So what is "retirement" then? I'd think it is a time in your life when you are financially secure enough to not have to do anything in order to make an income to support your lifestyle. That does not mean you have to stop doing it...but you could do it at your own pace wherever and whenever you wanted to...or not at all.

I took a look at that link and IMO, that sucks. Now, are you saying that she has to add 10% to her total income for her "assumed" tips? For example, if she worked full time for the whole year, her wages would be around $14,500 (based on $6.95/hr)... does she add a minimum of 10% of that ($1450) for expected tip income?

When I did mine, all I replaced were the discs and it was fine after that... could that possibly be due to the extra thickness of the new discs giving more tension on the springs? That was on my '85 about 4 years ago but I seem to recall that the old discs didn't look all that worn out. My current ride has a Barnett clutch/springs, etc... pretty good response with it...has a tendency to "drag" at idle with clutch lever pulled in. Can pop wheelies no problem but also think I have a Vmax rear end.

hmmmmmmmm if it's called "never-dull", why do ya have to keep using it?

Not tellin ya my secrets....nosiree!!! I use Autosol on the aluminum, I use a liquid chrome cleaner...can't recall what it's called...same stuff I've been using on chrome for 40 yrs and when the chrome is really bad such as the inside side of the mufflers and the header pipes, I use that chrome cleaner with a double zero steel wool. I use Mequiar's as well for the painted surfaces. For the "bare" plastic parts, seat, and windshield I use good old Lemon Pledge.

What rich99 said... I can't comment on the life of a clutch coz I never paid any attention to that but I do know that when my clutch on my '85 started going, I'd notice it most when cruising down the highway at around 100km/h and I'd crank the throttle... the engine would race then eventually the clutch would take hold and the bike would speed up. Ya don't notice it as much or at all in the lower gears.

1. I'm sure you'll get a lot of tips on this... one would probably be changing the rear end to a Vmax. 2. Somewhere in here I came across a link to a company that makes "training" type wheels for Wings. You know like training wheels on a bicycle. They raise or lower by a flip of a switch...there was a video of them.... thought those to be really cool.

DITTO Swifty... Those are stats from 2004 and even then, the homicide rate was up by 12%. I'd like to know what the stats are for today or at least for 2006. An area near here (Surrey) was Canada's highest area for auto theft I think in 2004-2005...not sure if that carried into 2006. "EDIT"... I found some info ... "For 2005, Statistics Canada reported that the overall violent crime rate was unchanged, while noting increases in crimes such as homicide, attempted murder, serious assaults and robbery. The homicide rate increased 4% to the highest level in almost a decade. (Statistics Canada, The Daily, July 20, 2006)" "from Crime Statistics in Canada, 2001 states, "The violent crime rate is 6% less than a decade ago, but 52% higher than 20 years ago." Above are quotes from http://www.fradical.com/Violent_crime_statistics_Canada.htm

Guns are everywhere and here in Canada there's a lot of illegal firearms...more so now than ever. Your laws are much more relaxed than ours but it sure seems that the way things are going around here, we should be able to do what you do for our own protection! Now here's a funny...in response to you saying "I hit where I aim". A few years back, before I was married or even knew my wife, I was living with someone. Thru her, I got involved in the rod & gun club and was doing a lot of target practise in their indoor range. One day she came there and did some practise also. She always claimed she was a very good shot! There are 6 targets. She was at #4 and I was viewing her target thru binoculars. Round 1 ... nothing, round2 ... nothing... no hit after 5 rounds anywhere on the target ... giggle giggle to myself... then I took the binoculars away from my eyes and realized I was looking at target #5 where nobody was shooting LOL :sign20: Oh yeah... when I did view her target, she was definately a good shot .... we continued practising and at the end of the day, her scores were much better than mine.... I never did tell her about the binoculars thing LOL.

In all the years I've owned a bike, I've never put anything in the gas to stabilize it over the winter and I've lived in a variety of climates here in Canada...all of them requiring the bike sitting for a minimum of 5 months. In many cases, my bike was not in a heated storage and in a couple cases, it sat outside under a tarp covered in snow. I have never had a problem with "bad gas" because of this.

Here in Vancouver, we seem to be in the middle of "gang wars". There's a lot of big time crime going on around here...a lot of drugs being produced and distributed, a lot of big time illegal crap going on. Every week we hear about people being killed that are involved in criminal activities. Restaurant shoot-em-ups, drive-by shootings, people being killed in their vehicles at stop lights, and the list goes on. It's getting so bad that the police have formed a special task force to combat it. What's really ironic is that there are more illegal firearms coming into Canada from the USA and other places than any other time in history. The irony here is that a few years ago, one of our federal government ministers brought in this "Law" to make everyone in Canada who owns a firearm either register it or turn it in for disposal...all supposedly to curb and combat crime and illegal firearms. HA! a lot of good that did and what's even more ironic... actually funny... is this same minister visited our city the other day and as he was driving down the street he came across a crime scene that had just taken place...with an illegal gun of course! LOL... when interviewed by the TV newsperson, the guy didn't have a lot to say coz he was too busy swallowing his tongue! Apparently he is no longer in government.

What's that old song??... "all I want for christmas is my two front teeth..." ... well in my case, I need 'em ALL because my current ones (store bought) are worn out a don't fit worth a dang anymore.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmm... who is the "lord"? and where does he/she fit in here?

A lot of very interesting comments about this topic...wow! One of them that really sticks out is the wages for servers in the USA. We here in Canada have a minimum wage (and I know you all in the US do also and it varies a lot). A server here makes at the very least $8 an hour. Now in comparison, one might think that's a lot but around here it really isn't. The thing is though, there are a lot of people working a variety of "service" related jobs who make exactly the same wage, work just as hard, deal with people all day long (and many of you know what that's like), put up with all kinds of crap from their employers (a lot of it against the labour relations act) .... and get no tips at all. It's just not fair.

Interesting that with the exception of Lawn Mowers, Air Conditioners, and Kitchen toys, everything else is made in CHINA!

I'd think $750,000 would be more appropriate. So, hit 'em with that and possibly they'll settle a wee bit higher... Anyone here been in the car sales game? One thing a salesman should never do is put themselves downstream coz it's harder to swim against the current than with it. So, come back at them with a much higher request and see what happens...don't be afraid to not accept their first offer...or even their second.

It's a whole different ball game when you live in a small town and everyone knows everyone (so to speak). I've lived in small places too and can relate to what you're saying. One tends to be more generous in those situations. But, I've also noticed that even if you don't tip a lot, those people who know you will still give you good service (unless of course they don't like you LOL). Seems smaller towns tend to be more "service oriented" and friendly than big citys like here.
