and I never saw or heard of him since. That was 47 years ago. Just 2 days ago I made contact with his wife and learned of his passing 14 years ago. While I am saddened by that, I at least now have a connection to him and am eager to learn more about him and his life since I last saw him.

Unrelated response to your Q but how is it that you're ending up with URL links to images (smileys)? Instead of them being embedded in your post? I've seen this in your other posts as well. Anyone got an answer? -
@Flyinfool Jeff, that's what happens when folks kick themselves in the arse! (j/k) ... hope you get back to 100% and your recovery is quick and smooth! As for the above comment, I should be safe now since I've gone beyond "middle age" LOL

@Leftcoaster ... there's a few of us from this area as well as a few who are no longer members but still ride Ventures from around here. One of these days we should all get together for a M&E ... maybe sometime before Kruis'n the Kootenays rally (and yes, I am still working on that).

As soon as I get mine pee-pad trained, that's the next one !

Two heads are oftentimes better than one (in this case doctors). Glad you found "the" one that solved the problem. Wishing you both all the best! -
Only 48 here (9 celcius) but it's sunny and if I wasn't working, I'd be riding. Big weather front coming in for the weekend so no chance then

I took typing in grade 9 for 2 reason's ... 1.) I was too small to make it on the football team and 2.) coz that's where all the girls went. Which one do you think is true? Anyway, I could do 45 wpm then and since around the age of 25 I've been using either a typewriter, telex machine, or computer pretty much ever since. Not to mention I've even taught typing classes LOL But that doesn't make me a fast typist by a long shot and problem I have now is that the signals from my brain to my fingers get crossed somewhere along the way and letters in words get revresed As for "thumb typing" .... not a hope in he||
-
@cowpuc man oh man you can tell a story ... but I wonder, how fast can you type? Are you a two index finger typist or do you use all of 'em? Most of your posts are quite lengthy and that's a lotta typin! So it made me wonder

Doing first oil change on my "new to me" '06 RSMV. Got the oil draining, decided to have a beer and do some polishing, this after already having a few beers. Finished the beer and the polishing and went to get the oil filter off. It wouldn't budge. Tried every trick I knew to no avail. Decided to drill a big hole through it and use a round bar thru the hole for leverage. That worked! Put a new filter on, had another beer, added the oil, did some more polishing and then decided to get rid of the old oil from the pan. Got all the oil disposed of but to my HORROR there were metal filings in the bottom! OMG I thought, There's something MAJOR wrong with this engine! I was really in a frightful panic for a few minutes ... and then I realized... it was the filings from drilling the hole in the filter! How embarrassing ... yet nobody else was there to witness it! Was it the beer that clouded my memory? LOL

We used to do a gift exchange game. Everyone brought a gift of some sort (generally based on a 'theme') and then we'd play a game ... drawing numbers. Everyone wound up with something but not necessarily something they might want due to how the game is played. This year we've decided to take the money that we would have spent (usually max $50 each) and donate it all to a charity that helps the homeless each Christmas. There's 12 of us in the family so that adds up to about $600. Now we''l only buy gifts for the kiddies who are all under 9 yrs old. I'm sure each couple will buy something for each other though. Nina and I got a pup. 8 week old PooChi

That title is deceiving ! -
I use the Stratus model. I mount mine using a flat-topped (generally used for a camera) RAM mount. The docking station is glued to the flat top with the ball mount from the Sirius kit. I built a bracket for the antenna that is mounted to my Sat Radio mount on the other side of the handlebar. I ran the satellite feed from the Radio down the left handlebar, into the inside of the fairing and back up to the bracket on the right handlebar. Only problem I've found is over time the radio contacts with the docking station loose connectivity and require a squirt of electrical contact cleaner. Didn't get a chance to look for my pics last night but will over the weekend. This is how I do it on my Victory. On my RSMV, I used the dash vent mounting bracket from the kit, clipped it to the speaker grille and held it there with a couple small zip ties. Worked great.

underwear????? you mean those things called speedos?? -
Get a universal auto mount and mount your radio to the bike. Get a "Y" splitter cord and tie that into your amp ... then get an extension cord for that and run that to your radio NOTE: you can also sync with an unused FM station instead of the above. Mount the 12v - 5v convertor behind the fairing and run the cable to the radio. You can wire that into the Aux power outlet behind the fairing. You can then listen to the Sirius thru the AUX setting of your stereo. I have some pics somewhere ... when I get a chance I'll find and post them of what I did.

hahaha ... she might disagree .... but then again, maybe not
