Just my thoughts on this ..... I don't look upon it this way at all... I tell myself that I will NEVER have another smoke. That I AM a NON-smoker now. ...it's a mind-over-matter thing and at least for me, the more I phsyc (sp?) myself that way, the easier it seems to be. When I get an urge for a smoke, I just tell myself "NO... I don't smoke, I don't need a smoke, I don't want a smoke..."...and the feeling passes. And if telling myself such things aren't "cutting it", then I just come in here and say it LOL. In any event, whatever works for you...as long as it works, then it's right.

46 years for me although, I did "stop" for 8 months back in 2000. Yep, those mornings are definately the hardest. A couple good things now tho... I sleep later and find I am not rushing anymore to get ready for work.
-
GOOD for you! ... I had a tough time with that "morning smoke" most of last week. I altered my morning schedule last Monday and by Friday I was getting used to it. Since then, I really don't think about having a smoke in the AM now. Could be the Champix is helping with that. Yesterday, we went out for brekkie, I dropped into my office to deal with the time zone change screw up, and then we went for a drive...got home, had a snack and watched a movie...never even thought about smoking all day. Well, ok, I lied... I did once but got past that.

Well, we're 1 week into being non-smokers. The Champix is working to a degree; however, I do get the occasional craving for a smoke. Seems it comes not long before it's time to take my next pill... go figgure eh? LOL. The wife isn't taking anything and she's a "wee tad" more edgy than I am (edgy is a polite way of saying b*tchy lol). Had a party on Sat for my son's b/day... got slightly "overserved" on such things as rum, beer, tequila shooters, wine.... hmmmmm seems I recall having a few puffs that evening... shame on me! Last week was tough but yesterday and today are seeming much easier. The desire & determination to quit has not faded, that's for sure. Thanks to everyone who offered support and those of you in the same process as me... KEEP AT IT... don't give up!

no comment here coz this is just too controversial and borders on political, not to mention that the topic causes the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up...ggrrrrrrrrrrr

I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. A fairly large and diverse area on the west coast. We are the gateway to the southern interior of BC. There are countless things to do all within a 2 hour driving radius. BC pretty much has everything you can imagine in the way of scenery and recreation and boasts some of the best ski hills/resorts in the world and, we're becoming world renowned for our supurb wines. A few pics... (sorry if some are quite small)

I googled it and the mix is 1/2 oz bottle/tube of hardener per 1 quart primer so you'd have to do some calculations for smaller amounts. I didn't see any further instructions on their website. Guess they expect you'd use the whole quart! lol

Seein as you got the background... got a question for ya... does one have to be concerned about the cfm delivery capacity of a compressor when using a gravity feed paint gun?

Oil Filter Change
SilvrT replied to r_squared432's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
ya $hit!.. well as i'm the only one that said anything...ya GOT ME! Having said that, and based on what you say above (by pass built in), I decided to go take a look at my new filter and by golly! you're right! I never noticed it before but just inside the filter, looking from the left side, you can see a little "line" in the shape of a circle on the 4th element fold. It's sorta perforated. I did some research into this and discovered that, if the filter becomes plugged, the oil pressure will force the perforations to tear, thus blowing a hole in the side of that element fold and allowing the oil to pass thru. KEWL! -
Global warming...HA! I'm beginning to think that on a "global scale", we on the west coast got left outta the equation ....except for those unfortunate folks down in Calif... gawd I wouldn't want their weather related problems but some of that warm sun would sure be nice.

You can get AVG 7.5 free version. Only issue with it is it does tend to cause some things to load a bit slower but if you have a fast computer, you won't notice it. Mine is almost 6 yrs old I think.. AMD Athlon 1800 .. 1.53 Ghz, 512Mb RAM... this puppy still runs pretty quick & I have Windows XP, Office XP Pro, Corel Draw 9, & Visual Studio 5 loaded plus a few other smaller apps.

Oil Filter Change
SilvrT replied to r_squared432's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Factory shipping plug??? Never seen such a thing...can you elaborate? If you don't put the washer in, the spring will chew up the rubber seal on the filter and eventually push itself inside of the filter. This will cause some oil to bypass the filter. I'm thinking the purpose of the spring is to keep the filter in a "set" position, in line with the holes in the bolt as unless I'm mistaken, the oil is fed through that bolt to the inside of the filter, pushed through the filter and back into the engine. Without the spring, one or more of the holes might be on the outside of the filter seal, causing some of the oil to bypass the filter. Correct me if I'm wrong coz that's just how I see it working. -

Wife & I have next to nothing for retirement savings; however, we will be debt free and will own our car & scoot outright. We don't have a house. We plan on buying an older mobile home, parking it on a lot somewhere in the warmer part of the province, and living there for the summer. Winter we'll travel south on the bike, pulling a trailer... tenting here and there, hooking up with others and staying over here and there...maybe stopping for a week or longer and doing a bit of work for board & room... whatever. Eventually we'll get too old for that and then our kids can look after us!!

stator change
SilvrT replied to MikeM8560's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
someone somewhere in here mentioned that when you put the stator cover back on, the magnetic forces might give you a problem and to get around this, find a couple longer bolts of the same thread. Cut the heads off and finger thread them in. Use as a guide for slipping the cover on straight. -
These lights you're referring to... is this for US production coz I don't see that here in Canada...at least not on my car but then again, it is 4 yrs old so maybe things have changed since.

no need to shout!!! I can understand that...guess it takes more to give some folks peace of mind.
-
Good points you make; however, there's a lot of controversy over the bolded statement. It makes "some" logical sense to me but at the same time, couldn't those metal particles also do damage?

Squeeze... I'm surprised your still getting updates ... is that the FREE version? Seems to me they stopped providing updates for that a while ago and forced everyone to upgrade to 7.5 free. ???
