  1. I doubt I'll have any issues with that. I'm a "small boned" person with a high metabolism. I've nver weighed more than 165 in my entire life and generally have been at 150-155 since I was in my teens. When I got to 165, I was 35, working in a sawmill piling green lumber and eating like 2 horses plus, I was working out regularly.
  2. KINKY!!! LOL Actually, I stopped for about 8 month's back in 1999. Did the pill / patch thing. Yes, the first week or so were tough but I was determined... just like I am now... and after not a very long time, I was quite ok with it. As of my current age, I have been smoking for 46 years. Gawd!!!! that's sickening! And yes, they say quitting smoking, especially after you've been doing it for many years, is harder than kicking any such habit. So, having said that, why do we have all these "goody-goody's" setting up "safe shoot up" clinics for all the druggies instead of getting them off the drugs? (oh no...another political subject...forget I mentioned it)
  3. Thanks!!! ... the savings will go towards buying a new scoot (prolly a 2nd gen! Now, I know I will get ribbed about this!) wwoooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
  4. I know this is a forum for topics related to motorcycles -but- seems there's a lot more of just plain old "communication" going on as well so..... I'm quitting smoking! I have set a "butt out" date of next Tuesday. I am on the pills (there's a new product out now) and I've reduced my smoking from a pack a day to less than 1/2 pack a day within 2 weeks. Anyone out there gone through this or going through this? Any comments / suggestions / or just plain old "communicating" about it you'd like to post?
  5. I was married to my 2nd wife for 28 years. One of the problems about "growing on each other" is that if and/or when you discover that, even though there's love between you, you're holding each other back from being who you really are, it's extremely difficult to face the reality that going your separate ways is the best thing for both. It took 5 years of those 28 for us to face up to that. We're now divorced, good friends, and very happy in our own separate lives. She lives alone and likes it that way, I've remarried. For those who go 25, 30, or more years together and are still happy...truly happy... congrats to you all! It's a rare thing nowadays.
  6. Canada doesn't appear on their list of international packages. I'm pretty certain the CRTC (Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission) is controlling this. From my perspective, it limits the amount of competition and such things that are government controlled this way are but one of the reason's many things in Canada cost more. But, now we're into politics and we don't want to go there....so, let's not!
  7. As for satellite TV, we have 2 legally authorized providers (I believe this is still correct). StarChoice & ExpressVue. Unfortunately, Canada isn't as "open" as the USA. Anyone can correct me on this if I'm out of date. Cable TV providers is as bad. I may be wrong but I believe there are only 2 providers in this area and 1 of them only services certain locations.
  8. This came across my desk from a co-worker who got it from the Director of Information Services at ****** (not at liberty to disclose) ... Just a "heads up"...and I don't have the attachment(s) referred to... Ebay fraud (Phishing Scam) - please refer to the attached email seen below .......... I am passing along this attempted email fraud (phishing expedition) onto "All Subscribers" such that all are made aware of the types of email frauds that one may receive. This particular one is an an attempt being made to fool one into divulging their personal information. In the following attachment letter 'invoice' seen below, it indicates to the receiver that they have purchased an item from eBay. By clicking on the link - it brings you to a 'look alike' eBay page where it requests that you enter your eBay Username and Password. Once you do this, the scammers, store this information and now have access to your eBay account where they can buy and sell under your name, leaving you to clean up the mess. In addition they most lilley will harvest any monies in your PayPal account if they can get that as well. It is interesting to note that if you click on the Link in the attachment below 'Guess Red Signs Handbag Purse & ........ it links to: http://www.traveldelhi.com/ufiles/default.htm?213rjceirjqexr98rdlkmsanch frinvc58ucrdjkxnerimjgtmxkjnzmhrugt45ncoirehviuhtrckm45x You will notice that address above denotes www.traveldelhi.com It is a web site located in India - IT DOES NOT SAY 'eBay'. When you click on a link of anything you may feel is suspicious - it is advisable "LOOK" to see what site it is really referencing. In this case it is not www.ebay.com So please be cautious when receiving any such emails - when in doubt- do not to click on the link - but simply bring up your Browser and enter the address such as www.ebay.com and check things out that way.
  9. HA!!!... not around here. $488 for a basic HD "box" plus additional $29.95/month for basic HD TV channels and for about $40/month, I can get the whole enchalada (all available HD channels)! And, I believe this is ON TOP of what you already pay for regular cable TV.
  10. Thanks for verifying my own "thoughts" about this. I have also discovered that having an HD "box" will improve the quality of non-HD channels because the box can convert the analog feed into digital signal which the HDTV works best on.
