Gear Whine-Final Result-25 percent better.

I don't have this so-called whine primarilly because I ride a 1st gen! All kidding aside though, both my 1st gen's have their own bothersome sounds .... the 85 had a real bad whine at a certain rpm range (I think it was 2900-3000) regardless of what the speed was. My 87 has a deceleration whine. My Gold Wing ('83) had a rear end whine. I've come to the realization that regardless of the bike, there's always going to be some kind of bothersome sound simply because all of the mechanical components are out in the open. The best way I found to overcome these bothersome sounds is... a) put on louder pipes -or- b) wear a 3/4 helmet that covers your ears -or- c) crank the tunes up -or- d) put ear plugs in. Methods c & d being the least expensive. -
Clutch Whine-One last question
SilvrT replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
In defense of my statement, I was never a supporter of slick 50. Back in the day when the product was being pushed by everyone's next door neighbor, I generally scoffed at their "claims". I mentioned "slick 50" because it was the first thing that came to mind. (a testament of their advertising LOL). I did google it and was very suprised to find that it was manufactured by Quacker State, a company who's oil was always highly respected and widely used. This thread is very interesting and it never ceases to amaze me the wealth of knowledge such threads can provide. ps, do y'all like MY FONT? -
Clutch Whine-One last question
SilvrT replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'd still think a multi-viscosity oil would be best; however, possibly a 20w50 weight or maybe some kind of additive such as slick 50 or the like. If only the tranny's were separate from the crankcase eh... -
I don't know about others but mine consists of a hole reamer, a plug tool, some plugs, and some plug cement. All of which are available at places like Canadian Tire, Walmart, etc. Oh yea, and a bottle of RideOn. Speaking of RideOn, when I had my tire replaced, the guy at the shop was a little PO'd that I didn't tell him about it. Apparently it splats all over when they break the bead and remove the tire! Said had he known, he would have put rags around.

and that was on a 20% grade...with a tailwind to boot :D
-
If you wind her out side-by-side with a 1st gen, when you can't go any faster and the 1st gen is showin you his taillights, then that's as fast as an RSV can go! :rotf::witch_brew:

That sure sounds inviting! Unfortunately, I've used up all my holiday time so the only other option is to quit my job, retire, rack up my credit cards, and head on out (yeahsureright!).

That's great! I don't mean to "rain on your parade" but... that sorta reminds me of the time I was coaching Bantam league softball... my team won first place in our division... the deal was tho... we were the only team in "that division"! LOL I cherish that trophy to this day.

ahhhhhhhh whatever would we do if it weren't for Ontario? :witch_brew:

They will have as much luck proving collusion amongst the automakers as they do (did) with the oil companies... Now I wonder how much of our TAX DOLLARS are being squandered on this?
-
speaking about taxes, I heard the Tax department is running out of ideas on what next to tax us on. Someone came up with the bright idea of a "peter" tax. Size would dictate (no pun intended) the amount of tax. Lucky for me, I'll be in the lower tax bracket! :rotf:

A very interesting read. My neighbor just recently bought a new Toyota truck. He saved over $8000 by purchasing in US. After reading that thread and what my neighbor told me, all the more reason to SERIOUSLY consider purchasing my next "yammie" south of the border.
-
Well I'm sure this will open up a "debatable can of worms" but... I believe if anyone checks the statistics, they will quickly see that, in comparison to the USA, the above statement is totally blatant. The median household income in the US is higher than that of Canada while at the same time, the cost of many things in Canada is much higher. What that equates to, to me, is that in general, folks in the US have more money to spend. :witch_brew:

So-called "get rich" schemes. Here's one... http://www.secret-biz.com/bhmacdonald?gclid=CLTs0qPI5I4CFQ-1YgodKk9vPw There are lots of them out there. I've checked a few out, even tried a couple. Concepts seemed viable...but I gave up (too soon maybe?). Does anyone know anyone who actually "made it big" in any of these so-called "schemes"? They always show "success stories" but I'd sure like to speak directly to a real one if for nothing else but to prove to myself that not all of these are SCAMS.
-
THAT is VERY GOOD. I emailed that to all in my address book with a request for them to send it to all in theirs. THAT is one piece of "chain mail" I will promote.
-
dang... my eyes are goin on me... I thought it said "retarded" so I came in here..... no, NOT retired...yet! Frankly, unlike many folks but like many too, I never planned for retirement so I guess I'll not be retiring. I will; however, collect any retirement income (Canada Pension Plan) I have coming to me. What a crock that is eh? It's gotta be the lowest paying insurance scheme there is going. And "scheme" is an understatement...we are forced to pay into it all our working lives and when we collect, we get below poverty payments and they find every way they can to deduct from it. Meanwhile, they squander it away on poor investments almost to the point that there isn't any left to pay out. ggrrrrrrrrrrrrr here I go again.... no hair on back of neck gettin raised.
-
DITTO ALL OF THE ABOVE! And I won't say any more coz I can feel the hair on my neck starting to stand up (and I don't have any hair there).
-
Eck... what the h eck is that on your left handlebar?

my wife has one that might fit......... :rotf::rotf:
