OMG!! ... well, I most definately won't be doing no 24hr ride from Vancouver to Biggar anytime soon! Not quite so cold here.. minus 5 or so but we're getting a good dump of snow... the worst thing is, it snows, then rains and melts, then freezes again which turns what snow there was into ice, then it snows some more and does the same thing over again.... majority of drivers around here have no clue whatsoever when it comes to driving in these conditions.

Dang...another one welched on me!!

Well now, THAT's just a wee bit on the "optimistic" side eh? Are you secretly working for Yamaha?
-
hey Kit... I do love the looks of your new ride...especially the color. Not so sure I like that monstrous chrome piece on the front of the fairing tho. Considering all the great features of the new Wing, I guess you won't be wanting those 2 speed whitewalls anymore huh?

yes, they were talking about that movie on this TV show... was it a good movie?... should be with those 2 actors!

Peanut bars were a big "rage" in the mid 80's around here...almost every bar ya went to had unlimited supply of peanuts in the shell and ya sat there gorging yourself on them while downing your beer and watching whatever was on sports...throwing the shells on the floor...everywhere ya walked it was "crunch" ... "crunch" ...coming from the shells on the floor and the patrons chowing down on the peanuts. There's at least one such place still around... it's in Victoria, BC.. called "Big Bad John's" .... quite the tourist attraction and a fav wih many locals including myself whenever I go over there. They play real old western music ... some "not so famous" Canadian stuff from guys like Stompin Tom Connors. They have thousands of women's bra's hanging from the ceiling...bra's donated by tourists and locals over the years and on the walls there's bills (dollar, 2 dollar, 5 dollar, etc) from Canada, US, and other parts of the world, not to mention numerous autographs and inscriptions from all kinds of famous folk who've visited the place. The owner and his bartenders/servers wear old "farmer" like clothing .... I love that place! Oh yeah... unlimited supply of peanuts and the shells are everywhere! To get a "rise" out of unsuspecting visitors, they have those "fake dead chickens" strung on wires above and they'll rattle an old cowbell and slide the chicken down close to someone, freakin them out LOL If ya ever get to Victoria ya gotta check the place out!

I was just watching an interesting show on TV. They were talking about a "Bucket List". That is... what's on your list of things you'd really like to do before you "kick the bucket". Thought it would make for an interesting read here...to see what other's lists are. Here's some of mine that quickly come to mind... Spend at least a year touring Canada & the USA on a motorcycle, with a nice tent trailer in tow and my honey on the back seat. Take a ride in a jet fighter and maybe even get to fly it some. Drive an indy race car. Skydive Have a nicely equipped shop and build a custom car or a hot rod Move to the country and live in a log house on the edge of a nice lake with my own dock and a nice boat. (guess I'd better start buying more lotto tickets for some of these!)

This isn't about my scoot but I suppose it could apply. Seems I have a coolant leak at the head gasket just where the head meets the block at the right front of the engine. It's a V8 Dodge 5.2L. There's no coolant getting into the oil and doesn't appear to be any combustion gasses getting into the cooling system (yet). The leak is very slow. I tried a couple inexpensive (less than $15) "stop leak" products but that doesn't appear to work. Been reading about a product called "Thermagasket". I know anything like this is only going to be a "temporary" fix and I'll eventually have to replace the head gasket (which I can do myself) but my garage is full of other stuff including my scoot and I really would prefer to wait until warmer weather before tackling this. Has anyone on here had any experience with "Thermagasket" or other similar such products that you'd care to share? I'm hoping to at least temporarilly fix this leak but I find it a waste of time trying one product and then the next only to find they don't work...would rather try something that at least someone I know has had success with. Thanks

How'd you get so lucky? When I ran my computer business, my days were generally upwards of 16hrs and often times 7 days a week. That was my fault tho ... I hated turning business away ... after several years of that, I eventually learned that my sanity was worth more than the almighty dollar. After 20 years of self employment, I finally got tired of it and got a "real job". Now I work 8am - 4:30pm, 5 days a week, get regular breaks, got good benefits, no stress, no taking the work home, sit at a desk and pretend to be busy.... make a "reasonable" salary... 3 weeks holidays every year plus 6 health days a year.... I'm lovin it!

I was so tempted yesterday to get a 1 day permit and go for a ride....had other commitments tho but it's sure nice to see this sunshine eh! Reading the other posts, I'm sure there will be some chuckling when we refer to a cold snap as being minus 2 LOL heck, I laff at myself coz most of my life has been in much colder climates but now that I've been "climatized" to the west coast, minus 2 is COLD!

sweet looking scoot -BUT- .... how the h&ll did you get it through that door? -
I heard that if you put 2 speed whitewalls on those things they tend to improve performance signifcantly....never tried them myself...I ordered a set once...they're still on back-order....

Did you steal that from me or did you steal it from the guy I stole it from or did I steal it from you? (http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17888) Whatever.... right back atcha!

I figgure what's happening is folks are hanging on to their 1st gens, fixing them up as necessary and continuing to ride them coz there's nothing out there good enuf to switch over to...not even a 2nd gen!!! -
well up here in Canada, they have a full "burger & fries" kinda menu... have had for a long, long time...plus the ice cream goodies. DQ is famous for their "braizier" burgers... big, round, juicy.... yum!!! my favourite! Actually, they're flame grilled ... aka "braised" ... I'm not even sure if they advertise "braizier" anymore...I should look when I get there (in about 20 min).
-
I usually go to Dairy Queen right after commin here... I get a hankerin for those brazier burgers! (don't ask me why)
-
DITTO that! right back atcha Ron! and the same goes to everyone else in venturerider.org ... the best gol durn place on earth!

I don't care what the destination is; it's all about the ride. I choose a direction and go. A numb butt comes with the territory, but so does terrific scenery, time to think, and lonely roadside diners in towns past their prime.

I have been in the computer business for 20 yrs (many of you know this) and I can tell you .... I've evaluated Vista for my place of work...there's NO WAY we will be upgrading from XP until we have no other recourse. Our current PC's are only a bit over a year old. They run XP and we've had no issues at all. In fact, I have been running XP on my own system since XP came out and have been supporting it on as many as 1000+ systems in all kinds of specialized environments. When the time comes that we are forced to upgrade to Vista, I hope and pray that Microsoft has brought out a replacement for Vista that works as good as XP. Without question, Vista is one you should stay away from if at all possible. I'd recommend a MAC or going to Linux before I'd recommend Vista. Incidentally, Dell systems as well as many others can be ordered with Linux installed. Linux has way more "goodies" available at no cost and many of them work better than their Windows counterparts IMHO. And while I'm thinking about it, Microsoft Office 2007 sux even worse than Vista. ok, enuf coz I'm getting mad now... just my $0.02