  11. I read through a few threads but couldn't come up with the specific answer although I'm pretty sure what the answer is, just need someone to verify my thoughts. HD TV .... does not need HD cable feed for TV...can use standard "cable TV" ... correct? 'nuther question... when viewing standard cable TV feed, is the clarity of the picture as good as or less than that of a non HD TV?
  12. I'd think you'd have to look into your local by-laws for that. In any event, that really sucks. We have a "town" near here that is quite popular with tourists and locals alike as the main "strip" is right on the beach. Lots of clubs, dining, picknicking, shopping,.... They have actually put in smaller parking spots just for motorcycles. Of course, 2 of those spots make up 1 regular car spot. And yes, each have it's own meter.
  13. Once they refine those "quads", they'll produce this....
  14. geeeesshhhhhh.... the way these "cream puffs" are bein snatched up, there won't be any left when I'm ready! :crying: congrats on the "new" scoot... I am envious!
  15. Tools? you actually carry tools? I would have said to them "Tools? what are those? Never, ever, ever would I need tools riding a YAMAHA!"
  16. Those who Make things happen . - I proposed to my g/f Those who Watch things happen - I watched us get married through an out of body experience Those who Wonder what happened. - I wondered why the H*L I did that!
  17. Kit, you crack me up! ... I bet you say "then I'll be quiet" every post yet your's are longer than anyone's just ribbin ya!
  18. During that whole trip, I did not see any 2nd gen's .... prolly coz they knew they wouldn't be able to keep up with me so they just didn't try. :witch_brew:
  19. Good GAWD!!!!!!! that's almost 100 kilometers per hour. You musta been FLYING to maintain that average! Now, in the case of the 1st gen, was it really the bike that crapped out or the rider? It's important you know to clarify this as we don't want to be falsely implying that a 1st gen can't keep up with a 2nd gen yanno!
  20. I left Vancouver, BC at 11AM Friday, Aug 17th and was in Biggar, Sask 24 hrs later. A total of 1734 kms (1077 miles). I seriously doubt I will ever attempt that again.
  21. My feelings exactly. Sometimes we are all too quick to "point the finger".
  22. Several years ago I bought a new truck. I pulled off the freeway on an off-ramp onto a 4 lane street. Once on the street, I needed to get over into the left lane. I checked my mirrors, looked right, looked left, it was clear so I changed lanes. At the same time, I could hear a motorcycle. When I looked (mirrors, right, left, etc) I didn't see anyone. Next thing I knew, I could hear a crash...I looked again and here was this biker floped over on the center median behind me. I stopped, checked that he was ok (thank god he was) and I helped him get his bike up and back on the street. He wasn't hurt, the bike was ok. I talked with him a bit and discovered that he was a new rider. I had cut him off. He was coming up in the left lane faster than me and when I began changing lanes, he "froze"... in other words, instead of taking evasive action ie braking, etc... he just froze and hit the curb which knocked him off his bike. OK, so I screwed up because I wasn't familiar yet with my new truck's blind spot. He also screwed up coz he didn't react and brake. Thankfully again that he was ok. I immediately purchased some convex mirrors to put on my side mirrors. The point here is that in some way, we were both at fault. Now, hypothetically, if that person had somehow fallen badly, broke his neck and died.... am I a low-life? should I lose my license for life and go to jail? ...exactly what punishment should I receive which would be in addition to the guilt and memory of what I'd done which I would have for the rest of my life? ... Had he died, would anyone know of his inexperience and that instead of braking to avoid me, he "froze" and hit the curb when in reality, he had sufficient time to brake and avoid that (his own admittance)? Because of the above, I do not agree with that petition. Each and every "accident" is as individual as our fingerprints and each one has to be treated that way. We can't just globally increase the punishment "just because" someone died or "just because" it was a biker.
  23. I'm workin on that!
  24. There are a number of bikes including the 1st gen that have the mirrors mounted to the fairing which is frame mounted. Many other bikes including the 2nd gen have handlebar mounted mirrors. One thing I really like about frame mounted fairings with fairing mounted mirrors is that regardless of the direction of the front wheel, the mirrors are always showing what's directly behind. Having ridden such style of bike for a long time now, I'm wondering how easy/difficult it will be to get used to the handlebar mounted mirrors again. While there are pros and cons for both mirror styles, I feel I'd have less visibility with the handlebar mounted mirrors and since they are positioned more to the side of you than the fairing mounted ones, it causes your eyes to look further away from the center in order to see what's behind thus in effect, taking your eyes "off the road ahead" more. Anyone have thoughts/opinions about this?
  25. Fluorescent Orange ..... yeeaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
